AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LOL
I saw that on MMI yesterday – it’s pure art!
Will your choir be performing on the 16th? We’re visiting then!
Pete, you’re messed up!
where do I sign up? I know most of those songs already.
That was awsome.. Hopefully I can be that “hip” when Im that age.
OH MY GOODNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen it all now…..
I think YOU need to be in this mix…
Oh my stinkin’ word!!
@OCD-ism, I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag but you will hear me sing on Sunday for the first time EVER!
@britt, while you could belt out everyone of these songs better than anyone I know, I’m afraid your a bit too young for it.
Seems like they were really getting into “dontcha wish your girlfriend was hot like me” (probably because they could understand the words) and the disrobing was slightly alarming LOL just kidding! Kudos to the choir director!
Oh my stars!
Gosh, Pete, I’m about to hurl my Metamucil here. Do you MIND?!
That was sick, and I mean sick in the good way, you know like all the kids says today, not sick like throwing up although….
I wonder what was in the elements that got them all to agree to do that? Thanks for the laugh.
Yeah. I got nothin’.
This is a hoot!! What a great sense of humor these old, I mean, senior folks have… My favorite part was the dancing, and of course, the “disrobing” at the end!! Thanks for the laugh this morning!
I have an uncle who sang “It’s getting hot in here” in his Sunday School room (because it was hot) without thinking about what the next line was. My aunt was so mad at him. He isn’t quite old enough for a senior choir, but I might pass this on so he can get his voice in shape while he waits.
Pete,
thanks! Can’t wait to hear YOU sing. Here are my suggestions on how you can best use these fabulous songs.
1. Lose Yourself (Emenem) The song speaks about not being lazy so maybe that part in the bible (Proverbs?) about making excuses for doing stuff cause a lion might eat you.
2. Ridin Dirty (Chamillionaire) the song talks about not wanting a cop to find out that you’re hidin a gun in your car. Mat 10:26-27 (NIV) “There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
3. Hey Ya (Outkast) has an anthemic, joyful chorus. Psalm 98 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth.
4. Don’t Cha (Pussy cat dolls) This song celebrates the world’s view of women. Maybe you could use this song by juxtapositioning it with Proverb’s description of a Godly woman.
5. Can’t Touch This (MC Hammer) You could do a sermon about Jesus’s followers worrying about eating certain foods or with people who didn’t follow their customs.. and explain what Jesus said about it’s not what you eat..cause it’s passing through you.
6. Hot In Here (Nelly) Clearly a sermon on Hell. ha!
Yeah! I love choirs! I’m the piano accompanist at our local high school — have been for 25 years or so. Choirs Rock! [Or Jazz in some cases]
I am speechless!
That was HOT! I think I am taking off my clothes.
O-MY-WORD! The end was the best! I’m totally inspired…
Pete… Jes just played this for me… hilarious.
Wait i have got to get my G-rents down here for this… they will be so good! I cant wait to hear about the e-mails that will come after ha ha
@Anita… I REALLY need to meet your family someday
I’m not going to lie… I almost ran for the hills when they started taking their robes off.
Oh that is the funniest thing ever! The solo on “Hey Ya” just about did me in I was laughing so hard…
@Harold, It took me back to our FBC days when you used to lead the choir. Can you imagine Peggy’s face if you had launched into one of these songs?
I don’t know which was more disturbing … the girlfriend song or when they were ‘disrobing’.
Thanks Pete
Love it.
LOL!
That. was. awesome.
I loved it…way to include the seniors…brilliant!!!
Twisted but oh so funny!! Thanks.
I wanna be on that sunday!!
Everyone needs to find the movie Young@Heart. It is a story about a seniors choir outside of Boston. Several years ago, the choir director started to incorporate pop and rocks songs into their performances.
The movie opens with a 99 year old former burlesque dancer singing “Should I stay or Should I go?” And an incredibly moving performance of Coldplay’s “Fix you.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the room at the Nashville Film Festival.
Best movie of the year. It’s at blockbuster… maybe on Netflix. Defiantly available for purchase on amazon. Their CDs are on iTunes. It’s an awesome story.. make you feel good and it’ll make you cry.
Wow! That was great…I’ve never wanted to join the choir more in my life!
One word………. priceless
Oh MY word! Me and my husband were cracking up!
Thank Goodnes they changed the lyrics from Clothes to Robes… whew!
“shake, shake it, shake, shake it, shake it like a polaroid piiiiicture HEEEEEEY YAAAAAAH”
some of them were really getting into it, too!
and i’m with Jared…i wanna be on that Sunday too!!!
OH MY GOODNESS! I THINK I’M GONNA CRY!
That was HILARIOUS!!! I love it!
Good find, Pete. =)
Which one was Pastor Tom?
Britt, I love how you incorperated scripture into completely secular music! Way to go!
This was hilarious! My favorite bit was when they were all “rapping” to Lose Yourself, except you can’t understand a WORD anyone is saying. I will be laughing about this next time I get up to sing in the choir….
We will one day all be OLD – I pray I have that kind of humor and fun with life! Made me giggle.
Oh My Sweet Lord – that is the funniest thing I have seen in a loooooong time. My husband and I just sat here and laughed so hard! Thank you for that.
And by the way – you are not right….
I think you should schedule a concert and buy a bigger collection plate I’m making the trip if you do!
