Your Chance for Free Tickets!

Hey Middle Tennessee peeps, do I have a great opportunity for you!! I’ve got 4 tickets to next week’s Starfield concert.  The concert is at Trevecca Nazarene University on Wednesday, Oct 29, at 7 pm.  It’s part of their “I Will Go” Tour that’s running  across most of the US between now and Nov 15. You can follow Starfield via their blog by clicking right HERE.

So if you’re within driving distance of Nashville and want to attend the concert the tickets can be yours!  Just leave a comment with your name and answer this question….

What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?

I’m going to let random.org choose the winner so you can’t accuse me of playing favorites. :) We’ll select the winner of the 4 tickets on Thursday, so you can have plenty of time to make plans for the concert!

ELO. That is Electric Light Orchestra for those under 40. Saw them in Lexington KY. They were the first group to use lasers in their show. It was an unrefined technology at the time and I think someone had their eye damaged in Cincinatti the night before. We sat on the fourth row right in front of a huge stack of speakers. I could hear nothing but ringing in my left ear for over 24 hours. GREAT CONCERT!

AC/DC May 1979. This show was at the Tennessee Theater, a great little venue on Church Street in downtown Nashville. It was an old movie theater that was converted into a concert hall. May have held 300 folks at the most. Anyway, their original lead singer, Bon Scott, was still alive & kickin’ and Angus Young was very much in his prime. At one point Bon Scott came out into the audience with Angus sitting on his shoulders. They walked around the entire arena with Angus playing the guitar like a mad man. This was prior to arrival of wireless technology so they had a VERY long cord. They passed within a few feet of where I was standing. It was High Voltage Rock and Roll without a doubt . My hearing has never the same. I paid $6.00 for the tickets. In contrast tickets for their upcoming show at the Sommet are $90.00.

Best concert to date….hands down….Chris Tomlin. It wasn’t even a concert. It was a Worship Experience. Louie Giglio spoke and by the time I left I was even in more awe of our awesome Creator! If you’ve never seen Chris Tomlin live…GO! If you’ve never heard of Louie Giglio….YOU TUBE! ;)

I’ve only been to two concerts in my life which was 15 years ago and before I was a Christian. First one Vince Gill, second one Shania Twain and I would have to say Shania’s was the best.

Bruce Springsteen…… first date with my now Husband of 15 years…. I’m dating myself :)

  8. Erin Smith October 21, 2008 at 5:38 pm #

I would have to say New Kids on the Block. I was in second grade and the coolest chick in town! :)

I love this question. I keep a mental list of my favorite concerts and after every one I go to I have to rank it.

I think my top spot still belongs Robert Randolph and the Family Band at the Blue Note in Columbia, MO in 2000. Seeing them in a small theatre, the atmosphere was like a party and a religious revival all mixed together. The closest you will ever come to getting this white boy to jump out of his seat and dance!

Frank Sinatra, Grand Ole Opry House, 1976. Yes, I know, I’m old.

It is so tough to pick just one but I loved the Skillet show I saw this year. Switchfoot was a close second.

@Erin, I’m going to have to officially disqualify you from the competition for even suggesting that NKOB is the best concert you’ve been to. :)

  13. Aaron Kavli October 21, 2008 at 7:13 pm #

I’ll have to offer up my son’s pre-school concert, where he immediately ran to us in the audience instead of going on stage. I’ve never been to a “real” concert, though I did try to get to a Wierd Al Yankovik concert once. Am I disqualified? :)

  14. James Taylor October 21, 2008 at 7:40 pm #

Hmm, i’ve been to so many…It would have to be either Aaron Lewis @ city hall or The Rolling Stones @ Vanderbilt a few years back..ROCK ON!!!!

I’m not in the area but im in the Baton Rouge, LA area and best concert hands down was Metallica concert I went to in Pensacola Florida. Ya this was in my BC (Before Christ) time!

Disqualify???? I will have you know that New Kids on the Block was super cool back in the day ;) I am going to submit another answer…My husband and I went to see Aaron Lewis of Staind at the Ryman. The awesome acoustics made us forget about hard wooden seats and annoying drunk people behind us :)

Tony Bennett in Las Vegas he sang Smile… it moved me to tears and it still ties with Willie Nelson singing Crazy.

I have two favorites and they’re on opposite ends of the spectrum — Sting, right after he and The Police broke up, and Diana Ross — both way back in the late 80s.

  26. Jan Connair October 22, 2008 at 7:39 am #

@James Taylor, seems funny to me that you’d pick Aaron Lewis or the Stones over your own music . . . (now where are those winking smileys when a girl needs one?!!!)

  27. Kendra October 22, 2008 at 7:41 am #

best overall: Kenny Chesney, Pirates & Poets tour
    best christian show: Bebo Norman

    …i love music :)

  28. Gina October 22, 2008 at 8:16 am #

Sha Na Na, it was my very first concert and my first date. Bad part was I had to take my little sister and her friend. Sure would be great to get to take her to another concert 34 years later. This time she might understand the excitement.

  29. Robin October 22, 2008 at 8:19 am #

    The Eagles…Amazing.
    Also loved Tree 63 ~

  30. Gina October 22, 2008 at 8:19 am #

My ultimate favorite concert was Cher and Elton JOhn in Las Vegas. I worked at Caesars and was given free tickets, the best part was I was able to take my parents who just thought it was the coolest thing. They got to ride in a limo and get preferred seating. They have since passed on to a better concert. The song of angels.

My kids ,my family room , about a month ago!!! Awsome dance and lip sync show with lights, props and costumes. I wouldn’t trade it for any show in the world…..OK maybe the Eagles or Zepplin…nope I sticking with my stooges.

  33. Jody October 22, 2008 at 10:01 am #

Pearl Jam 1993 at Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University

  34. Kathy October 22, 2008 at 11:09 am #

Just posting to say I am seriously jealous of Shannon to have seen a Bon Scott-led AC/DC. Had front row Motley Crue tickets 3 times, first time in 1985. That would have to be my favorite from the past.

I’ve never been to a Christian concert. I wanted to see Michael W Smith this past week in Birmingham but didn’t know they were here til that day.

  35. jalack October 22, 2008 at 12:08 pm #

Bush, 1995, Pensacola FL….loved that show.

  36. Megan October 22, 2008 at 12:13 pm #

    Martina McBride. She is great!

  37. Heather October 22, 2008 at 3:11 pm #

I use to work at the Ryman. I got to work the REM show and stood about 10 feet from the stage all night. It was amazing, and free…well, I guess you could say I even got paid for it : )

  38. Brenda October 22, 2008 at 4:39 pm #

One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended was a few years ago when I saw Nickel Creek play in Borders bookstore-downtown San Diego.
