Oh I’d quite like to see the looks on people’s faces if we did something like that at CP, and see the onslaught of email you’d probably get! Then again, I may or may not have triple-dog dared a certain brand-new staff member to bring a banner and tambourine to worship, just to see what happens…

No I would like to see the looks on the faces of the people at MY church if we had them come. While not the type of music I prefer personally the message does have a very valid point and would reach people the hymns would never reach.
Good message. I’d love to hear about your congregation’s reaction if you do this.

It definitely would reach a wider variety of people, and so much better than hearing about pimps and hos!!!!! One rap album mothers would run out to buy their kids, and by seeing how they conduct themselves as people who aren’t going to jail, aren’t into drugs, and are trying to make a difference would have a profound effect on people, and could potentially shape a generation, but that may just be wishful thinking. Not my type of music, but it would reach a lot of the people who aren’t in good situations, and could use God in their lives.

This song is from 116 Clique. I like “No More” by them too. I play this song for my students at PTM, and they think it’s Ludicrous:) I generally don’t correct them.
I’d love for Cross Point to mix it up, and “Send Me/Represent” would be a great way to do that.
I’m glad that the words were there otherwise I would have missed out on what a great message they conveyed. I think it’s always good to be able to reach a diverse group of people. I vote thumbs up!

Right after Cross Point, Mars Hill – Seattle has to be my favorite church for their unashamed attitude on reaching the lost, pursuit of real creativity, intellectually rigorous messages that constantly challenge me, and Mark Driscoll is very funny.
Which remind me, I need to get those CDs of Pastor Mark’s stuff that I promised you Pete… for you to listen to in your infinite spare time

Seriously, I think having some honest, christian hip-hop during worship sometimes would be a cool way to reach out and diversify…we can’t change the world if we stay the same and stick with ‘safe’ all the time. I say BRING IT ON, CP!

I loved it and I don’t really like rap. It shows us the diversity in the body of Christ. They will reach people our church could never in a million years. Love it!! The message is clear – the good news is for everyone, everywhere.

When I saw the title “Send Me” I knew it had to be Lecrae. If you have never heard of him I suggest you check him out. I love the message of this song and of another one of his, “Take Me As I Am” from the album Real Talk. His songs speak volumes to me -a white girl who loves Christian Rap! You got two thumbs up from me, Pete.
I. LOVED. IT. DAWG!!!! I’d love to be a back up rapper. I rap you know – I know it’s hard to believe, but I did go to high school in the late eighties, early nineties. My rap name was “Cooley C”! I still have my Vanilla Ice cd, but his lyrics weren’t near as good. And he’s a poser.
Anyway, I digress… That was AWESOME!!! How do you beat the Great Comission with a great beat, groovy base line, and a few dawgs here and there?

Great! Super! Innovating! Glorifying! I think it takes ALL KINDS of worship, just like ALL KINDS of churches, to reach ALL KINDS of people! I’m glad to see, hear and experience something new and creative. I think it also is needed to open the eyes of current Christians to help them realize there isn’t just one “Right” way to worship. Just because I don’t download a lot of hip hop, doesn’t mean God can’t work through these guys and into the hearts of someone experiencing that worship. I think it’s great!

I have to say I would be distracted in my worship if this were presented at my church. But I would praise the Lord afterward for this group who He will undoubtedly use to reach many for His glory!
i think this is amazing – i am all for a more diverse means to worship. it is great to see the Lord working in peoples lives to get the message out – ‘send me, i’ll go’ – wow. those guys love the Lord and have the talent to reach people who don’t always respond to the everyday praise songs you can find in a lot of churches. After reading all your responses I feel like I will be ostrasized for my thoughts. I believe that there are many people that will love this and the message is awesome but I had a difficult time even watching it on the video as it does nothing to make me feel like worshiping or being praiseful. My children would probably love it and I praise God for that but I wouldn’t last more than one song. I vote go for it because I know there will be many reached by it but just let me know ahead of time so I can show up late and hear the sermon.
My hubby would probably flip ( I know our church memebers would), will have to ask my 23 and 24 year olds. I think in some places this would be a great way to reach the young kids of today. I not exactly old school (unless you consider CeCe Winan, Tye Tribbett, Kirk Franklin and Israel New Breed Old school…which I guess some would ) but it took me a while to be ok with christian rock (or country for that matter) so why not ( as I said though my husband would have a cow if I presented this as one of my youth event ideas). He is most def. old school…LOL
Ok, my 23 year old said she liked it and she is not a fan of rap music. She does feel like its a message the young people in our area need to hear. And she said she would rather they listened to that then some of the other stuff out there our kids are listening to.
