Corn Dogs, Four Wheelers & Firewood
Brandi is spending the weekend with Jett and Gage on a mission trip to Wheelright KY with Cross Point (this is the boys first mini mission trip). They’re helping deliver about $60,000 worth of food, supplies, and toys that were donated by Cross Point folks to help this needy community out.
That leaves Brewer and I here alone fending for ourselves. This means we’re eating a lot of these…
And doing a lot of this…
Nothing says “guys weekend” like corn dogs, four-wheelers, and cutting up firewood.
I hope Brandi makes it back before we starve to death.
What’s your “go to” meal when you can’t or don’t want to cook?

We have frozen pizza when I have a migraine (frequently) and hubby doesn’t have time to cook. When I was working, my hubby was the stay-at-home parent so he’s pretty adept at putting together reasonably healthy meals. (But, he will serve corn dogs if I’m not around – LOL!) Sounds like there will be testosterone flowing around your house this weekend!!
Catherine
Testosterone and frozen foods.
As a single, it’s hard to cook for one…and not end up with TONS of leftovers. Whatever I cook has to be something I don’t mind eating for a week.
Chick-fil-A, breakfast for dinner, and ‘plated’ salads are a staple at my house. Enjoy your time with Brewer! Sounds like y’all are going to have fun!
On a totally separate note, I found out y’all are friends with Beth Richards. We’re in the same singles’ group at HFBC. Small world!
Oh wow. I love Beth. Tell her I said “hey”.
Big fan of pizza rolls. One of the first things I’ll go to when I get home from Iraq…….. can’t wait!
I hope there is a giant truck load of those pizza rolls waiting for you. Get home safe Craig.
Pizza rolls……all the way.
Whats funny when I read the firewood thing I very distinct childhood memory comes to mind. My dad loves to chop down trees, and as a kid his idea of fun was to chop down dead trees in the woods behind our house and then have me carry the wood up to the house. My saturdays were spent carrying stacks of wood, his were spent using a chainsaw. I always got the worst end of the deal.
That’s hilarious Kyle! I can so see that.
I’m just going to own it and say it, microwaved S’mores. Or as they are being referred to, “Redneck S’mores.”
pasta!! It’s so easy just add water and some jar sauce and you are good to go.
Pizza…the store bought, frozen variety to be specific
First of all, Pete, let me say I think it’s absolutely marvelous that your church gave $60,000 worth of goods, and that Brandi took the two kids along to help distribute them. That’s what the Bible tells us over and over to do, and says that how we treat the needy is how we treat Jesus.
Yet most of us don’t come close to that. (And I know many of us can’t. But even while my family was living in a tent trailer for 6 years, we all took part in feeding the hungry at a Lutheran church. And right now my kids often cook breakfast for several kids in our neighborhood before they get on the school bus.)
As to what I eat at “raid the refrig” time? Whatever’s there. Hot dogs. Frozen meals. Ice cream. Chips. Crackers. Pop Tarts (Did I hear someone say “ughh?”) Amen! But…
cold cereal or bagels with peanut butter
Totinos Party Pizzas are pretty hard to screw up.
The go to foods in my cupboards include cheese and crackers…coffee (liquids are easy and will fill you up!)…pickles…ummm…the occasional ramen…cereal is a good go to as well.
I love me some Totino’s. Started that love affair in college.
Ditto @Brooke!
Tree choppin’ and no shoppin’ – priceless.
Only the finest cuisine….Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine! I actually like this stuff!
Blessings,
Jim
Definitely pizza…or Burger King…or Chinese…though mostly pizza.
If I don’t feel like cooking…our “go to” meal is chicken patties and french fries… 20 minutes and every one is eating and all I had to do was turn on the oven and dump out a few bags… have my boys tie on a feed bag and we’re good to go… LOL
Hope you enjoyed your time with Brewer. One on One time with the kids is awesome… you get to see little glimpses of who they are becoming. Many times with siblings around you see a mirrored image of one of your other children; who one child thinks he is supposed to be like, in order to be accepted by the other(s)… its amazing how our first forays into relationships are figured out within our family unit…
Pizza or natchos.
Summer sausage, cheese, crackers and celery & carrots with ranch. This also happens to be our traditional Christmas Eve dinner; we call it our “snack supper.”
