Ragumuffin Soul

Have you ever had a friend take on a project and you secretly hoped they were going to do really well, but you weren’t sure?

That’s how I felt when I found out my friend Carlos was recording his first album. I have no idea why I had any doubts. I mean everything the guy touches turns to gold. I guess it’s because I had never really had the opportunity to hear much of his music.

I’ll never forget the first day he pulled up one of the rough tracks he had just cut. We were at the house and as he fumbled to pull up the file I was silently praying, “God please let this be good, please let this be good.”

Well, to say I was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. It wasn’t good, it was great. I was blown away at how God used him powerfully throughout this album.

I’ve been wearing these songs out for the past couple months and today you get your chance. Ragumuffin Soul hits the street today.

I think this will be taking the place of Gungor’s album on my “perma-repeat” playlist.

Though I need a God of Second Chances shirt to go with it…..

I must confess that I do not have ITunes so will have to listen some other way. What have I been listening to? Hmmm some 80s Bride and Guardian and Pillar’s Confession. Throw in some Fee and Kutless and Thousand Foot Krutch with that.

I will have to check out @loswhit’s album when I get a chance.

As far as what I have been listening to.. hmm. I just realized that I have been so busy lately that I haven’t been listening to music much. That is awful!

I did sing along with the congregation on Sunday morning from the hymnal. Does that count? I had forgotten how fun it was to sing “And He walks with me and He talks with me” :)

Now I have to go and find some music to listen to.

Carlos, sounds great. (yes, it’s always a “whew!” moment when friends’ creative projects go well)

Being a musician by trade, so much of my listening has to do with what I need to learn for a session or gig- plus what I need to learn for serving at church.
Lately, I scanned into Nashville’s 102.1(The Light), a black gospel station, and I find myself tuning to it every time I’m in my car. Really uplifting music… and pretty vocally humbling. ha

What have I been listening to? Well, I’ve camped out with Matt Maher alot lately. I love his lyrics. I also have been enjoying Vicky Beeching’s new album. I am listening to random songs from Fee, Brandon Heath, Robbie Seay Band, and Christy Nockels as well.

I’m so excited – Carlos is coming to Seattle next week to stop by our station and play music for our staff! I’m excited to meet him and hear his music. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… I wish Nashville & Seattle were neighbors so I could just walk right over and see you all. :-)
