Real Hope

Real Hope For Haiti Campaign

I want you to take a few minutes to read a couple blogs that are blowing me away this week. You can read this guy, this guy or this girl and hear about their amazing passion to help a rescue center in Haiti that is in immediate danger of closing. You can donate to save the rescue center directly from their blogs!

I had the opportunity to visit Haiti almost two years ago. While there, Matt Singleton and I shot a little video for an upcoming message we were doing at Cross Point. I still dream about the “Kingdom of Oneness”. Watch the video, read the blogs, and just see if God stirs in your heart!

I love sharing life with you guys,

Pete

Thanks for the wake up call this morning! The Kingdom of Oneness starts right here. What am I going to do today for the Kingdom? All I have to do is look outside of my window and see needs! God has a sense of humor. He transplanted us to the middle of nowhere ( what I refer to as the “hick-ghetto”), but ironically we are surrounded by neighbors in need. They’re in need of physical things, emotional help, but most importantly Jesus. Today I won’t just pray…I’ll meet a need! Thanks for the reminder!

Wow. What a testament to meeting needs. I’m enjoying the blogs you mentioned as well and am moved to MEET PEOPLE, to MEET NEEDS, to embrace a kingdom of oneness. Thanks, as always, for sharing.

Just a point of clarification. At the time of the video shoot we were given some slightly false information. Haiti is actually the poorest county in the Wester Hemisphere, not the world. However, I think you get the point.

pete, thanks so much for talking about this! i believe God is stirring within all of us a passion for people around us. whether it’s in Haiti or our neighborhood, we all have a role to play in glorifying God and impacting His kingdom. we’ve already had many people respond to the need in Haiti… praying for more!

thanks again for mentioning this. peace!

I have always loved the “Kingdom of Oneness” video. It stirs as much emotion in me today as it did two years ago. Thanks for the reminder.

I think this is possibly one of my favorite videos you all have ever done. My heart aches so much when I see it…and it takes me back to the times I was able to travel to places like that. You know, I always left way more changed than when I went. As much as I desire to still go back to the DR (and maybe finally with CP) I am constantly reminded of the mission field here. Too many times do I hear denominations cause division rather than trying to be the body of Christ together…and the result is people are burned. That is the mission field I live in now, living out Christ to those watching and wondering if my life is full of judgment or grace.

@Bush and @aaronivey I’m just so proud of you guys for taking time out of your busy lives to support this. I pray we can all come together and rescue the rescue center.

Pete, I LOVED this video. I must admit though, that I dropped by earier this morning and I just couldn’t view it, or the other sites. I don’t know why, but my soul knew it couldn’t handle the hurt. Thankfully, I came back, and am blessed by the uplifting message of the video. Living in the Deep South, in the belt of the Civil Rights Movement, I am constantly reminded how often our community puts up a good front, but truly fails in my opinion of racial equality. The division is unbelievable…and I live in a community where the honest truth is that churches are still segregated. It pains me so. Oneness, needs to be our goal. We need to stop all this nonsense and just love Jesus TOGETHER. Oh, Lord help me to be a bridge for your kingdom, no matter which side of the tracks we are on.

I LOVED this video and the blogs and all the other blogs i have been reading lately about people who are truly going for it.I have been reading IS 6 this whole week and I really pray that god sends me. somewhere. anywhere. i am so inspired by these people. i love that regardless of where we live, or what denomination we belong to, we are all equal at the foot of the cross.

There is a power in gathering together in front of our computers but it truly can become a Kingdom of Oneness when we gather our hearts together and apply the love of Christ to places like the Rescue Center.

I was in Haiti in December of 2006. It is a place of great despair. There are hungry children almost everywhere you look and geographically speaking they are so close to my comfortable home. I encourage @Bush and @aaronivey to continue to put those thoughts and pictures in our faces. Never let the world forget about those who don’t have a voice and need the love of Christ in very tangible forms.
