God’s Perfect Timing

I don’t normally write blog posts that update you on Sunday’s activities, but I had to take a moment to stop and celebrate with my online friends. God has been doing an amazing work at Cross Point for years, but the past 3 weeks have been simply amazing. Thousands of volunteers out serving and loving on their community has changed us, proving once again that there is often a close relationship between crisis and transformation.

Yesterday, God gave us the privilege of opening our fourth campus right smack in the middle of one of the hardest hit areas of Nashville. To be honest the Bellevue campus was supposed to open back in January. At least that was our original plan. Buying the build took longer than we expected. Building out the building took longer than we expected. And if I’m really honest I wasn’t really happy about it. Opening a campus in late May is not what we call “wise strategy” in the church world.

But once again God showed His timing and His wisdom champion all (one day I’ll learn). Opening the Bellevue campus after having the opportunity to serve so many of our neighbors impacted by the flood was amazing. Around 1,200 people showed up for opening day (proving acting like Jesus is really the best marketing)!  I saw a twitter yesterday afternoon that made me tear up. My friend Lisa twittered:

Cost to repair our flood damaged home… $50K.  Sitting next to our neighbors at church we’ve prayed about for years…. Priceless.

Here’s a couple pics from the launch…

Thanks to each one of you who have made commitments to Faith, Hope & Love. Your faithful giving is making all of this possible. Cross Point, I’m so proud to be one of your pastors!

God was moving at our service in Rocky Mount, NC yesterday too! So glad to hear about what the Lord’s doing in Nashville, TN even in the midst of crisis. I’ve just learned about your church(es) and have been catching up on your podcasts.

When it’s all said and done yes. However, in the middle I’m not always the biggest fan. :)

God’s timing is so unpredictable but yet unbelievable amazing.
I wish it could be explained, but then it wouldn’t be perfect timing I guess.

Very encouraging and exciting to see the pics and read the story.

God’s timing is vital. Too often we misunderstand the difference between being patient on God’s timing and waiting for something to happen.

How awesome!! Now you should do a rap video with some of the other pastors. I bet everyone would love it – or maybe you would just love the rap video 4 people from my church did for our Serve Sunday celebration (2 of them were pastors – one is the worship pastor). It is hilarious. Part of the lyrics included the words: diaper of devastation. Hoping it will be on the internet this week.

I was a bit emotional about being at the Bellevue Campus yesterday. I spent a ton of my ministry days in Bellevue. So proud and thankful to be a small part of that opening.

Hey Pete…we weren’t even planning on going to the Bellevue launch but we were really pulled in after all that happened in Bellevue with the flooding. To walk in the door brought tears to my eyes…and my kids had the best time ever. It was awesome, and I’m already predicting a 3rd service being necessary, like, yesterday! Ha!

I am so curious though….how was the Nashville campus affected? Did everybody flock to Bellevue?

Never been to Crosspoint, heck I’ve never been to Nashville, but I am so proud to call all of you my Christian brothers and sisters. What you have done during this time of trial is what God’s love is supposed to be all about.

Sincere congratulations on the new campus! I’m sure that with a heart chasing after God as yours is, there will be no stopping the growth of Crosspoint.

    Bless you all!

Yesterday was AMAZING! I never imagined it would be such a great day. When I got there to greet, you could feel something special in the air. You knew it was going to be an amazing day no matter how many people showed up. One of my favorite parts of yesterday was reading what Wes twittered about the Nashville campus. In the midst of all the exciting Bellevue tweets, he said he was excited about the empty seats at Nashville and the opportunity for life change they bring. This was the reason for Bellevue…to serve this community and make room for more in the Nashville community. I have always been a proud member of this church, but watching the church the past month just makes my heart overflow with joy.

Evan and I were torn about attending the Nashville campus or Bellevue campus… but then a friend (who doesn’t attend church) randomly texted us and asked if he could join us at the Nashville campus on Sunday. HE LOVED IT and wants to come back.

And, even though several families are now attending Crosspoint Bellevue, there were already A LOT of new faces at the Crosspoint campus :)

So happy that I am witnessing God using Crosspoint to further his kingdom!

Gods timing is a wonderful blessing. His schedule is what guides us.

    Hebrews 13:16
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

    Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
