So my favorite show EVER is about to start it’s final season. Brandi and I have been watching LOST since it launched five years ago. I can’t believe this is the final season, but I’m ready for answers to some questions I’ve been asking for a while now. I’m totally bummed I’m going to be in India for the season premier a week from today. Maybe, if I’m lucky, I can find internet access somewhere and watch it the next day online.
It’s hard for me to get on a plane these days and not think about what it would be like if our plane crashed on an island and I was stuck living with the people sitting around me. I know it sounds horribly morbid, but it does enter my mind. Who would be Kate? John Locke? Sawyer? Hurley? I always imagine myself in the role of Jack.
Made me wonder…If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

That’s so funny! I went to Thailand with Habitat for Humanity in November, then to Australia for a few days and had to fly from Sydney to LA! I actually thought about what I wore on the plane just in case…
Something tells me you would take other people’s thoughts and opinions into consideration a bit more than Jack Shephard has, although you could fit well into the leadership role. Just don’t do any surgery on me.
I can’t believe you’re going to miss the premiere! I’ve been counting down the days too. If you have to fly through Detroit, you can stop and watch the recording here.
It’s the leadership aspect of Jack that I want!
Hi, Sheri. I had some friends from Amarillo, Tx on that Thailand/Habitat trip. Steve Smart, for sure-He’s exec in Amarillo.
Oh, too bad I didn’t meet him… It was a great trip, though!
I. Can’t. Wait. For. Lost!
My husband is not the die hard fan I am, but I’ve been hooked since the first season. I can’t wait to have some season long questions finally answered. I sure hope you get to see it while you’re in India. Praying for a safe trip for you and the team.

I started watching this show when I was in South Korea for a year. They type of cable I had was more like having DVDs downloaded from the internet. I had never been into this show while I was at home (Canada), but because of lack of English programs in Korea, I started watching this one (and others I normally didn’t watch).
I was only able to get up to season 3, and when I got back to Canada, we were on season 5. I still need to see the 4th and 5th, but I think at some point that will be DVD purchases. Anyway, I don’t want to watch this season without having seen the previous two! Going to be hard not to read spoilers throughout the season!
This past summer, I went to Australia to do half of my teaching internship. One portion (on the way back), like the above post mentions, was Sydney to L.A. I, too, kept thinking about LOST while on that flight, and prayed for safety!
.-= Shelley´s last blog ..Passing On The Torch =-.
definitely the office. in fact, i’m kind of already there…
.-= timm´s last blog ..Bumper Crop =-.
Ha! We talk about that around our office often.
Put me in “Castle” with Betty in whatever the character “Becket” likes to wear! Our favorite show by far thanks to witty one-liners, good mysteries and some implied romantic sparks between stud-writer Castle and hot-cop sidekick. And they ALWAYS solve the mystery. Nice closure. Life should be so simple.
.-= Tom´s last blog ..Finding Hope…Implied =-.
What the heck is “Castle”????
.-= Wes Howard´s last blog ..Ministry Lesson #2 & 3 =-.
I with Tom on Castle – I love the one liners! My husband saw the previews and actually started me watching – he just knew that was my kind of show. I will be Castle’s Becket:)
Can I pick a cartoon series? If so it would be “Batman The Brave and the Bold.” The reason is that my son (5) loves it and would think that I was the coolest guy ever.
.-= Michael Perkins´s last blog ..Butterflies =-.
best. show. ever.
then again, this is coming from the same person who hides LOST easter eggs in his christmas card every year. Can you find all 6 in this year’s card?
cannot wait.
I would so totally love to be “trapped” on NCIS. I absolutely love that show and would love to hang out with Gibbs and the gang! I think it would have been really fun to have been stuck on the Cosby Show too- I really liked that show as a kid.
OK. So I thought it would be fun to list a few and why.
Iron Chef – Cause they eat good.
Little House on the Prairie – Cause I want to make sure Carrie doesn’t fall down while trying to run do the hill.. just once.
Waltons – Cause just ONE time, I would like someone to take me seriously when I say “Goodnight John Boy”
Newharts – Cause they have a nice Bread and Breakfast and I would really enjoy hanging out with Larry, Daryl, and Daryl
Survivor – Cause if you get bored with it after a week, you can get the people to vote you out.
Murder She Wrote – Cause someone needs to tell Angela to stay at home because everywhere she goes someone is getting killed. Talk about an albatross.
Mutual of Omaha – Cause someone needs to tell Marlin Perkins that’s not right that the other guy is always doing the dangerous stuff.
MASH – Cause they put the fun in dysfunctional community… and someone needs to help Colonel Potter with his singing of “I like to go swimmin with bow-legged women.”
Oh.. I could go on… but you get the drift.
.-= Tony York´s last blog ..Are you an Ichabod? =-.
Oh my word those are the funniest comments on those shows. I too was always frustrated by Carrie falling. Makes my back hurt watching her little foot fly up. And I grew up with my brother making fun of Marlin Perkins saying, “look out, Jim, he’s coming behind you!”

oh my goodness…well done!!!

