Twitter is Blowing Up

twitter1

I don’t know if you noticed but thanks to Ashton and Oprah Twitter is really exploding (Oprah just joined on Friday and already has 400,000 + followers). And while I wasn’t really excited about Oprah joining twitter I was pretty excited one of my favorite pastors ever, Andy Stanley joined twitter yesterday. Just one more way I can learn from his leadership.

In case you’re looking to follow someone besides Ashton and Oprah I thought I would give you guys the opportunity to follow each other.  It’s an incredible way to network, learn, and share together!

If you’re on twitter just introduce yourself and leave your twitter name. Oh and I almost forgot, if you have a favorite twitter tool of some sorts you use to enhance the twitter experience tell us about it in the comments.

Go!

Thanks Pete for letting us introduce ourselves to each other on twitter. I’m a pastor who likes to share about technology and life in a small town on twitter at http://twitter.com/faithengineer

I love using tweetdeck to group together different people I follow on twitter. I’ve tried all the newer programs, but I keep coming back to tweetdeck. check it out

I am on Twitter… yesterday I twitted about a deer that I saw sleeping by the highway. I have my tweets tied to my facebook account so that it updates my status. There was much jovialness going on about my deer tweet. My tweets also show up on my blog and I sometimes use them as a reminder to myself to do something which is unfortunate for those persons following me :)

I’m also really excited to see Andy Stanley joining Twitter. I think Twitter is a great way to follow the thought process of interesting and amazing people that you would otherwise not get to interact with.

    I’m @JeremyBarr on Twitter.

I’ve been using TweetDeck a lot for Twitter stuff, but I also like DestroyTwitter on my Mac and I’ve just started using Tweetie for Mac also.

I’ve been on twitter for 16 months and I love it! I’m a worship arts pastor and fulltime seminary student – 7 courses left to complete – hooray!
One tool that I use is skimmer. This allows me to tweet, update my facebok status, and upload pics to twitpix without having to open several windows. One program to run them all.
BTW – I really appreciate your blog!

I think I use every iPhone Twitter app available… Tweetie, Twitterfon, Twitterlator Pro, Twitterific, Twitastic, Tweetsie. I made a couple of those up.

On the desktop, I’m currently addicted to PeopleBrowsr. If Tweetdeck had ADHD, it would change it’s name to PeopleBrowsr.

I’ve noticed more people this week trying to become Twitter popular (at least that’s what it appears they are doing) by dropping down to only a few followers hoping to keep the large number following them. It doesn’t work for me. I catch them with friendorfollow.com I don’t understand this logic when Tweetdeck and other programs make it so simple to streamline who you actually read and keep up with. If you want to be in the social network world I think it has to be a 2 way exchange.

    BTW, I’m at @ronedmondson

I’m a Christ-follower working in corporate America. My twitter id is @bruceericatdell.

Dell has a transparency policy about publicly disclosing that we work for the company in any digital media vehicle (Twitter, blogs, forums etc). This potentially creates a challenge for a believer working in secular environment so I have to stay away from some topics. That’s better than the alternative of managing two Twitter accounts — too much for me!

As a result, my list of followers includes work people (IT folks), social media gurus (@chrisbrogan) and believers worldwide.

    Great stuff, Pete.

If you’re an iPhone user, I highly recommend Tweetie by atebits. It’s the best Twitter app out there. If you’re not a hardcore Twitter user and want a free iPhone Twitter app, I’d go with TwitterFon. It’s definitely the best free app.

Regarding a desktop app, my personal favorite is Tweetie for Mac (also by atebits). I was using TweetDeck for a while, but it can be annoying (it’s an Adobe Air app, it has an annoying notification system, and it doesn’t match the overall look of my OS. . . I know, picky).
