I caught this video of my friend Maurilio singing in the shower this weekend at our board and elder leadership retreat (no worries there was no nudity in the filming of this video). And who knew? The guy can sing! I don’t know what the heck he was singing, but he can sing. So crank up your speakers and enjoy!
Isn’t it funny how we all become rock stars in the shower. Not that you care, but you can CLICK HERE to find out why you sound so much better in the shower. There apparently is an actual scientific explanation.
So I want to know if you sing in the shower. If so, whose your favorite artist to belt out in the shower?
Mine? Bon Jovi. I can nail “Wanted Dead or Alive” in the shower. Cause I’m a cowboy…

I don’t know what he was singing but I suddenly felt compelled to turn the lights down, light a candle, and pour a glass of red.
Hmmmm, maybe he has a future in entertainment.
oh, and by the way….I would pay big money to hear you sing that Bon Jovi song. Maybe a fundraiser for Crosspoint……I’m just saying….. I bet there are others too who would pay up to hear that.
Wilson,
Firs of all what goes around, comes around. I guess this is time to post the “sensitive” pictures I took during our trip to California a few years back. I was holding on to them for such a times as this.
The song I was singing in the shower is an old Brazilian folk song I have not heard in 30 years. It just came to me out of nowhere. The part you recorded says: “cry banana tree, cry because tomorrow I’m leaving.” Pretty stupid I know.
Watch your back, Pete
Maurilio
“Watch your back, Pete” LOL!
Hey Maurillio, don’t be embarrassed. Sounded like you have an awesome singing voice! I wish I sounded that good.
I sing in the shower, but mostly it’s just whatever songs we are rehearsing for the church choir. I’m not ready for American Idol yet.
Jan Connair’s last blog post..Dear Sharyn,
It sounded so much more spiritual than “cry banana tree, cry because tomorrow I’m leaving.”
I hate to think about pay backs!
That is Funny.. Yes I practice my Kidstuf songs in the shower…:) Everything sounds better in there

I love your shower voice.
Cmon Pete… Bon JOVI!

Maurillo sounds great. When is he gonna sing at church?
…maybe not the banana tree song.. but something else.
I usually sing songs I have to learn or sing something in a fake opera voice. I also make up songs about my cats cause they always try to jump in.
NO WAY! Never! My friend sings Move Along by All American Rejects. That’s a great song to hear coming from the shower!

I’m a fan of Maurilio!
I like the song! And his voice! Maurilio is cool!
I used to sing in the shower but now that I have a baby I do not because I enjoy my shower as being my only quiet alone time.
When completely alone in the house I’ve been known to become my two favorite witches, Elphaba and Glinda, while in the shower. I sound horrible, but man, can I picture being up on a broadway stage!
I can’t wait to see the pay back!

Okay, so…you know what I love about this blog?
One day I’ll read it and think, “Wow. I wish more high profile pastors were as open and honest about themselves. The world would be a better place!”
The following day, I read it and think, “That Pete Wilson…what a dork!”
(cause I’m a cowboy — snort!)

@britt, I can’t imagine how good you sound in the shower. Ok, that sounded really bad. You know what I mean.
ha!!
I know what you meant.
thanks.
There is a commercial that has a guy singing in the shower messing up the words… I like to sing his messed up version of “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” because it comes out “Sugar Fried Honey Butts”
I also sing in the car and purposely mess the words up… much to my daughters chagrin.
Feliz Navidad becomes “Fleas on My Dog”.
I do like to sing “That I could still go free” in the shower because of the acoustics.

So with you on the Bon Jove – that is one of my top CD’s of all time!
I don’t/can’t sing in the shower. First, two or three mornings a week I shower at the Y after a workout. No singing there! The other mornings I am awake before my wife even knows there is that time in the morning and the last thing I want to do is wake her! When I shower after cycling, I have no hair so shower is 5 minutes tops. If I did I wouldn’t mind singing like Michael Sweet (Stryper) or Dennis DeYoung (Styx) or Steve Perry (Journey) or Steve Walsh (Kansas). Oh man, have I dated myself?

