From the Pastor’s Wife…

Posted by Brandi Wilson

Thought it might be nice to hop over here and say “Hi y’all” while Pete’s 9,000 miles away eating lots of curry saturated Indian cuisine.  As much as we’re missing him at home we’re so proud of all he’s doing to help make an impact in Kolkata by sharing a message of hope and grace.

I’m sure most of you regular Without Wax readers have picked up on the fact that Pete is an fabulous dad… I’m talking the investments he makes in our kids on a daily basis amaze me.  He juggles a lot, but our kids are never part of that juggle… they’re priority.

And unfortunately, because I often take him for granted and life gets busy, sometimes it takes him being away for me to really see those investments in action.

You Did It Again!

My prayer 7 years ago when we launched  Cross Point Church was that our church would make a real difference in its community. I prayed we would care just as much about what’s going on outside our four walls as within.

Early Monday morning there was a horrible fire here in Nashville which destroyed several units,  and affected about 20 residents at the Mission Bellevue Ridge Apartments. These apartments are only minutes from our Cross Point Bellevue campus which launches this Spring.

Last night while watching the local news I heard a story about how a local group was trying to help the families, many of which had lost everything. I thought to myself, what an awesome way to reach out in the midst of this crisis. Then I heard the reporter say that a mom’s small group from Cross Point Church was responsible for collecting items for the family (CLICK HERE to watch the video).

This is a CP community group at its best. Not just studying the Gospel together but actually living it out!!

The reporter went on to say that the Cross Point Bellevue campus (the old Circuit City building) was now being used as the drop off/collection center for items being donated to these families.

I love it. The Cross Point Bellevue campus reaching its community before it even launches. Now that’s the church being the church! This community of believers never ceases to amaze me. You did it again and I’m so proud of you guys.

Reward Offered!

I woke up Saturday morning to a little surprise. It appears that our youth group must have had Friday night Bible study in my front yard.

The Good News: My four year-old was so excited. He walked down the stairs declaring “Awesome, it’s Christmas.

What I learned: If you light the toilet paper on fire, it will burn all the way up. Also, I learned if it’s windy, you should have a hose in your front yard as you will likely catch your neighbor’s grass on fire in the process.

What I gained: Two years worth of toilet paper for the guest bathroom. No worries friends, this is soft stuff and we use only the best for our guest. I love it when rich kids roll your yard.

What I’m doing: Offering an undisclosed reward to anyone that can help me find, prosecute, and humiliate the kids at church who did this. Any guesses?

Do you remember your favorite prank you pulled off as a kid?
