Last night I finished a great new book which was just released entitled “Eyes Wide Open” by Jud Wilhite. The back cover describes it well when it says…
“In Eyes Wide Open, Jud Wilhite invites you to discover the real you. Not the you who pretends to be perfect to satisfy everyone’s expectations. Not the you who always feels guilty before God. Not the you who looks in the mirror and sees failure. The real you, loved and forgiven by God, living out of your identity in Christ.”
I had the opportunity to meet Jud back in October and he’s hands down one of the most humble leader/pastor/authors I’ve ever met. He’s the Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church an awesome church in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he is continually trying to help people discover their true identity in Christ. His sweet wife Lori has a great blog and shows up here on Without Wax from time to time.
One of my favorite quotes from the book which really resonated with me was when Jud said “I feared that becoming a believer would mean that I would no longer be a unique person but an imitation-think like all other Christians, dress like them, wear my hair like them, listen to the same music. What I discovered was the opposite. As I embrace God’s view of me, I become more fully my own self.”
If you have a desire to see yourself from God’s point of view then pick this book up. You won’t be disappointed.

Oh, wow. What a great quote and I can identify completely with it. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to check out “Eyes Wide Open.”

@Shawn, you’ll love it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the book. I have seen the book and have thought about reading it. That is an awesome quote too!
Thanks for the mini review Pete! I’ve been on the lookout for some good inspirational books of late, and I’m definitely gonna pick this one up! On that note, if you have any others you’d like to recommend, I’m all ears. Thanks man and I’m seriously praying for you and all those heading to India TOMORROW! God bless!

@Theresa, Ha! Maybe next time.
Yay, another book to add to my ever-growing list of books to read!
btw, if I don’t get the chance to say it tomorrow (and since I don’t know exactly when you’re leaving for India), have fun serving God in India! I can’t wait to hear about it. I love hearing missions stories and stories of God at work, and I have a feeling that this will be both!
I’ll be praying for you! (When do you return, though? I forget.)
