The 1,000 Year Flood?

They’re now calling this the 1,000 year flood. What does that mean to me?

It means we have a once in a thousand year opportunity to be hope to a hurting city.

Thanks to all of you who have been giving your time, money, and energy to this cause. You’re making a difference. Here’s a quick video update and a few new pictures. Go to crosspoint.tv for the latest pictures, news, and ways you can help.

You guys are amazing. I freakin love CP. We want to come back to Nashville so bad, and CP is also a huge contributor to that desire.

Please don’t ever stop breeding hope.

I am so proud of my hometown and my church CPCC. Can’t wait to be living there again. My constant prayers continue for you all.

Hey, Pete! My heart breaks for what is happening down in Nashville. I am a Quester in Lexington KY and I just wanted to let you know that if we get a team together to come down there and join you in your efforts, you can look forward to seeing me – I’m in, any way I can help. I’m already praying for all of you and will continue, but are there specific ways I can be directing my prayers? Just let me know.

Prayers for you heading up from Canada! You all remind me of those great Casting Crowns songs “What If His People Prayed?” & “If We Are The Body”.

Your post yesterday just undid me. Asking what you could pray for, when really it should be the other way ’round. Thanks for the reminder that my God is bigger than all the “stuff” hitting us!

My heart goes out to all of you! We survived the great flood of ’09 of the Red River in North Dakota and Minnesota last year. It both can devastate and rebuild a community in the most amazing ways. We are still feeling the aftereffects however, 1 year later. Prayers and love coming your way.

Pete and Crosspoint, I’ll be there Saturday and cannot wait to serve our Nashville family. I am bringing in family members and even friends from ATL to help. See you then!

I like your perspective on the 1,000 year flood better than the engineering perspective. Yes, I know all about the science behind how they decide if it’s 50, 100, or 1000 year floods. That’s what I get for being married to a water resources engineer. :)

Right on bro! Right on! Thanks for leading the church to be the church…to make room for the things that matter the most to God…and to allow the beauty of the Kingdom to shine through them! So proud of all of you! NICE WORK!

  2. The Influence of Sacrifice | Nickcarnes.com - May 7, 2010

[...] Every time New Passion and our people have sacrificed for a Kingdom cause, God has blown us away with his response. We’ve never given or sacrificed to get a response, only to be obedient. This Sunday as we collect supplies and financial gifts for our Nashville Flood Relief Efforts, we don’t expect anything locally to come of it. We do however expect God to use our efforts globally in Nashville for the BIG church. We don’t sacrifice to get or to gain. We sacrifice to influence others for Christ. There is no better church in the world that I would want to partner with than Cross Point Church. It has been amazing to see the influence they’ve created out of their personal sacrifice. Their pastor, Pete Wilson, said the other day that this is being called the 1,000 year flood, he sees it as a once in a 1,000 year opportunity to reach out to those who are in crisis. [...]

[...] The media may have moved on, but the messy cleanup in Nashville continues, with one particular church — operating out of a building where they’ve yet to hold their first service — doing a lot of the heavy lifting.   Pete Wilson also thinks a 1,00o year flood is a 1,000 year ministry opportunity.
