Sunday Morning Time Lapse

So Los inspired me to give this a shot. Using the program he suggested, I did a time-lapse video of a Sunday morning in my life @ Cross Point. Hope you enjoy!

ok you seriously seriously scare me with your texting & talking on the phone and driving ahhhhh! :) You need one of the voice-lead texting phones (and a bluetooth or headset or something!)

  4. jarrodmorris June 18, 2008 at 4:37 pm #

Why do I look so fat in the video?

  5. Tommy Sircy June 18, 2008 at 4:38 pm #

Pete, you’re right. You are addicted. lol Have a nice vacation. That’s really cool. Tom was worried about keeping up, now he’s there. Time lapse is the answer. I wonder if i could get my work week done that way?

  6. Tommy Sircy June 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm #

Jarrod, it’s the video. it always adds 10 lbs.

  7. Tony Chavez June 18, 2008 at 4:51 pm #

That’s awesome man! I’m actually working on one from our rehearsals last night.

  8. Connie June 18, 2008 at 4:54 pm #

I just had arrived home from the eye doctors office before I clicked on this video. He had dilated my eyes. I can’t even begin to explain to you how crazy this thing looks with dilated pupils.

  9. Jaime June 18, 2008 at 5:07 pm #

Whew! That was tiring! I like how your picture on the right looks like you’re just chillin’ and watching the video too. :-)

I don’t remember how I found your blog???, but I am a daily stalker. :-)

  10. Andrea Lopez June 18, 2008 at 5:25 pm #

Ever consider a career in broadcast news, Pastor Pete?! If this video is any indication, you’d be brilliant I tell ya.

  11. Jim Drake June 18, 2008 at 5:31 pm #

    Whew Pete–I’m worn out from that…. if that’s a typical Sunday–you deserve 3 naps.
Does CrossPoint meet in a typical church building? I was surprised to see the pews. Just wondering.. Peace!

  12. Kristie June 18, 2008 at 5:42 pm #

    That is SWEET!!
(PS: Do you carry a MINI bottle of hand sanitizer?)

  13. Pete Wilson June 18, 2008 at 6:05 pm #

@Jim Drake We are actually in an old Baptist church that we have a five year lease in for our Nashville campus. Our Dickson campus meets in a high school.

  14. jay hardwick June 18, 2008 at 6:12 pm #

    sweet shirt!

  15. Jonnelle June 18, 2008 at 6:13 pm #

Jim, we share a facility with Park Avenue Baptist Church. The pews were there when we got there. :)

  16. Jenny in Nebraska June 18, 2008 at 6:17 pm #

171 hugs in one morning? Wow! That rocks!

Neat video! I would definitely need a nap after a morning like that!

  17. bradruggles June 18, 2008 at 6:20 pm #

Dude, you’re crazy. You know that is such a blog-geek thing to do, right? :-)

    I love it.

  18. ncarnes June 18, 2008 at 6:24 pm #

    Wow!
    Very cool.
On your run through do you go through your entire message?
I am impressed because there are a lot of pastors with larger churches these days that hang out in a green room and avoid the people in the halls…you are engaging people and doing 2? 3? services…2 plus a run through?
I bet you are exhausted on Sunday night/Monday morning.
Great work on the video by the way :)

  19. amanda June 18, 2008 at 6:42 pm #

i was going to say something about the cell phone usage in your car… but I am going to skip over that to say that is the coolest video I have seen in a long time! :-)

  20. Pete Wilson June 18, 2008 at 6:43 pm #

@ncarnes We have 3 Sunday services @ 9, 11, & 6. I don’ go through the entire message in the run through. I just hit the scripture and main points to make sure I’m on the same page as the media guys.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy greeting people before and after each of the services. It’s actually the highlight of my day!

  21. rlh27 June 18, 2008 at 7:00 pm #

right on man, Im working on one right now.

  22. imgladyouasked June 18, 2008 at 7:11 pm #

That was a very cool video to watch.

  23. pollyh June 18, 2008 at 7:49 pm #

Pete–you wore me out with that one. But it was cool and I can’t wait to experience it first hand. Raally@

So, I have been gone the past week so I thought I would quickly comment on two post at once..both this one and and annes….

Image is everything in todays world, and women constantly have to fight not only their own perception of themselves, but also everyone elses. A women might have shot this video, but she would not have posted a days worth of “is my butt really that big?” or better yet “is HER butt really that big?”

Simply put, most women would hit delete.

    I really hate that.

  25. Los June 18, 2008 at 7:57 pm #

    Who was leading worship?
    Los

  26. brent(inWorship) June 18, 2008 at 9:08 pm #

Love the time lapse! I don’t think some people realize the focus and time that go into Sunday AM sometimes. It is great to see how intense it is.

Also, I live that you video taped yourself prepping. Our creative director, whenever he teaches, goes down to the worship center and goes through his whole sermon as if he was teaching it. It’s the only way he is comfortable in being prepared.

Hope vacation is awesome! thanks for stopping by the video chat tonight!

  27. Jen June 18, 2008 at 9:17 pm #

    Pete,
Hope you and your family are having an awesome vacation. I wish I could come to one of your services.(Live in Cali) You are very inspiring… Not sure the video really shows all the LOVE you’re sharing. Cool effect, though…. Jen

  28. Steven Russell June 18, 2008 at 10:22 pm #

Wow. That was pretty stinkin awesome.

