This Was A Huge Weekend!

Wow, where do I start? First of all let me say this….. if you attend Cross Point Dickson STOP reading this right now! If you rebel and read on, at least do me a favor and keep this information just between the two of us. I’m going to be at your campus this Sunday to do a little vision casting and I don’t want you to let the cat out of the bag.
Here’s a quick wrap up of some of the exciting plans we announced at Cross Point Nashville this weekend.
1) We’re going to add an additional Sunday service.
Between our two campuses Cross Point has grown 94% in the past year. How? Because you keep inviting your friends. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. So, at Cross Point Nashville starting September 7th our new service times will be… 8:30, 10:30, 11:45 and 6:00 p.m. KidStuff will be at 9:40.
2) We’re going to plant our 3rd campus.
Our goal is to plant our 3rd campus in January of 09′. While we don’t know exactly where yet, we are hopeful to give you more details in the near future. We are so excited about the opportunity to reach more people in the Nashville communities with God’s incredible message of hope. Cross Point will be one church meeting in 3 locations!
3) We’re partnering with Habitat for Humanity.
This fall we will help build 3 homes with Habitat for Humanity. One of them is an all womens build on a house that is being personally funded by Reba McEntire. We’ll need several hundred volunteers to step up to pull off this huge feat.
4) We’re increasing our giving to missions.
Since day one Cross Point has given 10% of its weekly budget to missions. In the almost 6 years we have existed we’ve been able to give some $750,000 to missions. While this has been incredible, we feel led to step it up. Starting this year we are going to add 1% per year to our missions giving for the next ten years. A decade from now 20% of our entire budget will be designated to impact our world for Christ. Our conservative estimation is that we will give over $6 million to missions over the next 10 years.
On top of that…My personal goal is to find 100 churches to partner with us in adding 1% to their mission budget over the next ten years. I’m praying that we can collectively see $100 million designated to world missions over the next decade.
I’m so pumped about what God is doing here at Cross Point. I can’t wait to see what God continues to do through this community!!
I love being your pastor,
Pete

Do you know what I love about this? I love that you dream BIG, but it all is very do-able. And service-oriented. I’m so incredibly proud of all of you and am honored to be a part of this community, even if it is in such a small way and from a distance. You all are doing great things and will remain in my prayers.
Thanks for filling my heart with your great news today!

I recommend Birmingham, Alabama as your next church plant…
Then again, I may be a little selfish…since that’s where I live! We are in the metro Nashville area!

I am always amazed by the vision of leaders at Cross Point and how selfless they are. I will be honest and say that I was against the Dickson campus. I did not know how the Nashville campus would make it without the key volunteers that were leaving, let alone how it could be funded. I look back now and realize how selfish my feelings were and thank God that I am not in charge of those decisions. It has been amazing hearing about all of the lives changed in Dickson. I just want to thank the leaders of Cross Point for never just remaining in the moment and always challenging us to do more. We are so blessed to have people leading who are truly focused on spreading the word and love of God.

Wow! This is amazing!! Sounds like God is richly blessing the ministry. I’m SO excited for what’s going on at Crosspoint even though I’ve never been. Isn’t that wierd? No really, one day we will visit. We’ve already decided that. And when we do, I have a feeling it will feel alot like home. It’s just so amazing how God can bring His people together no matter where in the world they are and allow us to cheer each other on, and cheer on His Kingdom work. GO CROSSPOINT!!!!!!

WOW! for yesterday morning! WOW! for last night’s volunteer gala! WOW! for a church that is not sitting still in “comfort” but is stretching ourselves to reach the lost for Christ! We don’t just HAVE a mission statement–we LIVE it! And I am honored and proud to be a part of it! Pete, we are proud of you…from days long ago when we knew there was a mature man of God in there….to now being led by you, as our pastor. What a honor and privelege!

As I’m reading that “1%” per year, I was thinking to myself, “Wow, a WHOLE one percent Pete. Don’t out due yourselves” However, that adds up quickly and not to mention you can’t really give 100% to missions. That is truly an awesome thing that you guys are doing at Cross Point.
Pete, You rock!

There is no more exciting place to be on the face of the earth than at the core of a vibrant, growing, giving, gracious church. Kudos to you and the whole Cross Point team on the expansion of services, locations and missions giving. Yea God!

@Kyle, that’s exactly what I thought at first but it really does add up. Just adding that 1% each year will mean an additional 3 million over the next 10 years at our Nashville campus alone!

I just wanted everyone to know about a way for people to give back to back to Reba for all of her help with Habitat For Humanity. Fans are giving back to Reba through supporting Reba’s Ranch House and keeping the memory of her late band members alive. Check it out at http://www.secretofgiving.com The site was created by a longtime Reba fan named Rhonda Goss. Please check it out at http://www.secretofgiving.com Tracey

Pete, what would it mean for a church to “partner” with you in this effort?
To enact similar budgeting in a spirit of camaraderie and the missional good? Or something more “connected” to Cross Point?
And would you have to be a “big” church to partner?
Element is not a big community but we recently began a missional budgeting commitment that has us giving 60% of our total budget away to local and foreign missions and to church planting.
Interested in the “partnering” aspect of the plan.
And thankful for churches like Cross Point that are committed to putting their money where their mouth is. (You probably already know that 10% is already on the high end, given what the average church budgets for missions.)

Congratulations about your growth, Pete. I hope as you expand that you do not lose that down to earth style of yours. I think that is the strength of your ministry besides other things. Much success.
If you ever are preaching out here in the bay area, let me know, I would like to drop by and listen.

This is pretty awesome, I wanted to tell you I go to Northland, a Church Distributed in Longwood, Florida….
http://www.northlandchurch.net We have a Sat. 3 Sun. services and a Monday. we are also online for church service all over the world, hence, a church distributed. I don’t know if we would be a church you would want to partner with only you and God would know. I attend that isn’t at all my area of expertise…
