Florida, Palm Trees, and a Couple of Alligators

As I mentioned yesterday we’ve been down in Naples, Florida visiting a friend from Cross Point. We’ve had a blast. We’re traveling back to Nashville today so I thought I would share a few of my favorite pictures from our little trip.

Notice the picture of the alligator.  I took this picture while Brandi and I were walking down to the beach yesterday. When we walked up she was submersed about a foot under water. All we saw were five very small alligators. While taking a few pics of the baby alligators the mama suddenly came to the top and started to make a move for me. Needless to say we decided we were a little too close to her babies and took a few steps back.

Luckily, I got the picture and survived to post it.

Looking forward to part 3 of Backseat Jesus tomorrow! Hope you guys are having a great weekend.

What are your weekend plans?

My plans include: finishing a Easter wreath for my sister, cleaning, doing laundry, listening to some great music, going over my Sunday School lesson and a leiserly ride on the back of Big Al’s Harley!

    AND eating some fantastic food!

All that matters is that you got the great pictures!!! Sacrifices must be made sometimes, and that might mean a limb or two. hehehehe. Wise decision to move on back :)

Wow – that’s a little too close to that alligator, I think! My husband is terrified of alligators…and we’re going to Florida this summer…I don’t think I’ll forward this post to him. :)

Glad you guys had a good trip!

Are u aware of the statistics of alligators? Of alligators and babies!?! I’m glad God has more in store for you, cuz unless your camera has incredible, across-the-swamp-zoom, you really came close! That’s comin from this Orlando native! Gators aren’t to be messed with… You know a gator ate Dan’s poor wienerdog when we were kids. :(

Glad you had a great trip and glad your back in safe territory now.

  21. Jill March 22, 2009 at 3:41 am #

WOW! Your pictures are beautiful! You and Brandi are gorgeous together with the sunsetting! Nothing can compare to the artwork of His hands :)

You were seriously close to that gator – YIKES! God is certainly not done with you yet :)

All of your photos are good – what camera do you use? I just stepped it up a notch for myself and went SLR! Can’t wait to start shooting our children and His creation with it this week :)

Blessings and love to your family,
    Jill

We used to live about thirty miles north of Naples (if that) before God called us to Southern and then on to Chicagoland. Some of our family is still there and this time of year we miss it. The pictures are beautiful.

The rest of the weekend includes just rest. The previous part of the weekend has kept us hopping. I blogged about my Friday. Saturday included attending a funeral then celebrating a family birthday.
This evening will include student ministry – doing a review of the Live Love Conference they went to. God’s so good to me.

Those are GREAT photos, Pastor Pete. I must say, though, the pics of the alligator and her babies brought back frightful childhood memories from watching the movie “Alligator” (the movie about the baby alligator that was flushed down the toilet). Dumb, I known, but is scared the begeezes out of me when I was 7 years old. And JUST when I had gotten over my fear of water from seeing “Jaws” for the first time, I had to go and sneak in the movie theater to see THAT movie!! AWESOME sermon today, by the way! You and your staff are SO insanely gifted!

So glad to see you and Brandi enjoyed yourselves on a lovely vacation! I just got back to NJ from vacationing in the Keys and am getting caught up on blog-reading… and I can totally relate to how natural & easy it is to just want to praise and be left in awe with the beauty that the Lord has created! Including some amazing animals like alligators – I held a baby one (under park ranger supervision!) in the Everglades yesterday!!!