I love me some LOST. True story, my wife and I took our laptop on our honeymoon so that we could get caught up on season 1 on DVD…and missed a connecting flight from Miami to San Juan. It was worth it. But, if I had to be trapped, it would have to be on either Modern Family (purely for the entertainment) or Heroes (because who doesn’t want to have superpowers?).
Dude, that’s over the top.
If I had to be stuck in a show put me in The Office! I love to laugh so it would be perfect
.-= Monica Hunt´s last blog ..Play On… =-.
why [CHUCK] of course. SCRUBS would be my second choice. Hey Pete, can’t wait to come to Crosspoint on the 7th of February. Hope you are preaching that day.
hands down, “modern family.” it makes me not feel so bad about my own : )
Gilmore Girls. Easiest question to answer. It’s the best show ever. Small town, big personality. There isn’t a lot to do, which i feel is the reason the main characters are quippy (if that word exists) and intellectual. oh to be a Gilmore girl!
Sarah, your comment made me happy. Love some Lorelai and Rory.
.-= Lindsey Nobles´s last blog ..Fake It Until You Make It? =-.
Never heard of it.
It’s not running anymore. It was kind of like Dawson’s Creek, but less angsty (most of the time) and it kind of felt like it was directed by the Micro Machines man from the 1990s.
My wife has the entire series on DVD… I’ve seen every episode… heh
.-= Jason DeVelvis´s last blog ..Focusing on your passion =-.
I could so live in Stars Hollow =D ! Also I would like to be trapped in Smallville ♥, Tom Welling is so cute! Or I could totally hang out with the guys and girls from “Friends” & “Felicity” could be my BFF! Great shows!
.-= Jessica Olivares´s last blog ..crazyfaith: "Hope does not disappoint us…" Ro. 5:5 =D =-.
i would LOVE to be trapped in Gilmore Girls, also my all time favorite FRIENDS and more recently The Big Bang Theory….and one more: Extreme Makeover Home Edition, I cant get enought of it plus i love those killer time frames and the suspense of making it to the deadline.
Don’t feel bad I’ll have to miss it too just like I had to miss 24 last night. Shows I would like to be trapped on….
Waltons…I like family
24…So I could hangout with Jack
Sportcenter…they have great TV’s
Baywatch…it on the beach:)
Mythbusters and CSI in Las Vegas.
.-= Joni Ruhs´s last blog ..Suffering? Really? =-.
Ohhh man. I’ve read your blog for months and this is the post that finally brought me to comment. Pete Wilson’s cool level just went way up because he watches Lost. Ha! There is so much that I would give up to be on the island. It’s sad, really.
I would agree that I would like to be trapped in LOST. I have had a trapped on a desert island fantasy since way before that show came out!
And of course I would want to be Kate, minus the ex-con status. I have a hard time seeing you as Jack because you can’t perform neurosurgery!
I also like another person’s idea about Little House On The Prairie. I have always thought I would like to live during that time, but that is probably because I actually don’t. It was probably a hard, stinky life.
So who do you think I would be?
I watched Lost from the very beginning and then I didn’t watch last season. I have been slowly watching the episodes on the internet of last season to catch up. I am definitely going to be watching this season!
I think I would have to say Criminal Minds. I know it is creepy most of the time I just enjoy all the people on the show.
Chuck would be my second choice.
General Hospital. Kidding. Kidding. Seriously no one is ever happy on that show.
I am surprised at how many people picked Dramas. Like life is not full of enough of it already
Going out on a limb and saying Entourage. I would love to just sit around and laugh at Turtle and Drama.
.-= Lindsey Nobles´s last blog ..Fake It Until You Make It? =-.
If someone was happy then it wouldn’t be a soap opera would it? Thank God real life isn’t THAT dramatic, although it could feel like it sometimes.

MODERN FAMILY.

Ha! Awesome.

That is my favorite line from the show. LOVED that.

