One For The Record Book

Hope you guys had a great Memorial Day weekend. I know we did.

The highlight of my weekend was a short, but unforgettable, camping trip with the family. We stepped it up a notch this year and went “primitive” camping. In short, this means you don’t have electricity or water. I know it sounds like complete torture to some of you guys but we love it.

While camping I spent an afternoon fly fishing at Burgess Falls with Blake and my son, Jett.

I caught the biggest fish I’ve ever caught on a fly rod, not to mention I landed that sucker on my little 3 weight rod. Jett actually netted him for me which made for a fun memory.

So let’s hear it. What did you do with your long weekend?

Oh well…some of us had to work Pete. I cut grass, laid down stuff to kill the grubs, washed both vehicles, put a grill together. but I also got to ride my bike for 24 miles and eat food cooked on that grill so I reckon it wasn’t so bad. congrats on the catch but we know Jett really caught it. :)

First off, I don’t think I’ve been to Burgess Falls in probably 13 years, that brings back some good memories.

As for yesterday, just hung out with family during the day & got together with friends for dinner. No agenda, the best way to celebrate a birthday.

Looks like a lot of fun.

I tried not to go insane this weekend. It is the busiest time of year for us right now.

Don’t worry though, I am trying to relax a bit this week.

Getting ready to play some Ultimate Frisbee (which I just found out has been changed to just “Ultimate”) with German boys. Prayers appreciated with trying to explain a game in a language I can hardly speak! :-)

PS: So you guys didn’t shower? I think I would have went a little crazy ;-)

It was only for two days and I did kind of wash off in the creek.

With soap and your loofah I hope.

I thought I would link back to an old post I remember you doing about your loofah but I discovered that I can’t access it. :-(

Love Burgess Falls, although it’s been a few years since I was there last.

We invited about 40 friends over to the house to watch the local parade, the kids get candy, and of course… grillin’. And no Memorial Day would be complete without home-made ice cream!

Lost’s of fun, memories, and great conversations!

Family reniunion in Illiniose, not exactly the most exciting way to spend my weekend, but it was good to be around family.

I wish I could fly fish, looks very peaceful

That’s awesome! Went to Tims Ford Lake with some friends and met some super cool peeps from Nashville. Wakeboarded, Swam, Ate, and listened to the cicadas scream their hearts out. Then headed back to Atlanta. Three day weekends make it so hard to get back to work but very thankful.

What wonderful memories Pete… They’re worth so much, aren’t they? :-)

We spent our weekend surrounded by close friends and family, celebrating the 10-year anniversary that our 11-year old son Jonathan had his last chemotherapy treatment. To mark the occasion, we had a large BBQ on Sunday afternoon attended by many of those who’ve touched, and been touched by his journey. God was abundantly present throughout, and a good time was had by all.

Thank you for sharing the photo, and have a Blessed Day!

That trip actually sounds like fun. The fish looks awesome man. I need to find some guys to do the camping/fishing thing myself here in Nashville. I miss doing that from growning up!

Glad someone got to realize and enjoy the day instead of having to work!

Stayed at home with the newborn while my hubby took our five year old to the pool and on the boat all weekend. I’m not bitter ;)

I went to a parade and played hockey with my friends on Monday, and I had a lacrosse tourney on Sat. and Sun.

Had a spare moment, saw this and admire any man who can land a fish and get help from his son. Could we call this “Creating a Memory on Memorial Day?” And isn’t the FISH smiling, too? Weird.

SO glad you got to go camping with your family! That will be some of their best memories for sure. We did “primitive” camping in the fall with our 2 year old and you are right- it is amazingly fun- we did not want to leave! Can’t wait to do it again but I am 7 months pregnant so who knows. We went to a birthday BBQ at our friends’ pool Saturday and yesterday went to our favorite place- Sea World (we live in San Diego). Want to go there as much as possible before we move to N-ville! :)

We threw Avalyn’s first birthday party. I could not believe most of both our entire families drove to Nashville for it. We may never have them all together again so it was a definite weekend to remember.

We spent our long weekend camping in Leogane, Haiti, giving an orphanage director couple a few days off. For a great picture of it, read tendollardog.wordpress.com.
