Opening Day

Yesterday was opening day at the ballpark. Jett and Gage are both playing again this year so we’ll be spending a lot of time out there. It kind of becomes a second home of sorts for the next couple of months. I can’t imagine what we’ll do if Brewer decides he wants to play next year. I better just take it one season at a time. :)

I love what Walt Whitman said about baseball.

I see great things in baseball.  It’s our game – the American game.  It will take our people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a larger physical stoicism.  Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set.  Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us.  ~Walt Whitman

Here’s a couple pics from the day.

Nice! Cubs and Red Sox!! You couldn’t ask for 2 better teams! Way to get those boys involved in a great sport! I look forward to the day I can do the same!

That pic of your oldest son swing is a great shot. He has a good swing there. His dad must have taught him well. I can imagine that ball went far.

Baseball is definitely the best sport to play when you are a kid. The hardest part thought is giving it up when you get older. I guess that is what church softball is for.

I think cricket is more appropraite for a Christian blogger to enjoy.

I’ve had 4 of my girls in soccer & my 2 boys in football all the same time of year with games the same day & on different sides of the island. All I can say is thank God for 3 drivers! I tend to have to miss the football games.

We have three boys playing baseball this year (9,8 and 5). It is very true that the ballfield becomes a second home! Yet it is such a fun time, and we have built some wonderful connections with our “ballfield friends.”

So crazy to see the difference in them from last year to this year… Jett looks so much older and Gage has a firmer grip on that bat… I love getting ot watch them grow up right along with you guys!

I agree with Kyle, that’s a dandy lookin’ swing. What a blessing – boys in uniform, a beautiful day and baseball.

What a great day it was! I love this time of the year. It also brings back many memories of when you were a little boy and how much you loved the game!

Pete, Your boys are so cute. I remember when my son, Adam, was playing ball. He always wanted to wear his t-shirt with the name on the front instead of the back. Enjoy your summer with them.

On a side note, our church is seeking a pastor in the Hickman County area, 50 miles west of Nashville, SBC church, bi-vocational. Do you happen to know of a man of God seeking such a position.

Love that quote by Whitman. I have it hanging in the house. And I think a Little League game is just about the closest thing to heaven we can have in this world.

Awesome pics- it is so great to look at pics of children and see those smiles, and know that they are so happy at that moment. What a beautiful family!
