Annual Staff Retreat
Earlier this week I got to spend two days with our staff on our annual all staff retreat. What a blast! This is such an important time for our staff to get away and dream about the future as well as just spend quality time together. This crew deserves a few days away for all of the hard work they do day in and day out. I’m so proud of each one of them and for the many sacrifices they make to serve our church community so well.
We had a ton of fun (I’ve got pictures at the bottom to prove it). A few of my favorite highlights were the talent show, the jet ski’s, and the exciting wii competitions.
On a serious note, I thought our time together assessing and discussing our giftedness and how we work together as a team was priceless. Jenni Catron is very gifted at leading these discussions. I also can’t tell you how much I appreciated the open dialogue we had during our Bible study on pride. This staff is committed to stewardship of this ministry instead of ownership.
I’m so blessed to get up every day and have the joy of going to work with a group of people that I love doing life with.
Enjoy the pics. I’m of course breaking the cardinal rule: what happens on the boat stays on the boat. Sorry guys, I couldn’t help it.

Pete
i know by looking at you and your staffs heart that God’s church is well blessed, just like it is at UC and i am going to keep praying for you and at anytime you needa specfic prayer let me know and i will do it. may God bless you and the staff as you keep doing his work. Add me if you would like too. In Gods Love Andy
Amazing that there was no loss of life.
Pete, thanks for sharing the info and pics from your team’s boat cruise. Looks like the team had lots of fun. My team at work is scattered all over the US and even the world, so gathering for something like that is not feasible. It is unfortunate because there is a lot of value in being able to do so.
Thats awesome!!! Our church does the same thing annually, and it’s good to see other churches doing the same thing, it shows you appreciate your staff!!! Madd Props to you guys!!!
Greg and I were disturbed to learn that Jack did not go on the trip…leaving you all with no responsible adult!!
Pete, I thought this was so powerful…
“This staff is committed to stewardship of this ministry instead of ownership.” – After looking up “stewardship” and “ownership” it made it that much more powerful.
I’ve always been taught that you want those in your ministry or those that you lead to “take ownership” but it is much more powerful for them to be committed to “stewardship”. Wow! Thanks for teaching me something tonight…quick get it in a book before John Maxwell does!
what a blessing to have such great people to do life with.
I’m still recovering from the trip, but this time with our staff is one of the most valuable things we do each year. Thank you, Pete, for leading us with conviction, passion for our purpose, and some fun too!
Is that Tom’s hair in the morning? LOL!