I so wish I knew what was going on in Lost. The name is perfect for the mom that pops in and out of the room while doing dishes & talking on the phone & facebooking. My family loves the show, but you know, if you catch bits & pieces of it, you just can’t follow it. Flash forwards. Flash backwards. What?
Now, The Closer. That’s my kind of show. I’d love to be Brenda Lee. Everyone would take me seriously in spite of my quirks.
.-= Shari´s last blog ..Moooooo! =-.
Trapped in a show for a month? Oh it’d have to be The Andy Griffith Show. I’ve always wanted to live in Mayberry.
Gilmore Girls is a close second. I would also love to live in Star’s Hollow.
Seems to be a “small-town” theme going on…
.-= Cindy Graves´s last blog ..Fighting With “Why Bother”… =-.
Lately I think I would want to be trapped in the TV show Modern Family.
But all time show that I would like to be trapped in would have to be full house. Classic
So… this might get me in trouble.. but come on, the obvious answer is Big Love.

LOVE LOST!! But I would NOT want to be stuck in it! Fo sho. However, if I were, I’d totally want to be Kate so Jack and Sawyer would fight over me. BUT I am nothing like Kate. I see myself as more of Sun. But I might just do it so I could be friends with Hurley.
I’d hands down like to be stuck in Friday Night Lights. I’d be best friends with the Taylors and date Tim Riggins.

I’m not a fan of TV, right now I can’t think of any I’d like to be stuck on, but I can think of plenty I would really hate being stuck on…
Hoarders: ‘Nuff said. Especially if I need a month’s worth of TV episodes to cure the issue!
Extreme Home Makeover: Life’s been hard enough, and I don’t do fancy very well.
The News: If you’re on the news for a month, something’s gone wrong, way beyond wrong.
24: Brilliantly written, but imagine a month of that? Do they sleep? Have you ever seen Jack eat a meal? And let’s face it, it’s not like the terrorists give him an hour or two a day for Bible Study. It just can’t be healthy.
I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant: Seriously. On second thought, maybe that’s why I’ve been sick for months. That would be a happy ending… I wouldn’t even have to feel dumb about being on the show — I’ve been spayed, I’d have NO reason to suspect it! OK, Pete, that’s the one.
GLEE….life could have been a musical if Eve had only ……
.-= becky´s last blog ..Ex. 14-16; Acts 2; 1 Kings 11 =-.
Umm…
Channel 4 News?
On second thought, it’d be ‘Next Food Network Star’. Big fan.
I would definitely say, “The Unit”. That would be where I would want to end up. Counter Terrorism, making a difference in this world, heavy artillery, top secret stuff… You know how it goes. Every guys dream job. Until then, a pastor!
i hope you’re picturing me as kate if you’re pulling to be jack!!!

Babylon 5. It really began the “plot arc” concept in modern-day television. A fantastic sci-fi space opera. The first season can be a little rocky in places, but after that it’s 100% solid from cover to cover. On DVD and iTunes.
AHHHH I LOVE LOST!!!! I’ve watched it from the beginning, too, and I’m watching all the seasons trying to get refreshed on everything. It’s been very revealing so far
I think I would get stuck on the show “Firefly.” Hardly anyone has ever heard of it, but it just looks like fun. It’s like a sci-fi western, and only 13 episodes long…but there is a movie that continued the series called Serenity!
Mad Men, although I wouldn’t wanna be a women in those times.
Mom and I are addicted to Lost. Though I just realized that she may need help with her addiction b/c she has been in a definite funk since finding out this is the last season.
So obvious I have toddlers…love to be stuck in Phineas & Ferb. Their tree-house is fabulous! I guess it is a sad commentary that I couldn’t wish for anything better than Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz.
Why didn’t I think of that? I’d be Isabella, hands-down. Those Fireside girls are the best!
.-= Rachel´s last blog ..Unconscious Mutterings =-.
I love Lost! My husband and I have been watching it since day 1. Jack is definitely my main man. I think if I were to choose a show to be trapped in, it would probably be….Designing Women. I want to be Julia Sugarbaker.
Jud gave up on Lost last season. I’m on my own now … but can’t wait to watch soon.
I think I would want to be trapped in “Burn Notice.” To be “trapped” in Miami for a month would be great! Kinda like a humid Vegas I think. Plus I heart Michael Weston and he could teach me to make a tracking device out of a paper clip and a car door opener. Aaah … so many wonderful lessons could be learned.
.-= Lori´s last blog ..I Just Don’t Care =-.
If I had to be trapped in a tv show for a month I would choose my all time favorite Beverly Hills 90210 – the original one. And I’d want to be trapped during the junior and senior years they were in college (so that would be 1995-96 and 1996-97 – which ironically 1997 was when I got my Master’s lol)
And I have never seen LOST. Bad American I know lol
Brothers & Sisters: I’d be back home with the option of working in the wine biz!!
Im with Brandi, I would so be on FRIENDS! I wish all my single friends lived together and across the hall. But I would also love Entourage!

