You Searched “WHAT” on Google?

I was looking at my stats last night. There is a section entitled “search engine terms”. These are the terms people typed into google which led them to my site. I don’t normally pay much attention, but since a couple hundred people a day come through these search terms I thought I would take a look. Here were a few from yesterday.

Ones that made me laugh….

record for the longest sermon (probably found this)

how to tell a man crush (You think Andy was searching for this)

celebrity photos in over the knee socks

bow chica wow wow (I bet they died laughing when they watched this)

how short is keith urban

Ones that made me wonder…

I’m sick of Pete Wilson

should Christians get breast implants (must have been looking for this post)

if your body is a temple then should you get plastic surgery

is Pete Wilson really a pastor (no, but I played one on t.v. once)

Ones that made me sad…

I’m ashamed and can’t forgive myself (Hope they ended up here)

I’m cheating on my wife

what to do if my wife is having an emotional affair.

I hate the church (hope they found this)

Sometimes I am disturbed when I look at the search terms that bring people to my blog, too. “Confirmation Names” and “Gidget” don’t bother me, because I blogged about wanting my confirmation name to be Francine so that people would call me Gidget (I got confirmated in 3d grade, so I was understandably silly about the process).

“Stewardesses” is a little creepy to me. Why are so many people wanting to search for that one? All I did was mention that in college, the drill team I was on was the Flyerettes, and our uniforms were a bit like stewardess outfits.

And there’s are some much creepier things that bring people to my blog. I am not sure why, but I must have used two words in one post that when brought closer together form a disturbing search term. *shiver*

Actually, it was reading Angie Smith’s blog that somehow brought me here originally. Now I just come back ’cause I like all the peeps that hang here, lol.

    Wow!

My funniest search term recently was “cute round little butts”…and i bet they were so sadly disappointed when they landed on my site. :)

@Jan Connair, I’m with you. The most disturbing one that was showing up daily, four or five times, was “naked little boys”. I had to go back and delete a few posts because of that one. I couldn’t stand the thought!

@Pete: my favorite search term for my site was… “pics of monkeys masturbating”

People like (and search for) some strange things… :)

I used to blog about s*x addiction, and was really disturbed at the google search results. But because of the topic, I was glad that these people were finding me instead of something else! Now that I just write a family blog, I am really careful of my LSI. It’s a crazy world.

I think I just followed a link someone had on their blog and I’m glad I did. I like what you have to say and it’s lead me to believe I have to get back to church (haven’t decided which one yet!) and get back to God – for myself.

It is amazing to see how people find your blog. Like you some are strange, some funny, and some very sad. (A few encouraging though.)

Ha! These are great, especially, “I’m sick of Pete Wilson” and “Is Pete Wilson really a Pastor” :)

One of the craziest searches that led to my blog was…
“Sharing my sexy wife for money” – My thought for that person was “Does she know what you’re thinking? :)

People find my blog when they search for pagani zonda, maltesers, koalas, scottish education system and pregnancy.

@NancyJak, That is so encouraging to me! Hope you find a great church in your area. Let me know if i can help in any way. I would be glad to help.

@mpt: I’m not sure if I’m more disturbed by the search term or the fact that they found your site with it. :)

I enjoyed your post, It’s really funny how you can type in almost anything and get something totally unexpected. I won’t repeat some of the things people have typed in and eventually reached my blog, My only hope is that they were thinking differently when they left. My best was “my mom, my hero”, I hope it was from one of my own.

@Gitz, you took the words right out of my mouth!

my google searches are boring compared to these other ones. Normally people only search for The Office Season 4 clips.. and they get my blog.

  17. mysoul November 30, 2008 at 12:36 am #

Havent had the weird ones yet, except for “carving a monkey” which brought some really weird pictures to my mind.

  18. tam November 30, 2008 at 1:02 am #

    so how short is keith?

I think it is rad no matter what people are doing to get here. This blog is an amazing medium to connect people to each other and to the Cross. It may be sad and I know what you are saying…about what people are going through (some of the searches)…but seriously, this blog rocks and I think it is a great tool of guidance and love.