I usually sing “The Christmas Song” (chestnuts roasting on an open fire) in the shower. Year round too. Not sure why, I guess I just like it.

When I first was listening to him sing, I was like “why does that tune sound familiar??? But I couldn’t place it. Then when i went to write a comment I saw that he said it was an old Brazilian folk song and I was totally getting it!!!! I was a missionary in Brazil for 5 years before Africa and Israel and I know I’ve heard it before! Crazy!!!! Its a small world
And yes, he does have a good voice!!!

Dear friends,
Your kind and yet misguided encouragement might lead to more posts on my blog of shower-singing videos with strange melodies from places far away.
I might need to setup a sound/video studio in my bath. Hmmm

I love it!! I can’t sing in the shower or out… it scares even me. But, my hubby sings all the time… show tunes, 80′s rock ballads, Johnny Cash… and he’s great… at singing!

I used to sing in the shower all the time but I don’t anymore.
Pete that’s hilarious. You better watch out though! What camera do you have? It seems easy to use and I am trying to find one to get my friend. She is currently in labor and her husband is off to Iraq soon so I thought it might be a nice gift so he can see his daughter grow up!

I couldn’t help but think the line in the Bon Jovi song…”on a steel horse I ride” might be pretty funny sung on your roof while “clinging” for life if you know what I mean?.
I keep singing that dang song now to myself and when I got to that line I burst into a fit of laughter while thinking of you do “doing the nasty” to your roof.
anyway, back to work (laundry)
I don’t sing in the shower…something about a Psycho movie my sister and her friend tried to make me watch 30 yrs ago!!! Gotta know what all’s going on around me!!! (that and living in a foreign country!)
Left alone in the house, I sing loud and proud! My girls say I can’t sing but somehow before they became part of my life I was in the top choir in high school and sang in the church choir!
Not trying to be spiritual, but in the house ALONE, I sing the OLD hyms….Farther Along, Old Rugged Cross and usually There is a Fountain. Makes me feel young and worship is just so easy to enter from there!
Would love to hear some Bon Jovi, Pete!!!

My dogs howl when I sing, and I sing all the time.
I love to sing in the shower, but I usually only sing one song… “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge. I walked down the aisle to it at my wedding, and I swear I sound just like Ewan McGregor in the shower!!! Just ask my husband.
Amy
@jessica, It’s a flip video camera. I love it. Very small and easy to use. You’ll love it. They even have a HD version now.
i’m a sugarland, sheryl crow, carrie underwoood kind of girl.
wow he can sing. i do sing it the shower if i’m the only one home. but usually it’s whatever i was listening to on my ipod the day before.

Songs that get stuck in my head. for some bizarre reason these are commonly
Can’t Fight the Moonlight – LeeAnn Rimes
Sweetly Broken – Jeremy Riddle
Joyful, Joyful – (Sister Act 2 version)
Which is weird because they do not remotely reflect my taste in music!!!

You know, Ellen is currently having a “Bathroom Concert Series” on her show featuring famous people singing in a shower with her since everyone likes the acoustics in a bathroom… and she’s having a contest for viewers to send in video of themselves singing in the shower for a chance to come on the show and sing with her.
Just sayin’… Maurillo could be famous. Or everyone could get a good laugh out of you putting the camera back on yourself to giggle at your own prank. Either way, epic win.

My favorite shower song is “That’s Amore” though I have been known to stay in the shower long enough to complete his “Best of…” album.
In the supermarket, I usually sing songs by Marc Anthony.

I am not a shower singer, never have been. I think I have this fear that I will flip back the curtain and there will stand 20 or 30 people all laughing at my singing.
I hope my therapist doesn’t read your blog.
@Harold, Dude you’ve got an incredible voice. You would have more than 20 or 30 people listening in!
I sing so bad Pete, I dare not even in the shower.
Although, I will crank it up and sing in the car where I cannot even hear myself.

I mainly sing oldies, like “It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to…” My 15-year old son just told us on Tues. one of the best things about being left home alone is showering and singing at the top of his lungs- the joys of being 15!
