31 Day Challenge

31 Day Challenge_2

I think one of my favorite seasons on Without Wax last year was the 28 day challenge we did leading up to Easter where hundreds of you joined me in reading through the book of Matthew.

With that in mind I want to extend an invitation for you guys to join me for the 31 Day Challenge.

It’s simple. There are 31 days in January and 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs. I want to challenge you to read a chapter a day from Proverbs through the month of January. We’ll start with Proverbs 1 this Friday, January 1.

I’m doing this challenge in conjunction with a new series we’re launching next week at Cross Point entitled Pursuit, The Search for More, where we’re going to go through the book of Proverbs. Whether you’re at Cross Point or not I would love to challenge you to be a part. We’ve even set up a separate blog RIGHT HERE so you can discuss with others what you’re reading. You can also track each others observations by using the twitter hash tag #cp31days.

Do me a favor and leave me a comment if you want to join us.  Then RT this post and let’s see how many people we can get to join!

Are you in?

This comes at such a perfect time. My hubs and I had a date night Monday, to celebrate our 1st date, 14 years ago. We put the kids to bed and relaxed & watched a movie downstairs. But, the movie and its content was disappointing and disturbing. Seemed like a waste of our night together. The next day, my hubs recommended we forgo movies unfit for our souls and instead dig into the Bible together – man, I love that guy. So, this fits perfectly with our intention to fill ourselves with God’s word – together. Thanks – we’ll be joining you from Minn.

    Hi Pete,

I just completed my own quest — the Bible-in-a-month challenge. I read through the entire Bible in the month of December.

It was a great experience. In fact, I documented it in a blog created for the endeavor. If you have a moment, check out facesoflions.wordpress.com.

Trust your folks really benefit from walking through Proverbs!
    Dave

    • Pete Wilson December 31, 2009 at 4:34 pm #

Wow! That’s incredible Dave. I would love to see that reading plan.

      • Dave Wilson January 1, 2010 at 1:05 pm #

        Hey Pete,
Mine was kind of a do-it-yourself plan. I just took the 1094 pages of my Bible and divided it by 30 days. It came down to about 37 pages a day, or around two hours per day. Read from 5:30-7:30am for the most part. Started at the front, and worked all the way through Revelation.

Have a great time with your Proverbs challenge. Should be a very fruitful time!

        Dave

WOW! I just started Proverbs on the 1st with the intent of reading a chapter each day during my morning prayer time. Now I see that I’m very much NOT alone in the Lord’s leading. I’m joyfully joining each of you reading and praying through Proverbs daily. Looking forward to seeing the wisdom He has in store for all of us.
