My Former Gig
It seems every generation has a group of these guys who every girl really thinks they want and every guy pretends to hate but really wants to be. I’m asking you to abandon all of your dignity today and answer this life defining question.
Whose your favorite boy band of all time?
Thanks to Tripp and Jarrett for the photo. As usual, nice work fellas.

OMG!! That photo kinda nauseates me.
Oh, my fav boy band? The Osmond Brothers, of course:)
OMG that is the best!!! I was a big fan of BSB!
.-= jessica´s last blog ..Step of Faith =-.
@Jessica, I can so see you being a BSB fan!
New Kids on the Block…i feel so ashamed.
tough question. i was never really that into “boy bands” (i know everyone says that, but i mean it). never had concert t-shirts, posters adorning the walls of my bedroom, guess if i had to choose i’d say n sync?
.-= Lindsey Nobles´s last blog ..Relearning Extravagance =-.
@Lindsey, that’s a pretty safe bet. NSYNC was the classiest and probably most talented of the bunch.
(Slowly shaking my head in disapproval…)
Favorite boy band? That’s an oxymoron.

RFLOL–uhhhh…and I thought I was having a hard time narrowing down questions to send you for an interview, now, after seeing that pic…I’ve got soooo many more! LOL!
Jackson 5. Love that sound.

Do Duran Duran and Def Leppard count?
.-= Michelle´s last blog ..Life in Paradox (Part 3) =-.
the ORIGINAL boy band…..the beatles.
no, not the Beatles, they actually wrote music and played instruments. boy bands can’t do that…
first boy band. The Monkees. my favorite.
N’sync – I saw them in Memphis at the Pyramid back when they were cool
It’s also back when Justin Timberlake had really curly hair
I was also a New Kids on the Block fan – I had a NKOTB rain coat in 1st grade
.-= Brittany´s last blog ..Fire at Longhorn =-.
The one, the only, THE BEATLES!
Sadly true
.-= Tracy´s last blog ..Wanna hear something cool that happened on a blog? =-.
I loved Boys to Men!
Seriously Pete that photo made me spit the coffee out of mouth. I think thats the second time your blog has done that to me! You should frame that pic and put it in your office so you can get a good laugh when your feeling stressed.
@Jennifer, I’m going to have to decline framing that photo. Somehow I don’t think that’s a good idea.
The Beatles!
Well, you must have a lot of confidence to let a picture like that out on the internet.
Favorite boy band: Westlife
Love their song “Flying Without Wings”
come on pete, your not afraid of what others think are you? I mean it would be a great conversation starter:)LOL!!
I never went crazy over a boy band, but I like them all even as an adult.
.-= Britney´s last blog ..American Education Week =-.
A lot of people here have mentioned the Beatles. Yes, they were boys, and a band, but I’ve never thought of them as a “boy band”. They’re the best, though!
So what I consider to be a boy band? Bands like Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync. I don’t like them. Sure, I liked a few of their songs. I even liked one by 98 degrees. But in general, they all sound the same and get really annoying after a while.
.-= Rachel´s last blog ..Bonfire. 10 years later. =-.
That is hilarious.
I was a big fan of backstreet boys and Nsync.
and Hanson too I had a Hanson night gown when I was like 6
Wow…that picture had me giggling. I didn’t know…I think I’ve seen you on Dancing with the Stars…jk.
Is Boys to Men a boy band? I did love them…and New Kid’s on the Block….shudder….
.-= Jennifer Griffin´s last blog ..Tree =-.
wow pete, that picture kind of creeps me out. Please don’t wear that tank top to church! N*sync- Saw them in concert twice, still listen to their music. i remember the day the No Strings Attached album came out. the second the bell rang, my friend and i drove to the nearest cd store to get our copy.
New Edition. If I had had an iPod back then Cool It Now would have been on repeat.
and now, I am a Jo Bros. fan =)

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. That pictures is just AWESOME!
And my fave boy band. N’Sync. Oh My Gosh. LOVED THEM!
I was also a huge Britney Spears fan, but you didn’t ask about that did you. heeeee!

New Kids on the Block…yes I am that generation! Wow I can’t believe I am typing this for all the world to see. I am so ashamed
FYI I wasn’t actually allowed to own NKOB stuff…only christian music people. Yes I was one of those kids. Explains a lot.
.-= jessica´s last blog ..Galatians 6 and other thoughts =-.
Oh no; I never got into boy bands. Ever.
No posters, no concerts to see them, no CDs of them. I love music but somehow all that never appealed to me.