I am still trying to figure out when you rest on Sundays.

    Whew.

  29. Grant June 18, 2008 at 10:56 pm #

that was killer. i want to come to your church. seriously. next time I’m in nashville on a weekend, it’s on like donkey kong!

  30. Jessica Turner June 19, 2008 at 4:12 am #

Cool. Matthew and I hope you are back in town and will be teaching Sunday. My parents are in from Wisconsin – they will LOVE you.

  31. Pete Wilson June 19, 2008 at 4:19 am #

@ Los It’s Jarrod Morris. I’ll send you some of his stuff! He’s doing an amazing job here at CP leading us into worship.

  32. danielle June 19, 2008 at 4:21 am #

This is cool. All this stuff going on and you still have time to move around a camera!

  33. Anne Jackson June 19, 2008 at 4:47 am #

    That is RAD!

  34. Starwoodgal June 19, 2008 at 5:42 am #

Very cool! How much coffee do you have on Sunday mornings? :)

  35. Jill June 19, 2008 at 6:02 am #

That was awesome…do you wear flip flops when you preach ? :) very cool! I loved seeing shots of your church, too. It is a lot like ours here in MI (www.rlc.info) with the cafe and awesome media things! Thanks for the neat insight!

  36. jon mckanna June 19, 2008 at 6:04 am #

i am going to guess that it feels like you were really going that fast, once you get to the end of the day!!!

i am disappointed to see a lack of St. Arbucks drive thru or barista!?!

  37. mpt June 19, 2008 at 6:23 am #

you’re fast. wish i were that fast. i walk pretty slow most of the time. you’re like a roadrunner. seriously. you are. just like a roadrunner. wish i were a roadrunner.

  38. Pete Wilson June 19, 2008 at 6:35 am #

@mpt Let’s do this video trick with the next book you write. When you get done you will feel like you’ve accomplished so much!

  39. Harold McKee June 19, 2008 at 7:04 am #

What no bathroom breaks? I ain’t buying that!

Seriously, cool video. I feel like I lost the 10lbs Jarrod felt like he put on.

  40. Todd Ruth June 19, 2008 at 7:50 am #

    Sweet video.

  41. ncarnes June 19, 2008 at 9:20 am #

I guess us normal PC users cannot create cool videos like this since the software requires a MAC. Oh, well maybe I can do a time delayed auto slide advance PowerPoint show (sounds cool huh?)…I can even do random slide transitions with that :)

  42. Kelli June 19, 2008 at 10:11 am #

Great video. You’re a busy guy!

  43. Phil Chalos June 19, 2008 at 11:11 am #

Super cool video….it was even better in real time and really being there, thanks to you and the cp crew…great job

  44. sarah June 19, 2008 at 11:21 am #

    love it!!!

  45. Lori K June 19, 2008 at 11:54 am #

That was crazy! I’m recovering from a migraine and am still somewhat “medicated” so the quick movements just made me dizzy. Can’t imagine how you feel……great video!

  46. Brandy June 19, 2008 at 12:26 pm #

WOW. I want to go to your church. Seriously. That looked awesome! :D

  47. katelynjane June 19, 2008 at 1:32 pm #

Holy crap that’s a lot of hugs and handshakes!! I really respect pastors, they have so many people to please, it’s gotta be a hard job! I was thinking you must have found it hard to just remember to move the camera around. You seem so busy without that extra thought.

  48. ally simpson June 19, 2008 at 3:10 pm #

totally awesome man, i did one also :)

  49. Jeff Gibson June 19, 2008 at 3:52 pm #

That was great, I hope you get Monday off!

  50. krista June 19, 2008 at 4:01 pm #

    wow, what a rush! :)

  51. Adam O June 19, 2008 at 5:24 pm #

Shut up.. that is the coolest thing ever. I’ve watched Los and his videos.. but its pretty cool to see what a Sunday looks at your church. I think my favorite part was watching your Sound guy back in his booth. very very cool

  52. Ken Storey June 19, 2008 at 7:37 pm #

Its been awhile since I heard some Crystal Method, good choice in music! You should play this to all new members, then maybe all this talk of pastors not doing anything will end!

  53. CJ Mills June 19, 2008 at 8:35 pm #

Having the Rowland girls in your video made it all the better!

  54. Bill Renfrew June 19, 2008 at 9:53 pm #

How cool. I loved all the cell phone calls in the car. But where’s the nap? I was so waiting for the famous nap!!!! I thought for SURE the vid would fade over you sawing logs. C’mon man! On the basis of thee hugs and handshakes alone you are officially re-awarded your man card. ;>) Keep up the great work, Pastor Pete.

  55. kristiapplesauce June 20, 2008 at 12:21 am #

Yeah. Coolest thing ever. Your shirt I mean.

  56. Joe June 20, 2008 at 5:00 am #

you spend your days “vision casting” eh?

    …..

  57. sarah walston June 20, 2008 at 5:32 am #

My favorite part is that out of the whole day your sermon was literally about 2 seconds long. Perfect. I can’t stand long-winded preachers. JUST KIDDING!!! And I think my kids would love your “colorful lights” church service.

I was also thinking that, for this ADD brain, that the video is almost exactly how I feel most days!

Man that was so totally cool!

And really – do you wear flip flops on stage?? That’d be kinda funny.
