Journey of A Lifetime

This weekend I had the incredible opportunity of speaking at Harvest Church in Billings, Montana. Harvest is an amazing church that is making an incredible impact out here. They have four campuses with one in Cody, Wyoming. They’re in the process of raising money to build an olympic size pool that they’re actually going to give to the city of Billings as a gift just to show they’re here to serve the community. Love it.

I rarely travel alone and so my son Jett got to go on this trip with me. We love traveling together. And when we discovered that Yellowstone Park was only about a three hour drive away we couldn’t pass up the chance to see it. Right after the last service we jumped in the car with our little map and took off.

I can remember ever since I was a kid I’ve wanted to visit Yellowstone and it’s some 2 million protected acres. We took the Beartooth Pass (maybe the most beautiful drive in America) over the mountain and went in the Northeast entrance of the park.

Jett and I are getting ready to fly back to Nashville today but we just brainstormed a few of our highlights from yesterday’s trip.

-Snowball fight in July.

-Almost running over a bison after literally turning to Jett and saying, “we haven’t seen a single bison.”

-Watching a herd of mountain goats on the top of the Beartooth pass.

-Driving through 20 foot high snow drifts.

-Jett turning to me on our way out of the park and saying, “Dad, I can’t imagine there could be a more beautiful place on earth.”

Had no idea we would be able to squeeze this little journey in so I only had my iphone. However, here are a few of my favorite pics.

Have you ever been to Yellowstone? What’s your favorite park to visit?

The Seduction of the West

So we’ll be in airports most of the day making the trek back to Nashville. I had an absolute blast the last few days as Matt and I fly fished the beautiful waters of the Big Horn River in Fort Smith, Montana.

I think it was George Washington Carver who once said, “I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.”

Well God’s signal was loud and clear out here. I really needed to be reminded of the stunning beauty of God’s undisturbed creation. It was good for my soul.

Do you have a place you’ve been where you feel God speaks to you through its beauty?

Gone Fishing

I’m in Montana for a few days fly fishing the Bighorn River. I can’t imagine a more incredible place to fish, relax and dream about the future.

The only thing I regret is I won’t be in town to here THIS GUY at Cross Point Nashville on Sunday. If you’re in or around Nashville you won’t want to miss him. Hands down he’s one of the most gifted and down right funniest people I’ve ever been around!

I’ve been told I won’t have internet or cell service while I’m in Big Sky country so I’ll see you sometime on Monday or Tuesday.

Have a great weekend!
