It’s Good To Have Friends With Gas

Yesterday most of you read my rant about our gas crisis here in Nashville. Well, my friend, accountability partner, and fellow elder, Brian Alexander, read about my situation on twitter and jumped in to help.

In honor of Brian I thought we could make this “Brag on Your Friend Day”.

So why don’t you take a second and tell us about something kind one of your friends has done for you lately.

Proverbs18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

My BFF

When I was a freshman in college I met Kevin Colon. We became instant friends and the rest is history. He was my roommate throughout most of college. He was there when I got my first ministry job at First Baptist Morgantown. He was there when I felt God prompting me to start a church. He was there when I met Brandi. He stood next to me when I married Brandi. He served on staff with me at my first church plant. He knows all the good, bad and ugly about me.

Kevin pastors a great church he started several years ago in Superior, Colorado called Cool River Church. I couldn’t be more excited about how God is using him.

He’s been in Kentucky for a few days visiting with family, so we met for dinner Tuesday night. I was reminded that friends are such a gift from God. Friends that know everything about you and still love you are rare. Friends that have walked with you throughout years of junk are priceless.

Tell me about your BFF….

Happy 4th of July!

Brandi and I are spending the day getting ready for our annual party. For years we’ve hosted a 4th of July party with friends. Each year our backyard fireworks show gets bigger and better. I may try to get some video for you tonight.

Just in case, I took a little video last night of the kids shooting off their mini firework show. We had a blast!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful fourth of July!

What are your plans?

Let’s Get To Know Each Other

Okay, it’s been a week of heavy posts here, so I thought today we would lighten it up. About six weeks ago we played the questions game, and I know we have a lot of new readers, so let’s give this another shot.

I’m going to ask a question. The first person will answer the question and then leave the next question (feel free to play as many times as you want). Got it? Here we go.

Question: If you could live in any city in the world, where would you live and why?

Let’s Get To Know Each Other

Question Marks

Today we are going to try something we have never tried at “Without Wax”. This will be a great way for us to all get to know each other a little better.

I’m going to lead off with a question. You answer the question and post the next question. The next person will answer your question and post the next question. Got it? Feel free to play as many times as you want.

Question #1: What is your favorite place to eat out?

Parenthood

I have seen these images in several places. I thought with the number of new and expecting parents we have around Cross Point it might be helpful. It reminded me of how absolutely clueless I was the first day we came home with Jett.

What is the dumbest parenting mistake you’ve ever made?

Over 500 Comments!

I started this blog almost three months ago (time goes by fast). I was looking for a place to communicate many of the cool things God is doing in my family, in our church, and in my life. All those random things that just never make their way into the weekend messages.

The one thing I never expected from this blog was the “community” that would develop. In the past few months I have made lots of new friends, reconnected with some old friends, and had the opportunity to get to know the hearts of some great people right here at Cross Point.

Today I noticed that we surpassed the 500 comment mark. Way to go! Thanks for participating in this unique community. If you’re a regular reader and you have never introduced yourself, we would love to hear from you. Take a second and leave me a comment.

creating community,

pete