Hubby and I rent on Netflix, that way we can gobble up episodes faster.
TV show.. the first thing that popped in my mind goes way back — I definitely do not want to be on BSG, eventhough we are sad it ended.
The second thing was — Brady Bunch!
I want an Alice, a Hawaiian Luau on the beach — minus the 6 kids. That would be perfect!

Definitely “The Office”.

“24″ or The Office or Magnum P.I.
Someone mentioned Mythbusters. That would be the one for me. Of course, with a chenmistry degree, and a love for doing things and seeing what happens, I’d fit right in. The episode testing the mentos and Coke theory (using pig guts)? It was so up my alley.
I also think it would be kinda cool to be Dr. Who’s companion.
.-= Rachel´s last blog ..Unconscious Mutterings =-.
That’s a good one Rachel.
It’s a tie between Diner’s Drive Ins and Dives and Friday Night Lights.
In my opinion Guy Fieri has THE COOLEST job ever!!! And well… I want to live in Dillon, work for Buddy Garrity and watch Smash, Riggins & Saracen play football every Friday
!!!
Hello…Charlie.
Jill Monroe from Charlie’s Angels kicks butt! Who doesn’t love a strong, gun toting, leather jacket wearin’ woman w/wings(I do mean hair).
Or Flo from Mel’s Diner
“Kiss My Grits!”
My husband and I just finished catching up on “Lost” with the DVD series. We’re sort of obsessed. My husband says it’s like peek-a-boo for grownups.
Hmmm. I think I’d want to be trapped in “30 Rock” because something tells me Liz Lemon and I would be friends.

Any Alton Brown show on Food Network. The man is a genius, in my book.
I’m going to go old school and say “Hogan’s Heros.” They may have been prisoners of war, but those guys had some good times.

Netflix on demand currently has all the old seasons to watch online right now… I’ve been re-watching the old seasons to get myself ready. I’m obsessed with that show!

Pete,
You’ve got to have some strange book of poignant questions. Your blogs are always thought-provoking and oftentimes spontaneous.
I’m not sure how I’d respond. Maybe I could be trapped in ‘Who wants to be a millionare’, and play until I win the million dollars.
I’m not much for TV. I like The Office though, very sarcastic. Right up my ally.
You rock man.
.-= Jordan Clark´s last blog ..My Electronic Hiatus =-.
As much as I love Lost, I don’t think I would want to be stranded on that particular island. I would say Desperate Housewives cause they could seriousely use a cute african american girl on the show that isn’t keeping her crazy son in the basement!
.-= DisneyCyndi´s last blog ..Pastor’s Wives =-.
Pastor Pete, I’m not sure that you can watch Lost online outside of the US. I have been in Paris, France for the month and the ABC video player says that it will not work outside of the US, BUT iTunes let me download TV show episodes!
My husband and I are completely obsessed. I really want to be friends with every one of the characters. LOST is hands down the best TV show ever made. And the season premiere comes right around my birthday, which is so nice of them
So, all that to say if I was going to be stuck on a show it would most definitely be LOST!
I would totally want to get trapped in Castle. Granted, I’d probably be one of the murder victims whose killer they’re looking for, but I’d take that if it meant being “trapped” in that show for a month.

Definitely House…there’s something about being able to figure out what’s wrong with people and see them healed. Plus I’d love to banter back & forth with House. what a nutcase.
Tough to choose. Either “Chuck” or “Castle”. My wife and I love both of these shows and they happen to both be on Monday nights. Probably “Castle” because I’ve always wanted to be a novelist, but my wife would have to be Beckett so we could actually have the romance that is slowly developing between the two of them.
Hey Pete. Have you seen the new book by Chris Seay called “The Gospel According to Lost”? My wife is reading it now.

Actually being “in the show” would make Lost much less desirable, I think. I wouldn’t want to be in a plane crash and disconnected from the world for 3 months… er, 3 years… er, maybe there was actually no crash at all? (We’ll see how this season goes, lol)
I’d have to say Heroes would be the one I’d like to be in. Come on. Being able to fly? Or stop time? Or move things with my mind? Or heal instantly? The possibilities are endless. Though, with my luck, my power would be lame, like being able to turn my nose a different color or something like that

I am going for Biggest Loser….after 5 kids I could seriously use some tightening up the good old fashioned way. I wouldn’t be much help on the weight side of things but I would love it.
I love LOST. It would be interesting to be trapped in the show for a month. I think all the stress and anxiety would wear me down! If you realize all they’ve been through and it’s been 3 years time, I think I’d have gray hair and I probably wouldn’t listen to Ben at all!
One time I watched Final Destination before flying. Not a good idea. I was really afraid something was gonna happen..haha. There are so many weird noises on a plane.
I would have to say FRIENDS. It’s like the most funniest TV-show ever. BUT to be honest, I might get tired from all the sarcasm all the time…haha.
