Who Would You Like To Meet from the Blogosphere?
This week Brandi and I are lucky enough to host our blog friends Brent and Tam Hodge who are in town for the re:create conference.
Last weekend we enjoyed an infusion of estrogen when Heather Whittaker and her girls spent the night while in Nashville on a girls’ trip.
I love making new friends out in blogosphere and it’s even sweeter when I get to spend some face time with them. I never imagined this virtual community could lead to such authentic community.
If you could get some face time with someone out there in blog world who would it be with?

Through my blog, I have met an amazing young lady, Mare, an AMERICAN living in Nigeria. Her posts are amazing and filled with such wisdom for a young 24 year old writer. She is very inspiring. I will meet her someday- can’t wait!
Actually, about 7 of us “blog Pals” are planning on a “meeting in the middle” weekend in August, so we can SEE our friends beautiful faces.
*I would have said you, Pete, but I already met you at your church when I visited.
If I had to pick just one, it would be Angie from Bring The Rain. I’ve been changed because of her daughter, her words, her Faith.
Blessings, Carolynn
Mare, Sherri, Kathy, Beth, Annie, Stephanie, are some of my blog Pals. Yeah, Sherri as in first comment on this post Sherri. I happen to be one of the seven…..
Joe Thorn and Steve McCoy
Well, while I feel incredibly like a 5th grade suck up brown nosing punk, I would love to sit down and spend some time with Pete Wilson. I respect the way that you balance your church life, family life, and your relationship with your wife. I would love to actually meet you and your family. My wife and I always say, you guys seem like people we could click with. We are always looking for people who are in the ministry who “get it” and understand what we do. So, enough with the brown nosing… but by the way, here’s an apple too.
Ah…the Magnificent 7… and I can’t wait to meet the other 6 in August! (Sherri, Helen, Katdish, Beth, Steph, Mare).
Well, me, clearly with too much spare time on my hands, worked out my world tour to meet bloggers in the flesh last month… you and Brandi were included on it – the 2 Matthews whose blogs I also read I think are friends of yours judging by twitter feeds.
http://learningfromsophie.wordpress.com/2009/01/20/travelling-tuesday-bks-irl-tour/
Ooooooo! PETE WILSON! PETE WILSON! (snort!)
Also, ditto Sherri, Helen, Beth, Steph, Mare, Annie and a host of other wicked awesome people I’ve met in the blogosphere.
Of course I would love to meet Pete and Brandi-you folks are just special people-no doubt……I think I would love to meet Kristiapplesauce….I have stopped by her blog now and again and she just fascinates me. I can’t comprehend what she sees and lives through on a daily basis.
I have 3 people, really. And come to think of it, you all live in the same area (2 of you in the same house!) – so I could meet all of you at the same time!
I would love to meet Angie Smith. Her and Audra’s story has touched my life, and I’d love to thank her in person and sit and talk with her. And the other two are you and Brandi. Well, I’d really love to attend a service at Cross Point someday – maybe the next time I make it to Nashville. And I’d also love to spend a day at the Wilson household, your boys are adorable and fun and I think it’d be a blast to see “A day in the life” at the Wilson’s!!
Note to self: reread reply before hitting submit. I know Angie’s daughter’s name is Audrey. I have a friend names Audra, so that’s naturally what I type.
Honestly, every person who’s blog I read on a daily basis…including you. I only read blogs that make me feel inspired as a person, a mother or a Christian.
Non-CP blogger = Dooce. Although I don’t agree with her all the time, she cracks me up. I am amazed at her story.
CP-blogger = Debbie Elder. I got to Dickson, she goes to Nashville. Although she hasn’t blogged in a while, she and I are both q-tip enthusiasts, which I think is the foundation for a beautiful friendship.
quite honestly, I’d love to meet you and Brandi.
Pete Wilson of course…and Jon Acuff.
You and Brandi…it’s true, oh and those adorable boys!
