I’m so stinking proud of our Nashville campus right now I can’t stand it!
In my message this morning I knew I would be referencing my India trip, so late this week we had Compassion International overnight us 50 sponsor kits. Each packet represents a kid who is waiting to be sponsored. While I wasn’t making a push for child sponsorships I thought it would be a good idea to have a few on hand in case people felt led to sponsor child. We actually had a missions table with several ways people could respond.
By the end of the second service every packet WAS GONE and people were signing up on an overflow list! I was blown away by everyone’s authentic desire to make a difference.
We made a pact today that we were not going to settle for our lives counting for anything less than changing the world. I believe more than ever the local church CAN change the world.
Thank you Cross Point. I’m so proud to be one of your pastors.
We’ve ordered 200 more packets for both campuses, but if you’re impatient like me and still interested you can click on the image below to look through a list of children who are waiting to be sponsored in India.

And by the way, here’s another video from India I forgot to post while I was on my trip. I saw it yesterday and just started cracking up. I saw a lot of things that continue to wreck me, but there were also a few light-hearted moments like this. Sometimes you’ve got to laugh through the tears.
I think this is India’s version of a waterpark….

That is so awesome! I am waiting for my husband to get home from work so I can see if I got for Mother’s Day the only thing I wanted- a sponsored child! It must be so awesome to be part of such a giving, Christ-filled church!

That was my version of a waterpark growing up. We were frequently in the dirty pond having a ball. Clueless of things like crystal clear chlorine water and water slides.
@Melody, It’s a real honor to serve here. I’m blown away and humbled.
“we were not going to settle for our lives counting for anything less than changing the world”
that’s amazing. so inspiring. so my hearts desires.

So cool you ran out of packets!
Oh Pete — if only this statement will become the heart cry of Christians everywhere! “we were not going to settle for our lives counting for anything less than changing the world”
We can the power of Christ within us. And through this power we can make a difference in this world. If we will only look to Him for the steps we should take!
Great video! And I clicked that button a while ago and we’re sponsoring two beautiful little girls.

@Mary, that really is the prayer of my heart these days.
@Brewster, do you know how bad I wanted to dive in with them??? I got this video the day I was hours away from death, so I thought it probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do.
I love it. Thanks to the inspiration shared by the Compassion Bloggers on your trip, we (my kids and I) gave the gift of life today for Mother’s Day. Instead of spending $32+ on flowers that will soon die, we sponsored a child in India as part of our gift to Mom. She was pretty stoked! Taught my kids (ages 6 and 9) a great lesson too (people are more important than things). They are so excited and can’t wait to get our packet in the mail.

Yeah, I thought I was going to go to the website and get one that way. Then I realized I had over 200 precious faces staring at me. “Picking” one and not the other 200?…ouch. So I’m thinking I can wait until you get packets. And I’ll then take the packet I’m given. Whew.
Wow! That IS amazing!!! What an awesome congregation you have over there
ps. the music to your video so perfect. Made me laugh

@maureen, I thought the music was perfect! I downloaded it though and now it’s stuck in my playlist. Not the best song to workout to.
Pete…AMAZING message yesterday. Your statement…”You’ve got to do something” just keeps playing over and over in my mind! I don’t think I have seen that much passion in you during my short time at Crosspoint. It was awesome. Thank you!
That’s why I love Crosspoint, b/c people are always so giving, loving, compassionate, and servants. There is a real strong sense of community there and I am so proud to be a member of the BEST church in Nashville!!!!

I didn’t see the packets….I want on the list for one of the 200 packets that are coming! And the sermon was amazing yesterday…..all 4 times!

@Megan, nobody should have to sit through that 4 times! Thanks for the incredible worship you helped lead. It was so powerful.
Hey bro,
I am proud of how you brought your passion out yesterday in such a special way! I love serving alongside you. There is no doubt that the church can change the world by sharing the love of Christ with anybody and everybody. Lead the way my friend!!!
Okay, I might sound really naive in saying this…but I am kinda confused by “I believe more than ever the local church CAN change the world.”
I believe this is the way (maybe the only way in many cases) sort of in a grass roots effort God is moving and changing the lives of so many people around the globe. I don’t know if you were saying that tongue in cheek or if you were saying it kind of to be encouraging…but I have seen so many stand up and make real sacrifices as of late to feed and clothe and take in the needy and it is starting with the “local” church and I am so honored to partner with you to feed some kids around the world. Yay.
kristiapplesauce’s last blog post..Monday Prayer
That is a very cool thing to read about.
I am sitting here listening to Ravi Zacharias on a podcast wondering if a future ‘Ravi’ is going to be raised up from a child that is being sponsored today. Not to diminish the work that is being done in every child’s life but just thinking about how small acts can have long lasting impacts.

Didn’t make it until the 3rd service. I had meant to go on-line since following your blog in India. After hearing your message yesterday, it is done now. My child’s name is Simon. Elaine

@Pete bro you ABSOLUTELY blew me away yesterday. My in-laws were in town for Mothers Day; they are very strong in their faith and this was their second visit to Crosspoint and same as the first time, they were very impressed and blown away by your passion as well as the passion of such a young demographic of our church. Very proud to be led by such passionate servants of God and His people.
Your words brought tears to my eyes so many times yesterday, there is no telling how much more you would have if I would have brought tissue! Love ya man!—Mack
Pete I enjoyed hearing your awesome sermon 4 times yesterday and each time it cut right to my heart. As a farther with 3 daughters the images of the girls in the slum’s really tore me up.
Pete you have touched my heart on many occasion during your sermons but this Sunday you touched my soul. As Blake put it “a Spiritual karate chop to the forehead!”
I am so blessed that one Sunday morning I stumbled into the Gower Elementary School cafeteria several years ago. Thanks for your ministry.
@Alex, I”m so glad you walked in that day several years ago as well.
Thanks for serving yesterday. You using your gifts made an impact on that service as well.
And why am I not surprised that your CP family is overwhelmingly generous?
The leaders set the tone after all~

Pride is sinful.
I came to your blog via Angie Smith during the India trip. That was just God’s hook to lead me to your series “Hope Now”. The power of the internet to spread life and HOPE is staggering. Those messages have been water for a a dry and weary heart that was DRIFTING into despair. May God richly bless you as you pour out rivers of living water…and more importantly may YOU, your wife and precious children be refreshed, protected and have wide margins for the care of your own minds, bodies, souls, and spirits!
