Bats, Laughs, & One Cool Costume
In honor of Halloween I’ve got a few videos for you. The first one is one of the stupidest videos I’ve ever seen but for some reason I can’t stop watching it. I saw it the other day and it makes me laugh every time I think about it.. Please know in advance there is absolutely no spiritual significance at all to this clip. It’s just stupid….and funny.
I’m trying to come up with some kind of idea to scare the kids in the neighborhood tomorrow night. I might have to find a costume like this and get up on the roof or something.
The second video I stole from Brad Ruggles. Just praying my kids don’t see this costume. It totally blows away the costumes we’re wearing tomorrow night.
How about you? What are your kids wearing?

So the transformer is really cool… and in all honesty, I am really surprised someone didn’t majorly hurt that bat… but it is really funny.

The Transformer is an amazing costume. I saw the bat clip last night and I’m also thinking its only a matter of time before somebody decks him : )
Have fun tomorrow…mine are in college so those days are just a happy memory now.

That was a little risky at the ATM. But the one at the gas station was hilarious!
Hailey is going to be a Pumpkin, Tristan will be Batman, and Gavin will be either Shrek, an Army man, or Anakin Skywalker…he’s not sure

I thought the bat was hysterical. Okay, I agree that at the atm, I’d have clobbered the flying mouse, but otherwise…Oh wow! I just emailed it to my family!
Transformer was a cool costume.

Oh my gosh, RFLOL.
My 7 yr old cannot see that transformer one! He’ll want me to make him one–yeah, rigth. I’m more along the lines of making the one Charlie Brown wore on It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. You know, the sheet with all the cut holes into it? LOL.
I liked the bat hanging in the parking garage, LOL–you come across that and what do you do? Hilarious.

Regarding scaring the kids in your neighborhood, I happened to be up flipping channels a few nights ago and saw a brief Martha Stewart clip. I’m not usually a fan of hers, but she had a pretty scary idea.
Using a drill and saw, she cut a small hole through the bottom of a thin, plastic bowl that had a small pedastal-like thing on the bottom. Then she attached a rubber glove (like the ones you use to wash dishes) to the bottom so that you could insert one hand through the glove and reach into the bowl.
She held the bowl with one hand, and buried her other glove-encased hand in the bottom of the candy-filled bowl. When a child reached in to grab a handful of candy, she grabbed his hand and didn’t let go! THAT would have completely freaked me out as a kid. I might not have gone trick or treating again!

Awesome Transformers costume! No kids so we aren’t dressing up…however on my blog I did find lots of fun pet costumes. Not sure our dog would put put with it though!

ok, p.s. i’ve watched this bat video like six times now and am about to cry. my favorite things:
1) the police car flying by, the camera staying focused on the bat, and watching the police car back up.
2) the fact that the guy at the atm is already checking over his shoulder before it happens. and how he keeps running back to punch in a couple prompts even as he tries to be threatening.
3) focusing on the bat’s feet as he trips at the gas station.
Pete: Thank you SO much for sharing this video. I was in a HORRIBLE mood today and had a lot on my mind but now my brain is so numb from laughing that I can barely focus on being upset anymore. Sometimes, these silly blog spots are just as beneficial as the uber philosophical ones. Thanks for what you do.

Okay so I have never posted here, but I read your blog quite a bit. For a moment, I really thought you were serious when you wrote: “Jett’s going as Satan, Gage is going to be an evil spirit, and Brewer the angel of death.” I thought to myself, “What is wrong with him?” I then laughed out loud when I realized it was a joke. I enjoyed your sense of humor today. Thanks for the laugh

Bradley is superman, I’m a witch and Sam’s a whoopie cushion. Funny – all are true to our character!!!
The best thing we had in our neighborhood growing up is something I want to figure out how to do at our house for next year. Olivia Dehaviland lived in a house down the street – a large victorian with a tower on a corner. She started this tradition that went on for years.
The walkway to the house went up to a wrap around porch where there was a large pot of candy. But the walkway was covered by a long keyboard – like a piano keyboard. In the tower, overlooking the walkway, was an organ with a shadow of someone playing. In order to get the candy, you had to walk along the piano keys – which were directly connected to the organ – and played freaky music for the whole ‘hood to hear. Lots of kids couldn’t make it to the candy – they were too freaked!

Yeah, that transformer was pretty cool. Nobody’s dressing up in my family – we don’t do Halloween. I do have to wear a costume for a concert tomorrow. I’m going as “supermom”. I’ll wear an apron with all kinds of things in the pockets – toys, crayons, diapers, cooking utensils, maybe some cleaners or rags. Should be fun.

LOVED the bat video! Laughing so hard. I would have passed out had I actually seen it.
My 15 y/o (who I assumed would not dress up) decided to be Bible Man. We had to shop in the ladies department to find purple tights…my hubby was not exactly pleased. He actually wore his Bible Man cape to school for Red Ribbon Week. He is braver than me for sure!

My nephew would LOVE that transformer costume. We had our Trick or Treat night last night. We had 2 girls from the 50′s, a transformer, a ninja, a spider, a scarecrow, a chilli pepper, a hulk and a batman. The one who was the spider said he was the super spider that turned peter parker into spiderman. He’s almost 3 and loves spiderman, just a little.

Fun!
My kids are all dressing up; my kindergartner had her parade this morning and was dressed as a monarch butterfly. My first grader is a military “Top Gun” type pilot in a little pilot jumper, and my 4th grader is a rock climber. (this means that it’s hard at that age to get costumes that I like and reflect him; and this gives him the opportunity to carry around Daddy’s webbing, belay device, cams, pro, and harness….. which is a real treat!

Totally not kidding when I say that AmyBear will be a bat! I’ll show her this video this afternoon and she will laugh her ever loving head off! We will not, however, give her magnetic shoes and hang her upside down in bus stops or elevators! That bat running over and over into the car at the end was a scream!
Her little sister is a blue witch.
And even for someone who goes nuts when it comes to her kids’ Halloween costumes, that Transformers costume was very cool and way out of my league! I’m glad I have girls, that’s all I can say…unless you find the Barbie or Strawberry Shortcake version of the awesome Transformers costume! Thanks for sharing!

This is so funny. Mainly because my son is dressing up as a ghostbuster complete with proton pack! He is obsessed with the original movie. And even has the Wii ghostbusters game.
He and his cousin walk around singing the theme song.
I’ve never commented here before , but had to after that.
Have a fun Halloween!

that bat video was HYSTERICAL.
and the transformers costume was very creative.
i have no costume for halloween, but a few of my friends on campus made really good ones–one as Wall-E and one as Megahertz–an old Dell computer. Both costumes were made out of cardboard boxes but were great!

I know this suggestion comes too late for this year, but here’s what one parent did when we held “trunk or treat” out of the backs of our cars for the marching band last year. He set up a card table with the candy bowl at the back. There were what looked like several fake heads on the card table, but actually the one in the middle was the very real head of this particular parent, who had face makeup on, etc. He held super still, and just as the kids were close enough to reach for the candy, he moved his head and spoke to them. They were completely freaked out and voted him the best decorated car. This stunt has become something of a legend.
