Pete,

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I have been wondering about this since I recently starting sponsoring 2 boys in India through Compassion. I received my first letters from the boys just a few days ago. I am truely blessed by them (even though the blessing is supposed to be going their way, God is so good!) It is very encouraging and reinforcing to me to be able to read about your group's first-hand interaction with Compassion. I just wanted to say THANK YOU all sharing this experience with us.

@Rachel C. it really varies from area to area or state to state. A couple states here in India even have laws against conversion.

However, most seem to be fairly neutral. The areas of Kolkata where we are is only 1% Christian so I don't think there is even a strong enough presence to cause much trouble.

Pete,
I am under the impression that Christianity is not necessarily looked upon with favor by the government and people of India. Can you please explain how Compassion is able to operate with impunity there? Thanks.
