Can I be unAmerican and say, “When they are over?” I have not watched any of it-largely because I can’t stay up late and also because they haven’t captured my interest. (I did read about some of it though). I am glad we did so well but….

I love watching the Olympics even though I’m not generally a sports fan (except bowling on TV – which aids me in napping!).
I’m a USA patriot but I also learn so much about other countries’ athletes during the Olympics. It’s great. Especially the summer O’s. SO PROUD OF THE USA!

Oh so many! The olympics are so inspiring on so man levels. I, of course, loved watching Phelps dominate the pool. Torres was also fun to watch…age ain’t nothin’ but a number! The story of the USA track athlete Lomong who was a former ‘lost boy of sudan’ is pretty amazing. I could go on…but I’ll leave it at those few! Excited already for London 2012…

My new favorite moment was the kenyan

bbc feed …. Sammy Wanjiru wins Kenya’s first ever gold in the men’s marathon, breaking the Olympic record despite the soaring heat in Beijing.

And to hear the kenya national anthem made me really proud in the closing ceremony…

I have to complain……

the way that you guys “do” the medal table is wrong…

it has to go on the number of golds, then silvers and then bronze medals won.

I agree with the all the phelps rage, especially 1) Costas asking the 4/100 m relay team, “So, who’s talkin’ now?” 2) Seeing that Chinese guy on the rings (not sure of his name) do a press from a standing still Maltese Cross to an inverted Iron Cross, and the announcer saying (I paraphrase) “If someone had even suggested they were going to try that 3 years ago they would have laughed him out of the gym.” 3) Costas telling Shawn Johnson after she won the gold on beam that he thought she might have grown that week since “it looks like your feet are actually touching the floor.” 4) The last one I can sum up in one word: TIVO!!!! The 2 biggest bummers? 1) Watching NBC slowly succumb to ‘medal envy’ over the course of the 2 week period when they were trying so hard not to at the beginning. 2) seeing all these amazing non USA gymnasts performing their routines in the background as NBC chose to show us our athletes sitting around waiting to go on, and 3) the announcers watching non-US gymnasts wipe out and cheerfully saying ‘That’ll do it! Another medal for the US!’

My favorite moment is yet to come! I can hardly wait for tonight, and the closing ceremony…and then my wife won’t be able to force me to watch any more…

The Olympic hula hoop contest today was the final straw…who knew hula hoops were a sport…