Yes–The Monkees! Here they come…walkin’ down the street… love it! Can’t believe I’d forgotten them.
.-= Tina Dee´s last blog ..10 Reasons Not To Sign Up For My e-Newsletter =-.
I can honestly say that I never liked a boy band at anytime. Backstreet boys were popular when I was about 14 and I remember hating their music.
So if I had to say what my favorite boy band of all time would be:
U2
.-= Kyle Reed´s last blog ..Feeling Fertile =-.
Oh my…official pastor to poison, now a backstreet boy…
made me laugh on a stressful day!
Favorite boy band has to be Menudo of course!
Doobie Brothers – shows my age!
.-= Paul Fowler´s last blog ..Worship Confessional Nov 8 =-.
now that is just plain hilarious…and the funny thing is that you totally look like you fit in!!! Mine has to be New Kids on the Block! What can I say….it was when I was a teenie bopper
.-= Maureen´s last blog ..20 hours =-.
MENUDO! Does anyone else even compare!?
.-= kc´s last blog ..A Pretend Friend =-.
NKOTB. and i’m not ashamed.
I went to a few of their concerts as a 12-13 yr old and then again this past year as a 29 year old. I have never seen so many 20-something and 30-something women revert back to their teenage years the very minute they took the stage. it was hilarious and too much fun at the same time.
some feelings just never go away. ha!
NSYNC! I knew all the words AND the dance moves! I’m pretty sure I was borderline obsessed. Who knows, you and Brandi might have a future boy band at your house.
.-= ashley´s last blog ..CMA’s =-.
Hard for me to believe anyone picks bands other than the Beatles.
.-= Bridge´s last blog ..One for Aunt Bridget =-.
Hands down…Boys II Men. I could sing any one of their songs and the ladies would pass out over me, but was around the same time I had really bad breath. LOL
I’m with Britt.
(I so wanted to say Milli Vanilli…)
The Spice Girls!
BOY band? Now AARP bands, but to me, THE BEACH BOYS and BEATLES would do it for sheer volume of decades long hits, both whimsical and serious.
.-= Tom´s last blog ..Brave heart and teeth =-.
@KC, Ha! Now that is the best!!
Boy bands? Meh.
I’m one of those weirdos born in the 70s who was (and still is) into Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, the BeeGees, America, Bread, and more. But not to the extent of having posters on the wall.
I truly did pass up the entire fascination with Menudo, New Kids, Backstreet Boys, BoyzIIMen, 98 Degrees, NSync.
Give me Celine Dion, Alanis Morrisette, Norah Jones, Jane Monheit, Kristin Chenoweth, Ginny Owens, Selah, Watermark, Jill Paquette, Janna Long (of Avalon), Mandisa, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Liz Callaway.

Hanging my head low…. New Kids on the Block (which you can now tell what generation I grew up in). And NO, I did not go to their reunion tour.
That’s a very very well done photo, I must say!!!!
.-= kristy´s last blog ..A bunch of unrelated photos =-.
When I was 10 I thought the new kids on the block had catchy tunes.
I have never been into boy bands too much. Does Metallica count? They have some music that’s good to workout to.
Though I don’t have any children yet I prefer Silly Songs with Larry.
I am comfortable enough in my “manhood” to hug another guy but I don’t think my wife would be comfortable enough to let another man hold my side/stomach like the guy in the middle of the photo is doing to you.

I’m over my “Boy Band” days but my favorite was Backstreet Boys and if I were younger today, it would so be the Jonas Brothers, and I am not ashamed to say that, haha! You have to go with the trend you know, ha!

Fav Boy Band…New Kids on the Block!
.-= Alison´s last blog ..Update on Mary =-.
New Kids hands down. I had a New Kid’s on the Block birthday party when I was ten, including a NKOTB cake and the “Hangin Tough” album on repeat. None of the boys had fun at that party.
I had a huge crush on New Kids On The Block when I was 5. (What was I thinking? Maybe I wasn’t?) But I was (or still am) a bigger Backstreet Boys fan
.-= Sarah´s last blog ..Music Monday =-.
None for me, thanks. In high school, I was a rock/metal fan. Ozzy, Metallica, etc. I was too young for the Monkees, hated New Kids On The Block and too old to even consider the possibility of listening to NSync and The Backstreet Boys when they hit the big time.
It would have to be the Beatles. Yes, they played instruments, but their initial offerings were bubble gum, make the girls shriek stuff like “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, “Love Me Do” and “I Saw Her Standing There.” It wasn’t until Rubber Soul came out that we saw what was to come our way over the next two years when ‘Revolver’ and ‘Sgt. Peppers’ were both released.

