I’ve been trying so hard to let go of wanting material things, it’s getting easier, but there are still a few things that I’d love to have:
A bike — the pedal kind… I’d use it, but I don’t *need* it. It’s hard to consider it practical when I wouldn’t use it to go somewhere, it would just be to go for bike rides. I could walk or drive instead.
A new fall/spring coat. I have one that works just fine, but it’s about 12 years old and I would appreciate a new one!
A really well made pair of Cross Trainers. I have a pair of shoes, so I have a hard time justifying it. To me, two pairs of shoes isn’t practical. I can only wear one at a time, you know? Out of my list, this is probably where I’ll break first… like, perhaps this week or next week…!
Pete, let’s face it, I feel like such a complete dork… you’re allowed to agree.
i drive a small SUV (Mitsubishi Outlander). I want the next size up. totally unnecessary. I would say a Harley but my wife will shoot me if I do.

Funny story about wanting something (and Pete you could try this with your congregation to get an iPad).
So I was a teacher for Jr High guys bible class. It was October and I was teaching them about self control. I illustrated my point by talking about how I really really wanted a PS3 but could not justify spending the money as well as that others were in greater need and I would just be throwing money at something that was very impractical. So I talked about how I had to show control.
Low and behold the last day of First semester, right before christmas break, my students bought me a PS3. It was amazing. They said that they still remembered that lesson and they wanted to think me for a great first semester. I was truly humbled, and in all honesty thought it was a joke. It was awesome.

For all those times you want to use a laptop, but don’t want to lug one around, or want to have that full screen experience, and your iPhone is too small. Once you’ve tried someone’s you won’t be able to say no. I take mine everywhere, and don’t regret the purchase in the least. (I’m not helping, am I?)
As far as what else I’m wanting is an in-ground pool. I’m so Clark Griswald!

I want a honda shadow 750…
Don’t you already have an iPhone? It’s basically the same thing as an iPad with a bigger monitor.

You’re going to have to break that down for us Maureen.
I would like to have an iPad, although I don’t want to buy one.
But my really impractical want is a 2010 Camaro SS2 or a Shelby GT 5000 Mustang. Either one would suffice

A Nikon D3000.
Failing that, a less ridiculous option would be the Olympus Stylus Tough 8010.
I need a new camera. Can you tell!?

Dang. I’ve got the Nikon D60. Didn’t even know there was a 3000.
I just want my daughter’s Palm Pixi! She’s got 3G access to the net on her phone and I am so jealous!!!
Oh, dude. I really really really want an iPad. Except it would be totally practical and helpful to me as the laptop can be too cumbersome on certain pain days.
But even if it is practical for me, the $500 is impractical, so I think it still counts.

I like the feel of books. I’m not a Kindle kind of guy and I don’t like to read books on the computer.
Could the ipad change all of that (what with the ability to turn pages an all)? The feel of a book, the size and what’s more, going on vacation I can carry my whole library with me (my wife would not call that a vacation).
Anyhow, the most impractical thing I could own right now would be a boat. (I really wish I had a boat!)

Whoa! Already 76 posts on this one?! My, how we love to dream and fantacize! Well, for what it’s worth, I’d like the master bathroom suite “promised” to me when we bought this house TEN YEARS AGO. (I won’t mention any names.) That, and a size 8 body. A girl can dream, amen?
Now be honest. Does this have ANYTHING to do with your upcoming series about shattered dreams?
A used Toyota Prius (new = depreciation), to be an extra in LOST before it ends, and a year long subscription with (exercises) to Lynda.com

Don’t be an early adopter. It’s proven that all things tech are worth waiting at least until a version two release. And of course, there’s that idolatry / greed topic to consider, LOL.

I can’t say that I’m a fan of the iPad or iPhone–I once had an iMac for work and, I kid you not, it burst into flames. I also have an iPod which is driving me crazy.
I do, however, want a laptop. I don’t need one–I have a perfectly good, and rather new, desktop. But I can’t help it, I want a laptop.
