In Case You Missed It…

My wife posted this picture of our four-year-old, Gage on her blog today. She walked around the corner of the grocery store and there he was, doing his thing. All I can say is he must be a PK. Lord, be with us.

So, I may regret asking this one, but do you remember your first kiss? Details please.

I do, it was cool, and 15 years later we still laugh about it!

  4. Tommy Sircy June 13, 2008 at 1:04 pm #

Does the 5th Amendment apply here?

  5. Pete Wilson June 13, 2008 at 1:09 pm #

    @Tommy No, spill it. :)

    @Brandi Nice try!

My first kiss was to a young lady named Jennifer D. Ironically, it happened in the gymnasium of the Christian school I attended which is now the building where our Cross Point Nashville campus is. Who would have ever thought?

  6. kristiapplesauce June 13, 2008 at 1:11 pm #

Yeah so, Mike was his name and it was so lame because he was seriously like a foot shorter then me. I was in such a rush to grow up…aren’t we all?

  7. stephanie June 13, 2008 at 1:15 pm #

  8. Anne Jackson June 13, 2008 at 1:17 pm #

First grade. The coach’s son, Monty, promised me a necklace if I’d kiss him during a movie they were showing. Heck yeah. He delivered, too. If you can believe it, I still have the necklace too!

  9. melissa1970 June 13, 2008 at 1:34 pm #

Do all the little boys I chased around my kindergarten class count? Naaaaaa
So, it must have been Matthew Anderson, 3rd grade. He did the right thing…..he told me mom that he truly loved me and then he kissed me in my back yard when no one was looking. Ahhh, the good ole days.

  10. Giant Idiot June 13, 2008 at 1:35 pm #

Playground 5th grade, girl’s name was Beth.

  11. carolyn (foolishnotions) June 13, 2008 at 1:42 pm #

oh my goodness- – that is classic… lol

1st kiss… assembly of god camp out behind the cabins. I was 11 or 12′ish. all I can remember about him is that he was a REALLY bad kisser and I hid from him the rest of the week. :-)

  12. Tommy Sircy June 13, 2008 at 1:54 pm #

Alright. Backseat of a 57 Chevrolet. I assume you mean real kiss?

  13. Harold McKee June 13, 2008 at 2:06 pm #

@Tommy, I am afraid to ask what a real kiss is, so I won’t.

First Kiss, Kelly S., fifth grade party at Jimmy A.’s house, spin the bottle. (SHE LOVED IT)

  14. Harold McKee June 13, 2008 at 2:08 pm #

One more thing, You know what they say Pete and Brandi, where there’s SMOKE…

  15. Tommy Sircy June 13, 2008 at 2:16 pm #

Harold, I really am gonna take the 5th on that one.

  16. Sally Jo June 13, 2008 at 2:22 pm #

Lots and lots of saliva. Even tho I had watched The Love Boat, I had no idea tongues were involved. Oy veh.

  17. Cindy S June 13, 2008 at 2:24 pm #

Tommy Sircy!!!!! I’m still learning things about you after 25 yrs. Don’t think I would have admitted it was in the backseat.

  18. Tommy Sircy June 13, 2008 at 2:27 pm #

We were riding with someone. Good grief. We’ll finish this discussion at home. lol

  19. Cindy S June 13, 2008 at 2:30 pm #

uh huh! Boy you had me fooled!!!

  20. godzgaljen June 13, 2008 at 2:44 pm #

I’m mainly laughing at Cindy and Tommy…see what you started Pete?

I do…I was 19. I was clueless but in love.

  21. Marla P June 13, 2008 at 2:57 pm #

I was in the 5th grade and his name was Jason Stewart. We hid behind the curtains on the stage and I was wearing a purple raincoat and purple shoes. How I ever got a kiss in that outfit still remains a mystery!

  22. Cortni June 13, 2008 at 2:57 pm #

I was at a Spice Girls concert (couldn’t have been more romantic)! My parents were in the row in front of us so I literally had my first kiss behind my parents backs. It was perfect, and the Spice Girls will always have a special place in my heart!

  23. Sheryl June 13, 2008 at 3:08 pm #

first of all, love the picture.

oh my yes, i remember my first kiss. can you say “gross”. i was thinking “did i just get kissed by a guy or was that a st bernard?”

  24. jdellis June 13, 2008 at 3:08 pm #

Pete, at least Gage has high standards.

My first ‘real’ kiss…7th grade…nervous, butterflies, very forced, and poorly executed.

  25. Joe Case June 13, 2008 at 3:09 pm #

    like father like son?
    j.

  26. Harold McKee June 13, 2008 at 3:11 pm #

@Marla, what is it with you girls knowing exactly what you had on years ago. Sherry can tell me more about what she had on at an event or way too many times a non-event that she can tell me about what happened there.

I guess if all you had on was a purple raincoat and purple shoes I might have kissed you too. :-) (lova ya)

  27. Emily June 13, 2008 at 3:45 pm #

Oh, the shame. 7th grade behind the stands at a baseball game. To this day when I see the guy he says, “You know I changed your life.” Puh-leeze.

  28. therealstorie June 13, 2008 at 4:06 pm #

He just wanted his own blonde. I mean, after seeing the video clip with Jett, the sibling competition just kicked in! HA! :-)

  29. krista June 13, 2008 at 4:09 pm #

that is so cute!!!! your boys….wow.

  30. CJ Mills June 13, 2008 at 4:43 pm #

maybe I need Gage to teach me how to be cool…hilarious!

