Kentucky, First Dates, and Missions.
Today I want to introduce you to some great friends of mine. If you’ve ever been on a CP mission trip to the D.R. then you’ve met them but if not….meet the Rogers. While in college Jeff was in a discipleship group I led. Brandi (my wife) was in a group with Vicki and so we set them up on a double date. The rest is just history.
They started dating.
They got married.
They felt the call to go into missions (I thought they were crazy)
They had twin daughters.
Jeff and Vicki are two of the most amazing people I know. Their faith stretches me every time I’m around. them. I still remember the first time they told me they wanted to move to the D.R. as missionaries. I thought, “You know they don’t speak English there don’t you? And they certainly don’t speak kentuckian!”
Following God’s bidding in their life, they have ruthlessly chased after God’s dream to change the spiritual climate of this island. Through bringing groups over, training pastors, and just loving the people they are doing just that! Changing an island for the Glory of God!
Check out their blog by clicking HERE (http://heartsinhispaniola.blogspot.com/) and if your interested it getting your youth group or church involved in missions you should DEFINITELY contact them! You can also support them directly from their blog if you’re interested!
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever felt God calling you to do?

kentuckian? Why I never… As a life long resident of the greatest and most beautiful state in the nation. Birth place of Abe Lincoln, manufacturer of the Corvette, and home of the greatest basketball team The University of Kentucky Wildcats…I am… Oh who am I kidding… Kentucky does have it’s own communication style…
But everything I said about the state is true
I will check out their blog… I have been traveling, but have enjoyed your updates on your trip to D.R. How about chicken for dinner tonight Pete?

“What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever felt God calling you to do?”
For me, it was coming on staff at Cross Point. I had big career goals in the music industry… dreams that were formed since I was just a kid. However God totally gave me a heart for this place and over the course of time showed me how I could apply my gifts here. I think all along the dream for the music industry was God’s way of getting me in Nashville to ultimately be at Cross Point.

It’s funny that the craziest thing God called me to do didn’t feel crazy to me, although others certainly told me I was “stupid”! I quit my job as an attorney over a year ago to do mission work for a year (here in Nashville at Preston Taylor Ministries). God gave me a complete peace about it all, and everything fell into place. It’s shown me how faithful God is and how much better life is when I listen to Him.
I love your friends’ story. What a cool family!

The Boss and I were just discussing this! By far and away so far the craziest thing He’s called us to do is this adoption journey. We had NO money for it, we have four beautiful biological children, and fully full and happy lives. Then the craziness got crazier and He asked us to consider Special Needs Adoption. And here we are. Still without all the money or the sanity the world thinks we need. But He’s called us, He’s provided for us so far, and we’re leaning on Him to continue providing ALL that we need to keep doing this. We figure that money is the least of His worries, He owns it all anyway. And He’s giving us a daughter to nurture and raise, I think He can come up with the child support
(Tongue firmly in cheek!) Pray for us – the detractors are sometimes loud and familiar, but we KNOW we heard His voice and so we walk . . . .

Craziest thing at God’s leading?…
Switch/convert to a different stream of Christianity.
I’ve enjoyed the past few posts…

Hmmmm… My answer to the question is not there.
The craziest thing. Write a book. I got A’s and B’s in English, but I am not the best speller. I feel woefully inadequate to communicate Gods word… But then I look to Noah, and Moses, talk about crazy missions.

The craziest thing I felt God calling me to do?
To leave a student ministry where we were seeing lives changed and good things happen, to go get a job as a glorified secretary (doing publications and web stuff) to help a church plant in their student ministry…for free. I serve a crazy God

God seems to constantly call me/us to do some things that might be considered crazy. The latest is answering the call to take in a 17 year old boy (our friend’s son) due to some rough times in their family. It has definitely been a huge learning experience. I’m constantly being challenged in how to handle tough situations, give advice, show grace, empathy, etc. God knows our limits even when we don’t!

Vicki and Jeff– the girls have gotten so big and they are SOO pretty little heart breakers! Watch out!
The craziest thing was leaving my job and helping to start up Cross Point. I am not a person to totally leave something and have no money or income coming in but I look back and see God totally took care of me! We serve an amazing GOD because I have grown, learned and done more in the past 6 years. And without that move I my have never met my amazing husband..

I don’t know if it’s the craziest, but one of the craziest things God’s called me to do is turn down a job opportunity in Colorado and move to West Texas instead! Colorado or West Texas? Beautiful mountains with trees or dirt, wind, and dirty wind? What was I thinking?

I’ve been a lurker for a while, but I love reading your blog. Probably the craziest thing that God called me to was to be willing to go to Kenya as a Journeyman. I thought He was nuts! I prayed about it, told my parents (who flipped!) and told my boss that this is what I felt lead to do. I started the application process, but God closed that door. I honestly believe that He was calling me to step out in faith and trust Him. Who knows, maybe one day in the future..?