But also 3 more… Gitz from GitzenGirl~Anita from Mud and Coffee
and Vicky from Westra World….I love my blog peeps, pray for you all the time and feel connected…really really strange isn’t it!?
whomever is behind http://theuprising.typepad.com/my_weblog/
i have so many questions.
Steph here, so-called member of the Magnificent 7 mentioned above. But they didn’t think to actually INVITE me to their meetup. Just assumed I’d come. I feel so taken for granted.
So I guess I’d have to choose you Pete.
Actually, I’ll be in Nashville this weekend. Might have to attend your church!
There are so many, I hate to pick just one. Can I count you and Brandi as one blog? I mean… even though you both have seperate blogs, you are married, so you are 1 in the biblical sense.
I’d also like to meet Angie (Bring The Rain) and Melanie (Big Mama) as well.
and vince here has alot of passion and speaks to me..
http://www.vinceantonucci.com/
There are several, but at the top of my list (wait, I don’t really have a list, that would be weird) is Angie Smith – and her family. and I’d love to meet Todd’s mom someday and talk about Congo. (I’m still waiting for Angie to post more video about that ministry… I hope she can! Someone get that girl some iMovie assistance, PLEASE!)
Another vote for the Magnificent 7! For me that would be….Sherri, Helen, Katdish, Annie K, Steph, and Mare. We’ve kind of become an unstoppable blogforce as this point. Whether that’s a GOOD thing for the rest of the world…well….if you hear about a certain incident in Chicago in August where 7 Christians gals get thrown into the slammer…come bail us out.
And Pete, you and your family are in much the same stage of life as we are- three little kiddos, ministry- so it is always a very applicable read. Plus we love redneck sledding! I’d be happy to meet you any day.
And of course Jon Acuff. Always Jon Acuff.
G.I. and 5th Street for sure. There are many others on “The Wax” who I would love to meet ftf. They are such a great and diverse group.
Of course you and Brandi, as I love reading about yalls life, church, marriage, and kids. Brandi is a hoot!
Angie Smith from Bring the Rain-
Lisa Deese whom I met via your wife’s blog. We chat through facebook periodically.
So many others too!
I would like to meet all my new friends I have made on all the fashion blogs bc they have inspired me to pursue my dream of designing clothes! I hope to have some stuff out in the spring!
I get to meet Brent and Tam this week, too, and I’m really excited about that!! Unrealistically, I think it would be fun to meet Jon Acuff, Big Mama or BooMama. More realistically, I’d love to meet Amy from Amy Wrote This and Brenda from Beside the Sea.
I would like to start a community group with all the bloggers from Cross Point.
Kind of new to the blogosphere but I am definitely going to check out Cross Point next time I’m in Nashville. Looking forward to making some of the authentic relationships you are talking about. http://chrissulli.blogspot.com/
I’ve been able to meet so many awesome bloggers over the last year so I’m having a hard time thinking…but off the top of my head…right now I’d say Los Whittaker. Amazing!
Anne Jackson.
The Whittaker’s!
Who else? Pete Wilson! and we will meet when i make it up to Nashville someday.
oh and i’d like to meet Loswhit, Flowerdust and Randy Elrod.
well, i’m sure other readers have already said this because they follow you, but i would definitely like to meet Pete Wilson! Your blog is not only inspiring to me on a personal level but the way you blog and tweet is a really good example of how pastors can make great use of technology that is available to us currently…so in a way that is very encouraging and inspiring to me and how i blog and tweet etc….so i hope that my wife and i can make it down to nashville from St. Louis and meet the Wonderful Wilson’s. (i especially want to meet Jett since he got to meet Taylor Swift!!
I’m a hermit who likes the internet cause I actually prefer not meeting people. I’ve already met you and that has been a nice experience so why risk messing it up with meeting other bloggers?
Were there any hermits in the bible? John The Baptist lived in the wilderness but he was pretty social.
