Ever Had One of Those Days?

This week we’re wrapping up our Dream Job series at Cross Point Nashville. If you’re in town make sure you join us for the conclusion of this series.

It’s been great to read the emails and listen to the stories of people who are discovering their purpose and redefining their identity.

Our ultimate goal in this series has been to keep you from having one of these days…

  4. I’m not a soft person, but I actually found that video pretty disturbing.
I don’t know if it’s real or not, and Pete, I understand your point in posting it (and it’s a good one), but he’s basically assaulting people.

  5. Hope he doesn’t leave that company’s name for a reference for his next job!

    In his next interview:

(interviewer) “Why did you leave your last job?”

(crazy guy) “They wouldn’t let me have Sundays off so I could go to church.”

(interviewer) “How did you react to that?”

(crazy guy) “I think I handled it pretty well. I’m a very good Christian and I just tried to drive home the point of how very important it is to me to be in the house of the Lord each Sunday.”

  6. Love the guy recording it on his phone. I suppose he sold that to the news agency. Wow. That’s why I can’t watch “The Office”. Too much post traumatic stress from my office cubicle days. I’d love to know if anyone called 911 during those 3 mins.

  8. I agree with Jared – this was very disturbing to watch and didn’t like this post its value showing this exemplifies are desensitized world to violence and mental illness.

  10. I love ot watch people and especially crowd dynamics. It’s kind of a hobby. Instead of watching the guy watch everyone else. It is realy interesting to see how people respond to this guy especially after he hurt two of his coworkers. I am not sure he even realized it happened. There were a number of men in this group who could have, as a group, easily put a stop to this but it was only one guy who took control. They were all waiting on a leader to take step up.

That was fascinating and to answer the question when I was much younger I had a real temper so even though I have not gone to that extreme I have made a fool of myself I am sure. God has been real faithful to remove that issue from my life.

  13. You can see one of the cell phone videos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NEwY_PlK_Y. Isn’t it strange that we live in a society where men would rather capture this on their cell phones than attempt to stop the guy from hurting someone.

I’ve worked at a couple of places where employees got close to committing violent acts in the office, but none of them crossed the line. You have to wonder what underlying issues/relationships provoked someone to be so frustrated at their job that they would lash out like this.

  14. Can we say anger management???

I worked in a call center where we may have had outbursts of anger, dealing with customers that wanted nothing more than to give us a piece of their mind, but nothing like that. Although, some days, it wouldn’t have surprised me. Some people are so unpredictable!

  15. is this like a quentin tarrantino type deal? I can imagine it like slow-mo like gladiator or perhaps gritty like fight club… thanks, pete, this may be my “best video of the week” award. can’t believe that’ i haven’t seen this yet!

And, Evan, a guy viciously attacking people, including women is your video of the week?
Why not some school shooting or something?

    What planet am I on?

  17. This what happens when you put stock brokers together in cubicles in a really down market.

As a man, I’m ashamed so many just stood there and watched…especially after he hit that woman (or so it appears). Not cool.

  18. I remember when this video first came out on youtube … I think the conclusion was that it was fake. If you watch when he pulls the computer monitor from the wall, there is no cord attaching it to anything. Also, the fact that no one steps up – if I remember correctly they debated it on our local country radio station, and decided it was fake. For what it’s worth.

And to answer the question, my worst day at work wouldn’t be an angering one – it would be a sad one. Being a nurse, I think my worst day would have to be not being able to save someone’s life, despite our best efforts.

  21. No guys, most men won’t step up anymore. I know a handful in my circles that would but I don’t hang out with the kind of people who wouldn’t either. Heck I’d have body slammed that moron.

I had an incident at a job where they stressed me so bad I had an acute asthma attack and almost passed out and they decided I was making a show. Granted the paramedics didn’t think so. *sigh*

  24. I can say, that as bad as some of my days have gotten, combined witht he fact that I can have a short temper, I have never had a day that I felt warranted this. I tend to think this is staged because it is so over the top, but if it isn’t then it is truly a sad commentary on where we are as a hole as a people. We woould rather vieo the act to put on youtube then step up and put an end to the madness. Good job Pete. Hopefully those that saw it can take away a salient point and that is, no day, no matter how bad, should ever cause us to respond like this.

  25. I’ve been listening to Charlie Brown Christmas since October 1st so you kind of can guess my answer. And, we decorated our entire office last Friday. But, I’m also the one who’s ready by the 26th to take it all down and get back to normal.
