Last week Jett was Star of the Week in his classroom which meant on Friday he was able to invite his family to school. This was our opportunity to share with the class a little about our family including what we do for a living.
I have no problem being in front of a video camera. Speaking in front of large crowds doesn’t scare me either. However, speaking to my son’s first grade class scares me to death.
Jett had already given me the run down of what some of the other dads had done. I knew it was stiff competition. Just the week before one of the dad’s who’s a PGA golf instructor had shown them the perfect golf swing. Jett and the rest of the kids were convinced he was better than Tiger Woods.
While I’m very proud of being a pastor I had a feeling a bunch of first graders weren’t going to be so impressed with my pastoring skillz. I thought about telling them I help save people from the eternal flames of hell, but I thought that might freak them out. Then I thought about lying and telling them I was a professional scuba diver, or a pilot, or animal trainer but Brandi told me that would be wrong.
Then I remembered. Wait…. I know how to juggle. It’s been years, but I can tell them I’m a pastor and if that underwhelms them I’ll show them how I can juggle.
So I did and I think they were impressed. Take that Mr. Golf Pro.
What’s your secret talent? Come on, you know you have at least one. Spill it.
