Red Releases New Album “Innocence & Instinct”

This week I received a copy of Red’s new album entitled ‘Innocence & Instinct”. Holy cow! I love every song on this album. The song writing is incredible!
Now I have to be honest and say I’m a little biased. Mike Barnes and Jasen Rauch (his wife has a great blog) both attend Cross Point. But even if they didn’t, I would tell you to go get this album.
It meets all three of my requirement for good music. It make me nod my head, drive fast, and think.
Besides buying the album I want to encourage you guys to pray for Red. Whether you dig their style of music or not God’s hand is all over these guys. They have the opportunity to go into venues and play for people that Chris Tomlin and Steven Curtis Chapman never will. They’re on the front lines and I know they would appreciate your prayers.
I’m going to randomly select someone from the comment section and give you your very own copy of “Innocence & Instinct”. Just let me know….
What are you listening to these days?
Here’s the video for “Death of Me” their first single from the new album…

My list is so eclectic but what I have been listening to over and over the last couple of days that has really tied in Matthew 6: 25-34 is Avalon’s remake of the Twyla Paris song “God Is In Control”. Particularly this verse….
“He has never let you down…why start to worry now?”
I downloaded the new RED project from iTunes and plan to give it a listen this weekend.

Just never was a big part of my life. I understand how music moves people and how they are passionate, but it was never me.
Ever since my “marked change” though, I have been listening to more and more music. I love the way it makes me think and I LOVE to write to it.
I need to expand and grow my music tastes. But to answer the question, just downloaded some of The Fray’s new album.

So, in other words, I listen to a lot of TobyMac.

“It meets all three of my requirement for good music. It make me nod my head, drive fast, and think.”
It has been my personal experience that pastors don’t really need a reason to drive fast, they just do. I know 2 older pastors that drive, quite literally, like a bat outta hell. My dh went to a weekend retreat with this great older pastor who was driving a huge winnabago. He was telling a story while driving and he kept turning around so as to make eye contact with my husband. I suppose that would have been okay if they were sitting in Houston traffic, but they were driving down the interstate at 80 mph. The next time they stopped for gas, my husband insisted that it was his turn to drive. (He may have changed his pants, too. I’m not sure…)

This is going to sound a little “George Kostanza (sp?)” but about 6 years ago when I worked at Provident the A&R team was looking for band names. I suggested “RED” as one of them. The I got laughed at. After leaving Provident they sign a band named RED. It has always been something that I wonder… IF this band was already named OR if it was something that VERY SAME A&R guy that laughed at me named them. I guess I will never know.
Anyways… the new U2 is GREAT! I have never really listened to RED because of my story but will have to check em out since Pete is endorsing them.