  31. Jan June 13, 2008 at 5:49 pm #

sadly, it was playing “truth or dare” – i was 11, we were in a movie theatre and it was REALLY not a memorable moment. Very disappointing. Not at all as I envisioned. Now, my first kiss with my hubby – it was magic. I knew we’d marry as soon as our lips met. sigh.

  32. candidchatter June 13, 2008 at 6:25 pm #

I’ll never forget mine. I have the cold sores to prove it. Yep. Great.

  33. Stephanie June 13, 2008 at 6:35 pm #

I was 17 on my front porch…and we were destined to be just friends! We still laugh about it to this day.

  34. Laura June 13, 2008 at 7:57 pm #

Lars Kirchner…I was 16, he was 18 and we were each other’s first kiss…it was absolutely disgusting and I was very disappointed….Jarrod makes up for that disappointment now:)

  35. sarah walston June 13, 2008 at 8:07 pm #

    This is hilarious!!

I’m taking the 5th also. I’ll live vicariously through everyone’s stories though!! What a fun thread!

  36. Pete Wilson June 13, 2008 at 8:07 pm #

@Laura Yes, we heard this week on your husbands blog all about how he’s making it up to you! :)

@Tommy and Cindy I may need to offer you a free counseling session after that one. :) You guys are the best!

I was 15 on the dance floor at homecoming. Your the Inspiration by Chicago was playing. The mood was romantic until he stuck his tongue in my mouth! I am still tramatized by the thought of the awful first kiss.

  38. imgladyouasked June 13, 2008 at 9:09 pm #

I am really trying to remember if there was a kiss before this first time I ever kissed Steve. I don’t think there ever was. So my first kiss was standing in my parents house at the front door. I think Steve and I had been dating a couple of weeks. Now we have been married almost 13 years.

  39. loridknerr June 13, 2008 at 9:59 pm #

EEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW, I’m not naming names because the guy lives in the Nashville area, but it was in Kindergarten and was on the cheek. Thank goodness it wasn’t on the lips because fast-forward a few years and he had a huge birthday party at his house and we ALL GOT SICK/food poisoning from some nasty dip his Mom made. YUCK! Never went to his house again!!

Gage is a rock-star!! He has really high standards!!

  40. Audrey June 14, 2008 at 12:31 am #

haha i was 17. and i was going over to a guy friends house cuz he really needed some help with his girlfriend. he was asleep and his best friend answered the door. i guess we liked each other and we kissed with some techno music (bleh) on. crazy. we went out for like a year… haha

  41. Sara June 13, 2008 at 6:14 pm #

So many bad first kisses…mine was with my boyfriend-at-time, Danny M. just after school ended for the summer before I turned 14. He was WAY out of my league (at least that’s what I thought back then) and I was moving 850 miles away the following week. It was a super small community and everyone knew I had never been kissed so they were all pressuring him to kiss me before I moved away. And he did, at my going away party, it would have been a wonderful kiss had he not started it off by saying “well, I guess we should get this over with.” So romantic huh? Well far from traumatic anyway, and he was a really good kisser, but it was just not as special as it would have been had he just kissed me spontaniously. Ahhh well, we can’t have it all!!!

  42. Libby June 13, 2008 at 6:20 pm #

I was 15, dating my very first real boyfriend (Mark was his name and I was “smitten”). He pulled up in front of my house and the next thing I knew, he’d planted the “big one” on me! I was so young and unprepared I didn’t see it coming! My thought at the time was…”and ‘this’ is what I thought I was missing?” It really wasn’t all that special for a first kiss! But as I said…I was smitten and (for me) he was my 1st love. Funny thing is…a few years later the guy that became my husband kinda kissed me the same way. By that he took me by surprise, when I wasn’t expecting it! Now THAT one was memorable!!! :-)

  43. Adam O June 13, 2008 at 6:51 pm #

wow.. thats umm wow.. Thank goodness i have a couple more years before my kids do somthin like that. (daughter is 3 and my son is 2) At least he found picture of a really cute girl. lol Maybe in his mind is was Taylor Swift. LOL

  44. Rachel Rowell June 13, 2008 at 11:02 pm #

Yep. I was 14. This boy decided I needed to be taught how to french kiss in the church baptistry of all places. I think he and I “went out” for all of two weeks. My parents would have been horrified.

  45. minnowspeaks June 13, 2008 at 11:08 pm #

Kindergarden or 1st grade. Behind a pine tree in Pinski Park. Craig Buell. His mother made a purse for him to give to me. It had a batman button and I thought it was sweet. Oh to be innocent again.

  46. ncarnes June 14, 2008 at 9:36 pm #

6th grade with a girl named Leslie it took place somewhere at our school property.

  47. Crystal Renaud June 14, 2008 at 10:53 pm #

3rd grade. he was legally deaf and wore a back-brace. yeah, i knew how to work it back then. good grief.

  48. RC June 16, 2008 at 3:14 pm #

Yes. It was a poster. Do I have to mention it was a poster of a certain pop icon gone that gives many people the heebie-jeebies now?

    **sigh**

Okay, that may have not really counted, but I just know where my lips belong these days.

  49. Ken Storey June 17, 2008 at 9:58 am #

My first kiss was with my fiancee while sitting looking at the stars on the back porch of my parents house, sitting in some Adirondack chairs with a candle in the ceramic fire pit. We have actually kept the chairs and fire pit and they will be displayed at our reception and then we will have them for our own back porch.

  50. alece July 1, 2008 at 4:13 pm #

that picture is hilarious. i can already imagine this story being retold to him many times during his upbringing…

my first kiss was in a tent in africa with the man who became my husband. he asked me first (ever a gentleman), and it was… wonderful. i was scared and nervous and happy and content all at the same time.
