A Childhood Journey Through Fundamentalism

If you haven’t already heard the book “churched” hits bookstores today! It’s a hilarious book that takes a very honest look at how the church can impact our views on God and life.

Matthew Paul Turner is a good friend and it’s been an honor to watch his journey. He dropped by the office this afternoon and I shot this quick video. Enjoy…

Nice interview Pete. It’s cool to get a glimpse into Cross Point via Matthew’s personal story. Can’t wait to read the book and maybe even look at that whole Barbie-burning object lesson idea. Hot!

@Jessica, Thanks. I’ve tried to change the thumbnail picture of the video but it won’t let me. I guess it’s going to be stuck on this image of MPT praying for me. :)

I AM SO SO SO SO SO GOING TO GET THIS BOOK!!!! Thank you for high lighting it in video. Helped make the connect. On a side but related note, Cloud & Townsend & Steve Arterburn (sp?) have done some incredible writing related to Toxic Faith. Their approach offers healing in more of a theraputic approach whereas it sounds like Turner is via humor. Both effective. Looking forward to laughing and growing all at the same time via his read.

    Blessings,
    Roxx

Wow. Sounds like he wrote my story as well. This past year has been learning to trust God to do what He needs through my leadership, and trusting leadership again. Been hard sometimes but I can sit here right now and say for once, I truly trust my life with my leadership. I trust God to do what He needs through them and to me. Freedom I tell ya. I’ll grab this when I find it! :)

Definitely going to pick up this book. I became a Matthew Paul Turner fan with The Coffee House Gospel. Loved it!

Pete, how cool that must be to have someone in your church write a book like that. All I can say is, “Wow!” What a high you must be on! Sadly, I think most pastors would be fearful that a parishioner would include them in a book about their church experience. Congratulations! – Mark