@Harold, I’ll send them up to your house tonight! Can they stay the whole weekend.:)
I would love to meet Pete and Brandi. I’ve been a follower of Pete’s blog since the interview with Angie and Todd. I’ve listened to many sermons from Cross Point as well. My husband and I are working on a road trip for this year, or the next and plan on attending a Sunday service. Then there is Angie from Bring The Rain. Jill from Forever n’ Ever n’ Always. Brent and Michelle Riggs from Where Laughter Lives:The Riggs Family. Stephanie and Christian from Nienie. I could go on.
Truth be told, through Pete and Angie’s blog I’ve returned to Christ, my Savior. Together with the others as we pray for each other…I have been truly blessed by them all through the blogging world.
You. I have been going to CP for over a year now and the most I have talked with you was on my baptism day, just before I was dunked. I see you standing in the lobby after services, but just to shy to approach you. You always looked like you are bombarded by so many people, I just pass by and look on in admiration.
I would love to meet Brandi and Heather! There is much wisdom there in blogging and raising children and running a household that I would love to soak up!
I’m new to this and not familiar with any of you, but face-to-face meetings with anybody would be nice. Internet communication is too impersonal for me, most of the time, and takes me away from real life! EEEK!
I would have to say what many others have said, you and Brandi top the list. I would also love some face time with MckMama and my blog friend, Larissa, a marine wife living on Okinawa.
I love this community that God has used you and Brandi to bring together and would have to add Anne Jackson, as well.
“When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be…”
I don’t know if they blog anymore but there was this blogger who was a huge Tennessee fan and they lived in Alabama, Virginia or something like that. If I remember correctly someone close to them was elected to the state’s sports Hall of Fame (for the life of me I cannot remember where this person was from). One thing I do remember was they thought that Peyton Manning was a better QB than Joe Montana and they also thought that tennis players were not athletes. So I would love to meet this person to discuss NFL QBs.
I think I would like to meet Tam or Brad Ruggles. I get them and they seem like really cool cats.
@pete, ssshhhhhh….. I was just saying that to be nice. Maybe I could just bump into them at subway or something.
Well, if I could be in Nashville right now it would be ideal because Tam and Brent are already there at your house… throw in Angie, Jess & Matthew and I’d be set.
[Elias and your boys would also be required attendees.]
Of course, we’d have to fly in Mandy so she and Tam could do a little singing for us…
I wish there could be a big bloggy convention where we could meet everyone. I love you and Brandi, Brandi and Todd, Ree Drummond and her Marlboro Man, Melanie(BigMama) and Sophie (BooMama). Y’all are great. I want to come to Nahville just to attend your church and heara message in person!!!!
So many to name. There is you – who I think would just be a reality check hoot! Angie Smith. Jennifer McKinney from My Charming Kids. Adrienne from Our Journey of Love. Just so many amazing stories out there!
~Kate
@Heather, Are you kidding me????? You better call me or find me in the lobby. If you’re interested we’ll grab a cup of coffee sometime.
PETE WILSON!!!!
I would just love to meet you and Brandi and if I ever get back to Nashville, I WILL be visiting your church!
Stephen Christian (Anberlin), Matthew Thiessen (Relient K), Carlos Whittaker (Ragamuffin Soul)
Well considering like…all of the bloggers I read are from Nashville – it would be pretty simple to meet them all at once! I will probably make my way up there someday to meet y’all…and Angie Smith…and the Turners…and Anne Jackson…etc, etc!
Well, all of them, actually. It would be fun to host a blog party.
Heidi Reed
We all have a lot in common, Similar list from me in addition to Kelly from Kelly’s Korner.
@Robin: how fantastic would that be???? You, me, Anita and Vicky… you all are welcome here ANYTIME… I just would never let you all go back home
Oh yeah…Dr. Tim Keller (he’s such a rock star!) But hopefully I’ll get to meet him at Exponential this year. Incidentally, your name was missing from the list of all-stars. Wuddup with that?
I definitely have to say Pete Wilson! And I’m super excited to see that Photoqueen said ME! I want to meet her as well. I’d love to meet Bub, and we only live 20 minutes from each other. I like Heidi’s idea of a blog party.
