God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.
~Martin Luther
Thank you God for a couple of days to just breathe in your incredible creation. I feel refreshed, renewed and re-calibrated.
I love it in the mountains. If you remember last time we were up here was in April when we climbed Mt. LeConte with our friends Nate and Holly Vanzeeland.
We had another incredible day in the mountains yesterday. Even spotted a black bear cub about 15 feet away while we were hiking. I included it in the pics below although it’s hard to see. Give me a break, I was a little nervous as I was keeping my eyes open for its mother!

gorgeous pictures.
welcome home.
happy sunday.
thanks for sharing these pictures Pete
we also found Cades Cove to be a special place when we visited The Smokies in August
we had a bear sighting as well. 3 cubs and a mother bear.
AWESOME! God is definitely in the great outdoors. Last time I hiked in the Smokies with my son, I blew out a knee. A “through hiker” said to just get a stick for a cain and keep going.
Oh my goodness, thanks so much for the comment on my blog. I can’t quite believe that I had a pastor commebt on my blog, I feel extremely honored!
Thankyou so much for bringing a small ray of sunshine into my dreary life- I’ll be adding your blog to my blogroll
Those pics are like postcards. I am so happy for the pair of you.
you and Brandi are quite the photographers. And God, quite the creator. Beautiful~
Great, beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing them.
I am trying NOT to be jealous. Happy getaway!!

How awesome that you two were able to get away and go camping. Wonderful pics, Pete. It makes me miss PA and the changing of the leaves. You captured such brilliant colors. Thanks for sharing.
Love the Pictures. Mountains and streams and trees and other beings have power which becomes apparent if you take the time to know them. Glad you had the time off. One of the pictures does not load, the third in the first column.
You and/or Brandi really have an eye for angles. What kind of camera do you use? (I also saw the God in it all… but I’m a little obsessed with photography
).
I’m so happy for both of you that you had the chance to unwind and reset your pace a little. I hope these photos help you remember the feeling at the end of a busy day…
So so so so important to take a step back and simply breathe and take it all in. Glad you and Brandi had some time to do just that. Have a wonderful week. Blessings over you both and all that you do!
@Sara, our camera is a little Sony digital camera. Nothing fancy at all.
I made a decision on the trip that I was going to try to take more interesting pictures.
i love that quote……the truth of that is why i have to be outside. i feel closer to God when I pay attention to his creation.
@Pete… well, as in everything it seems when you set your mind to something you make it happen.
Those are great shots to have flipping as a screen saver to remind you of met challenges and relaxing moments…
Thanks for sharing these pictures Pete. These are good pictures. I’m glad you got to rest and now feel refreshed.
Glad you and Brandi got some time away…sounds like it was perfect timing!
I love the Smokies … feels like you are walking with God in Eden. Glad you had the opportunity to be still and listen to Him and enjoy some time with your wife. Many pastors don’t take a needed break from their duties! Way to go man!
Thank you for visiting my blog the other day and thank you for the prayer
I visit your blog quite often and I love everything you wrote. So comforting and peaceful.
Thank you for sharing those wonderful words with the rest of the world.
@mmaguirk, no doubt. It’s a special place.
you really take nice pictures pete!!
Did you go to the fly fishing shop in Townsend? I love that place.
Again, we would have loved to share the experience with you – such a beautiful place – so glad you two got to get away! Miss you both tons!
I’ve been there. It’s such an amazing place. Yes, we all need to take some time out of our busy lives every now and then to just breathe in. I’m so glad you guys did, and looks like you have an incredible time!
those pictures make me almost want to go camping… ALMOST.
Stefan’s sister is actually a member of this church ( c3 ) and we have visited in person. We have a coffee mug to prove it, Small world …….no comment on virtual world too dangerous
Love this quote. And yes, God speaks through creation. His creation takes me into a deep place–a place of gratitude and wonder. Glad you and yours were able to soak in it and come out refreshed.
Beautiful pictures!
Those are beautiful pictures Pete!! Really reminds you that He made it all huh??
