I’m a naughty gambler. I do it behind my husbands back. I know, I’m terrible, but hear me out. Every year, he tells me we can send the kids to a Christian school if it’s paid in full by the day school starts. Here it comes, I register our oldest daughter (we only have one in school right now) and tell him it will all work itself out. And so far it has, that’s quite the gamble I’d say. Now this coming year is going to be sad, we have two going into school so he sticking to his guns and refusing to send them if it isn’t actually paid in full. So if anyone wants to pick up my gambling habit, for the sake of the kids of course, I would gladly give you the address of the school and you can send them a few bucks to “gamble” on a good Christian education. Really, the payoff is immeasurable, but I don’t have 6 grand in my pocket right now so I can’t play the game. And yes, I just solicited money from complete strangers on a blog, sue me!!! It’s a gamble, but with my luck you’ll probably win…hehehe

For the record, my best friend tells me I’m a dork all the time, I won’t be offended if you feel the need to join her! Those were some pretty lame jokes I threw in there.

Funny how everyone here seems to forget that gambling destroys countless lives and brings false hope to people. Funny how so many so called Christians here seem to be contributing to a device that destroys lives and contributes to organized crime. Funny how we sit here and say that we “love our fellow man” but yet we are contributing to a “game” that sucks the life and money out of our fellow man. Some say the lottery is “harmless”, but yet it destroys so many lives. IF we as Christians are truly all about “Loving One Another”, then how can we say we support a device or game that can be so destructive? I am saddened that so many “Chirstians” here seem to think gambling is OK and think this is nothing more than a harmless little game – I wonder how the children of a gambling addict feel about that when their parents have no money to pay their bills or feed their kids? Do we really want to stand before God someday and watch as He unfolds before us how our lottery habit ultimately contributed to the destruction of others? Let us be about the Fathers business here and stop this!

The odds of winning are posted right on the tickets (or at least they are in VA). Regardless, I guarantee that they are less than favorable for any purchaser.

Someone once said that the lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math, and I wholeheartedly agree.

The people who put the most money into the system are the people who can least afford it.

I used to dabble in the lottery from time to time, thinking it was a harmless diversion, but then I thought of the people who paid for my “winnings” and I stopped playing.
