Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

One of my favorite things about being a pastor is helping people discover their gifts, abilities and purpose. I love watching people find their sweet spot in life.

Likewise it’s been fun as a dad to watch my boys as they grow up and develop their unique giftedness. I pray almost every day that God will help me encourage them in such a way as to use their gifts to bless the people around them.

Our youngest, Brewer, is full of energy, determination, and focus. Lately, he’s been singing a lot. A whole lot. I thought I would give you a sample. Jury is still out on whether or not this is going to be a gift of his or not. I think his oldest brother might have given him a few lessons.

So Jett started first grade this year. In less than a month, they’ve got him reading. It just cracks me up to listen to my son read me a book.

I took a little video of him reading a book to his brothers the other night. Somehow the reading turned into an all out brawl but I guess that’s life with three boys.

Our Gommunity Groups fair launches this Sunday. Ryan Bult and his team have been working hard to get everything ready.

If you attend one of our Cross Point campuses and you’re not in a Community Group, this is your chance! At both our Nashville and Dickson Campuses you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for a group this Sunday.

You can also go online HERE to browse some of  the groups offered. Community Groups represents Cross Point at her best!

What A Night!

Tonight I got the opportunity to attend the kick-off of Cross Point’s Charge-United student event. What a great night. I was so proud of George Stull, our new student pastor, and his team of volunteers.

It was so cool to see both our Cross Point Nashville and Cross Point Dickson students gathered as one worshiping the One.

I thought this video was hilarious, until I realized this little dude will probably be taking my job in a year or two. I mean wow, I’m just trying to keep my two year old from picking his nose in public and hitting his older brothers in the private place.

It’s hump-day and a perfect day for an all-skate question.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a politician. I wrote a paper in first grade about how I wanted to be the president of the United States. I never really veered off that path. I did an internship all the way through high school at the Tennessee State Capitol. Even through most of college I thought politics was what I wanted to do with my life.

Then in my senior year I started to feel the tug toward ministry.

So that’s me, how about you?
