In Case You Missed It…

My wife posted this picture of our four-year-old, Gage on her blog today. She walked around the corner of the grocery store and there he was, doing his thing. All I can say is he must be a PK. Lord, be with us.

So, I may regret asking this one, but do you remember your first kiss? Details please.

What Do Dad’s Really Want?

Well, this weekend is Father’s Day. We all know it’s not as big as Mother’s Day and here’s the stats to prove it. According to BIGResearch, a market intelligence firm, consumers surveyed said they plan to spend an average of $31 on their dads, as opposed to the average $41 they said they spent on mom this year.

Either way, I thought I would give you my top five things you should get your husband/father this year. This is my creative chaos.

#5 A GPS Device. We love gadgets. Especially gadgets that keep us from having to humble ourselves to ask for directions. THIS particular GPS device is a rearview mirror, mp3 player and GPS all in one.

#4 An Underwater pogo-stick. THIS little gizmo could be all the rage this summer in acquatic fun. Nothing says “I’m a cool dad” like showing up at the neighborhood pool with one of these.

#3 Punch Mugs. Every man needs one of these to drink his coffee out of. You never know when an inner-office rumble might just break out. Hey, we all know we’re a bunch of white collar wimps, but amuse us anyway.

#2 Radio Control Beverage Cart. Taking the kids to the pool in the summer is hard work. Why should your husband/father have to get out of the pool to fetch his favorite poolside beverage.

#1 A Urinal. I know this is going to cost you more than the lousy $31 you plan on spending, but this is the ultimate. Every man has a dream of owning a home urinal. Why not make this the year you make his dreams come true? Nothing says, “We think you’re the best” like a wall mounted urinal. Home Depot has a wonderful collection HERE (Guys you can thank me later).

So, what are you giving/wanting for Father’s Day this year?

Coming This Tuesday!

Wait until you see this video on Tuesday! Jett finally met up with Taylor Swift. Oh…and I just found out Jett scored his first fan.

An Update On The Garden

I thought I would take a minute to update you on how the garden is going. HERE is my first post on the garden in case you missed it. Things are going well. The cucumber, green beans, squash, and tomatoes are looking great. Just pulled the radishes. The corn is in crisis and needs a lot of prayer, fertilizer and a small miracle.

What are you worth?

I read an interesting article this morning about how insurance companies calculate an individual’s worth inDollar sign order to determine whether to cover a new medical procedure. Apparently, the international standard most private and government-run health insurance plans use puts your value at $50,000. The article argues that this figure is outdated and the new figure would put your worth at a whopping $129,000 (this is the result of inflation not anything you did, so don’t get a big head).

There are days, to be honest, I don’t feel like I’m worth fifty bucks, much less $50,000. There are days I’m surprised my church let’s me serve… days I wonder why my wife puts up with me…days I wonder why my friends stick around. Ever have those days?

But here’s the biggest shocker of all. The one that I just can’t comprehend. The Creator of the universe thinks I’m so valuable he can’t even put a number on it. Take a second to let this sink in…

Matt 10:29-31 (nlt)

29 What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin[? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.

Romans 5:7-8 (TM)

We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.

How does this make you feel?

Planting Seeds

Almost 12 years ago I planted my first garden. I’ve had one every summer since. There is something about planting and keeping up a garden I really enjoy. This year was really cool because Jett is taking an interest and helped me plant.

Here are the updated pictures. A few rows of corn, squash, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, and radishes. If you’re in the Nashville area you’ll have to stop by in a few months. I love giving vegetables away!