NKOTB by far! I was going to grow up to marry Jordan.
.-= Ladybird´s last blog ..Gala-vanting Tonight! =-.
No shock here, but I’ve never really been a boy band fan.
The closest I got was deciding that I fancied Robbie Williams the most out of Take That when most girls fancied Mark Owen. I was like 9 or 10?
So I guess if I had to pick….Take That.
.-= Brunettekoala´s last blog ..Feeling the prayer love! =-.
@Jessica Same here! I liked NKOTB but was never allowed to buy their merchandise! Only Christian stuff!
The New Kids on the Block were my first boy band crush. I was 12 and they were so wickedly radical back then. By the time the Back Street Boys came around I was over the boy band thing. Though I must sheepishly admit I know the words to several of their songs.
Shh…don’t tell anyone.
.-= Kelli´s last blog ..Testament Focused: A Giveaway =-.
It would have to be The Bay City Rollers
Hanson. Without a doubt, Hanson. I am from the same town they are so I thought that meant I was supossed to marry Taylor. I may have done things that could be considered stalking but it was all in the name of love
I still love them, just in a less-obsessive creepy way now.
OMG! i totally have the poster in my locker.
I WANT IT THAT WAY!
u do realize which backstreet boy they made you, right?

Hold on while I put my shame down for a second (it’s fragile). Ok, there. OK, I’ll have to go with NSYNC.
also, there is always the chance of a plus 1 comeback tour.
.-= @b_rewster´s last blog ..How To Be Successful =-.
I can’t say I would ever use the words “favorite” and “boy band” in the same sentence.
.-= Amanda Sims´s last blog ..Fun Factoids =-.
@B_rewster, I can’t believe you were the first one to comment on that!!!!!!! Hilarious.
Do Donny and Marie count? I think that was the last time I went gaga for a singing group. I was 7. I think the closest thing to a “boy band” in my teeny-bopper years ( I sound about 73 but I’m really not!) was Duran Duran and I just couldn’t get into dudes who wore more eyeliner than me. By the time NKOTB, BSB and all the rest came out I was into my “sullen, acoustic, I’m in college now” phase.
.-= Christine´s last blog ..Shoebox Greetings =-.
Oh, look at you! Well, the only popular current boy band that I know is Back Street Boys…..earlier, it would have been the Jackson 5
…yes, I’m that old…
@B_rewster, which one was he? I couldn’t figure out who was missing?
.-= Lindsey Nobles´s last blog ..Relearning Extravagance =-.
ahem…*cough* LANCE *cough*
NKOTB for sure
This is easy, the greatest boy band of all time…
HANSON!
that is HILARIOUS! you have too much time on your hands!!!! just playing. I gotta go back to my pre, preteens and say New Kids, the original boy band! not too proud of that, ha ha.

BSB, N’Sync, NKOTB, 98 Degrees, Westlife, and Hanson. They were all good and I’m not ashamed. I got my Westlife Cd out a few weeks go for driving music for a trip. It brought me back to those Jr High days.

Showing both my nationality and musical choice here, but I have to agree with brunettekoala here and say Take That, even though I’m an 80s child, I was never a big boy band fan, especially not any of the US bands. I was a bit old to be in their target fan range, but since they’ve had a successful comeback, yes thank you!
And despite my undying love for A-ha (not one hit wonders in the UK, thankfully), they don’t classify as a boy band, and I will hurt you if you disagree.
@Diane, I don’t think I’m familiar with “Take That”. I’ll have to look them up.
DC Talk…I was pretty sure I would marry Kevin. One summer I saw them in concert three times.
Hanson by a landslide.

and i enjoyed hanson (in 3rd grade and 4th, i think)
bsb in 4th
bsb and nysnc in 5th.
i still have a bsb cd……and still know most of the words to both bsb and nysnc songs….
oh! and when i was at revelation generation in 07, i think, brian littrell was there and sang a couple of bsb songs. i screamed like a junior high fan girl and sang along at the top of my lungs…and then this lovely picture came to be: http://photos-sf2p.fbcdn.net/v120/80/35/45905185/n45905185_30748116_9565.jpg
