BackSeat Jesus
This weekend we’re kicking off a new series entitled “Backseat Jesus”. I can’t tell you how excited I am. I’m afraid it’s going to be one of those ‘controversial’ series, so I could really use your prayers.
I’ve been studying Ezekiel 16 for week one and it’s been rocking my world. If you get a minute take some time to read it before Sunday. It might brace you for the truth I think God has for all of us as a community.
Here’s the promo video. Feel free to post it on your blogs, facebook, and myspace. You’ll also want to check out the website we’ve put up for the series at www.backseatjesus.tv Invite a friend and we’ll see you Sunday!

Pete, just went to the C3 conference in Dallas. I listened to 15 messages in 4 days, culminating with TDJ’s message on the widow woman whom Elisha filled her oil vessles so that she could flow out. That’s what I want my life in Christ to be, filled up, so I can flow out to the world around me. And if filled, Jesus can’t possibly be in the back seat. I suspect this will be an awesome, convicting series of messages, and one the evil one will attack. My prayers are for you.
And if you want some other options on cool, front seat Jesus video, check out http://www.iamsecond.com
Good luck my friend.

Do you have like videos of your sermons at Cross Point?I know from experience I find audio podcasts really difficult to take in.
This is so relevant to where I’m at, just struggling to trust God with my whole life again.
Will be praying for all of you guys at CP throughout.

If I am completely honest, I have had moments when I’ve locked Jesus in the trunk (and pushed the whole car in the river). But, He always reappears in my lfe. I am thoroughly and humbly grateful for His love and persistence in dealing with this crazy driver!

Pete,
Your video stuff is outstanding. Never been to a service or heard a message by you but if the videos are an indication, they got to be awesome.
Sounds like a series I need to hear.
Thanks!

great stuff!! the thing people don’t often realize is that if we keep Jesus in the back seat, it’s much more difficult to “reach” Him when we need Him. we need our roots down solidly so that when the tough times come (and they will) we are SURE of where Jesus is. i know i went through most of my life with Jesus in the back seat – just enough to keep me safe. well, life is a lot more exciting when He is the one driving. praying for you this weekend.

Great question. I am so quilty of “Backseat Jesus.” I feel like I have been driving down this road for several years with “GPS”…God’s Plan Substituted.” His plan for my life has been substituted for something that I thought he wanted instead of his perfect plan for me. I am still somewhat directionless, remembering the roads that I have journey before, but feeling that I cannot travel in a way that I have traveled in years past. It’s like the wheels are turning, but visualy my eyes are in a blank stare. I am sure that I will watch this video several times because of its convicting pierce that I need. Thanks Pete

I did my homework and read the assignment. As I studied those verses I’ve read so many times, I saw three things. I saw the tragedy of forgetting the depths of God’s provision for us. I saw the unconditional nature of God’s love. And, God help me, I saw myself.
I’m really looking forward to this series……I think.

Love, love, love it! Especially since I know that you mean what you say and that it’s not just some fancy video. Someone in your position has to find it difficult to maintain a humble heart, but to me, you manage quite well. The world needs more Pete Wilsons.

Pete,
I will be praying for you as you embark on this journey with your church! What an awesome topic and so needed for the body to hear. I believe God is calling us to wake up and to listen! I believe the body has been so lulled to sleep just as He warns and those who have ears to hear will and those who know His voice will come alive in the last days. As one of His dumbest sheep I’m listening intently to His voice so I don’t go falling off a deep cliff!
Blessings to you and Brandi!
