Why We had kids (Part 12)

Reason #12: Because I love string cheese.

No self respecting adult can have string cheese in their fridge unless there is at least one child under the age of 7 in the house. I’ve done the math and I’ve got another good 12 years of string cheese ahead. I love my kids and my cheese.

What’s your favorite kids snack?

And in case you’ve missed any of the others…

LOL. Too funny, I LOVE string cheese and it is always in our refrigerator as well. I think I like it more than my kids though. Their favorite snack is the yogurt that has the little candies in the lid to mix in. They would eat them all day if I let them. Love the little occasional sneak peeks into you and Brandi’s world!

    Sour gummy worms.

  3. Melissa Irwin June 27, 2011 at 7:59 am #

Apple Jacks cereal or Reese’s Puffs cereal. :-(

I must not be a self-respecting adult because I have string cheese and Cocoa Pebbles.

Not together but in the fridge and pantry. :)

String cheese rocks – sure you can bite it off but stringing it out is so much fun. Can’t forget the Goldfish, gummy fruit snacks that have no fruit in them, and washing it down with a Caprisun or Sunny D.

Pete, which one of your boys ate their weight in gummy snacks?

My father has string cheese in his fridge. And get this…his kids are all grown up and moved out. Now explain that to me! He’s a kid at heart! String cheese is a fave of mine too!

    Pete, its all about Nutella.
If you don’t know what it is, look it up.
Healthy Chocolate that spreads on toast. Everybody wins.

    • Craig Smith June 27, 2011 at 10:30 am #

I love that stuff – it’s like dessert for breakfast.

    • Pete Wilson June 27, 2011 at 4:03 pm #

Sounds really good. Going to have to give it a try Matt.

  10. Sarah June 27, 2011 at 9:28 am #

If that’s true than I’m no self respecting adult. I’m a fan of kid snacks as a whole. So good for grab-and-go.

Wait a minute. For 12 more years you’re going to have a child under the age of 7? Does Brandi know this?

    • Sherie June 27, 2011 at 10:19 am #

I wondered about the 12 years too. Maybe he is giving us a whole new insight into their family and the future.

    • Pete Wilson June 27, 2011 at 4:03 pm #

Ummmmm clearly my math is off.

      • Kevin Cook June 28, 2011 at 1:31 am #

Yep…I was about to say is there some news we are not aware of yet? Stick to writing and preaching. Shoot me a text next time you are gonna use math in your blog…haha. Love ya bro!

  12. Eileen June 27, 2011 at 10:29 am #

Haha! Go ahead and eat your string cheese. Then I won’t feel so bad about enjoying my Fun Dips. :)

cheez-its, hands down. Although I do love fruit snacks too. Spaghettios are a fave as well. Wait, I may still be 5 years old!

  14. ChrisW(Churchpunk) June 27, 2011 at 10:32 am #

Yum! I don’t care what anyone else thinks, I will be keeping string cheese in my fridge long after the kids are gone.

  15. Shelley June 27, 2011 at 11:08 am #

Well, my favourite kid snack is certainly NOT cheese of any kind. I’ve been known to buy a box of Froot Loops or bag of Rockets (candy) from time to time.

  16. Debi Jones June 27, 2011 at 11:31 am #

I have string cheese in my fridge and I don’t have kids! Not sure what that says about me but I LOVE IT!

  17. Morgan MacGavin June 27, 2011 at 11:32 am #

I always look forward to these posts…was actually hoping for a little child labor…but string cheese is pretty awesome too. ;-)

  18. Aj June 27, 2011 at 12:01 pm #

I love string cheese but I am a sucker for Lucky Charms!!!!

  19. monmy3 June 27, 2011 at 12:18 pm #

gogurt and string chesse is a must in our house as well as capri suns! Daily snack for the entire family!

  20. Tony June 27, 2011 at 12:35 pm #

I am a big fan of Gushers fruit snacks. But…if I am honest…my wife always got frustrated with me because I would snack on the fruit flavored rice puff snacks when my kids were infants. They were really good!

  21. Laura June 27, 2011 at 12:46 pm #

Since when is string cheese just for kids? I packed some today while eating my captain crunch for breakfast.

  22. vanilla June 27, 2011 at 1:28 pm #

Just a minute. Do the math again, or explain how many more kids you are planning to have, and how do you know?

    • Pete Wilson June 27, 2011 at 4:04 pm #

I think I might have messed that up. Give me a break. :) I did right it late on Sunday night.

      • vanilla June 27, 2011 at 4:43 pm #

That’s okay. Keep your string cheese in the fridge anyway. Most women will tell you most men are just “big kids” anyway.

  23. JamesBrett June 27, 2011 at 1:57 pm #

favorite kids’ snack: either jello or goldfish

favorite kids’ snack which is expected to go out of business this year: corn pops

favorite kids’ snack memory: putting the little cookies with holes in them on my fingers like rings. you know the ones they passed out during vbs and stuff?

  24. Alyssa June 27, 2011 at 4:20 pm #

Fruit Snacks. I don’t know how they can eat them or why I buy artificially colored, fruit flavored blops of gelled corn syrup, but I do and they love them and I would NEVER have them if I didn’t have kids. I do like a cold cheesestick, however, especially with apple slices and ritz crackers. My favorite, BY FAR, is frosting from a can on crackers.

    • Lyn June 27, 2011 at 7:35 pm #

      Freezer Pops…

  25. jason June 27, 2011 at 9:11 pm #

    Pepper Jack!

  26. Brenda June 27, 2011 at 10:41 pm #

Oh, man. Now I want some string cheese. I can eat a package of it for dinner. Then again, I grew up in Wisconsin, so any kind of cheese is always acceptable, no matter what your age. :)

    • Brenda June 27, 2011 at 10:41 pm #

And I think my favorite “kids” snack is…probably Scooby snacks. The other fruit snacks just aren’t as good.

  27. Jonathan Pearson June 28, 2011 at 7:12 am #

Gummy worms man… without a doubt. I buy string cheese on occasion… no kids… I’m not sorry about it either! :)

  28. Sara June 28, 2011 at 7:38 am #

Rice Krispy Treats. I eat one maybe every couple of years, but man they are delish.

  29. Tonya June 28, 2011 at 7:15 pm #

Guess I’m another no self-respecting adult. :) I currently have string cheese in my frig and last I checked there were no children running around the house. I love string cheese…it tastes good and its an approved snack for my diet plan! :)

  30. David Edmisten June 28, 2011 at 9:35 pm #

I love that having my kids have given me permission to enjoy the snacks of my past. The three biggest are peanut butter and jelly, otter pops, and cereal that has marshmallows in it. Thank you kids.

  31. Amanda June 28, 2011 at 9:45 pm #

I’m going to have to dispute this :) I have about as much self-respect as I do love for string cheese, which I love a LOT!