@Harold,
Once again you have proven to be the only intelligent person that reads this blog!!
5th Street
As much as it would be fun to meet all of you, currently Giant Idiot is on my blogsphere radar
seems like you’ve already been hanging out with everyone id like to meet

pete & brandi of course
los & heather
anne jackson
jaysten
I think we should plan a weekend meeting and/or a service at Cross Point for all of your friends from the blogosphere. I would definitely like to meet you, Gitz, Giant Idiot and most of all, Brandi. I got that great scarf tip and the recipe for the best chicken pot pie from Brandi…that girl has really impacted my life
well, to be totally honest, I’d LOVE to meet Pete & Brandi Wilson. Do you know them? yeah,….they’re cool people. Just cool. You should meet them too one day. You’d like them.
Next, I’d really like to meet Cindy Beall. She’s my blogging kindred spirit I do believe.
I would be happy to meet any of you bloggers commenting here! It has been so long since money allowed attendance at a conference, or traveling of any kind to meet anyone new! I long for this new, live connection more than I can say.
Although God has richly blessed us with 2,500 people in a depressed town, I have had no opportunity to connect to outside leadership for years. But, God is sovereign so I just keep blogging…who knows! Someday!
I already met you through blogs! Thanks, again, for the coffee. Allie and I are moving in on meeting the Whittakers soon.
Hmmm…Pete and Brandi are at the top of my list.
While I’ve already met you Pete, I’d love to just chat sometime with you and Brandi, just as friends.
Three people I’ve never met but would love to are:
1) Eugene Cho
2) Tyler Braun
3) Beth Brawley
I got to meet LOTS of my blogging friends this week at re:create!!
wow…there are lots.
if you come to Unleashed ’09….we could meet!
but to name a few: Lori, Amy, Alece, Mellisa, Rhonda, Tereasa, Angela, as well as Nathan & Tricia and their family/church.
I met my # 1 pick, Anne Jackson, she’s greater in person
and I almost me the Whittaker’s, they are #2. Then Tom Davis, Neil Greathouse, Shaun Groves, Donald Miller, Perry Noble, Mark Batterson, Pink Haired Girl and of course you cuz’ your blog really is one of my favorites!
I love your blog and being able to keep in touch with your family. After reading the comments I feel lucky that I have got to spend some time with you and Brandi. When I come to church @ CP I do feel like I shouldn’t talk to you long b/c other people may need to talk with you more; however, I felt that way @ MCC as well (must be a personal hangup) —so I am truely thankful for your blog.
lots of folks, though i think i’d enjoy hanging with the Skorinc twins: Brody H. and Randy H.
Adrienne from http://noahsteven.blogspot.com/ and brandi. i struggle everyday balancing mommyhood and other things. Since i dont have that parent to look up to for advice with my kids as it relates to our walk, I’d love to meet them other than on-line and get to know them.
An infusion of estrogen! Love it!
I would love to meet Angie Smith and Boo mama-she cracks me up!
U.
Anne
Los
Craig G.
I have been blessed to meet quite a few of my blogger friends. I have even revisited them.
I still have a list of blogging friends I would like to meet:
Heidi @ Find me, I want to take her to Oregon with me to meet
Tam, Brent and the other Theresa.
Then there is
Heidi in Asia
You and Angie and Jeremy Camp in Nashville
Alece in Ohio or Africa
My list goes on….
I have a well rounded list of blogging friends.
Theresa’s last blog post..I Survived……..
I’m way late to this conversation but I want to confirm that Pete Wilson, Anne Jackson, and Los and Heather are all amazing folks.
As far as who I would like to meet from the blog world: I would have to say Christian Lander. He started the blog Stuff White People Like and I used that same concept or framework to start the blog I’m currently writing, stuff christians like, so I really need to tell him thank you for coming up with what I think is a cool concept. I’d want to give him credit.
Jon Acuff’s last blog post..#509. A tenuous relationship with St. Patrick’s Day.
