On the Road Again!

By the time you read this post I’ll be well on my way to the Dominican Republic.

For the next four days I’ll be spending time encouraging and speaking to around 200 pastors from the Dominican Republic and Haiti. There will be 4 different languages represented among the pastors assembled at this G.O. Ministry conference (if you know how fast I talk you know the translators will have their hands full).

John Piper once said…

“God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshipers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. He has an inexhaustible enthusiasm for the supremacy of His name among the nations. Therefore, let us bring our affections into line with His, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts and join His global purpose.”

I’ve been so blessed these past few weeks to be joining God in His “global purpose.”  I’ve been so encouraged by what God is doing around the world in some of the most hopeless of situations.

A highlight of the trip will be getting to hang out with Moises who is the pastor Cross Point sponsors full-time for our Haitian church located in the Dominican Republic. We’ve been friends for 5 years now but obviously don’t get to spend a ton of time together so this is a special time for us. In case you’re wondering he’s the one on the right. :)

I’m not sure about our internet setup, but I’ll certainly post if I get the chance. In the meantime please keep Ryan Bult, Director of Missions at Cross Point, and myself in your prayers during our travels.

Here’s a few of my favorite posts from last summer when I was in the Dominican. This will give you an idea of the culture.

  1. How awesome it is that you get to travel again! When I went to Africa, it was so beautiful to see the people in Rwanda praising and worshipping our God! Like it says….every knee will bow and every tongue in every tribe will confess that Jesus is our Lord! Safe travels to you all!

  15. Safe travels…one thing I’ve learned living overseas….God is absolutely without a doubt everywhere. Seems so obvious and of course I always knew it in my head but it’s been good for me to get out of my comfort zone and be reminded of that fact in my daily life. Our moms in touch group here thru the years has had women praying together in many languages…I like to think living in an international community has given me a small picture of heaven.

  24. Hi Pete. We were introduced last Sunday. Me and my family attended your church for the first time. Our three boys (yes, all under the age of 6) were moved by what they called God “rock” music (air guitar and chair-back keyboards were heavily used during the service) . Todd and I were moved by your humility.
I hope that your travel allows you some time to reflect, repair, and radiantly add to your true purpose. Mother Teresa has been popping up in my books lately – and I love this quote:
“We can do no great things, only small things with great love”.
I believe each small act of kindness changes the world.
