At least once a day someone asks me, “What the heck is Twitter?” I usually find myself stumbling to explain. I’ve seen this video in a couple of different places and it explains it so well. So watch this….

If you want to try “twitter” click HERE to get started. Warning: It’s highly addictive.
If you want to follow me on “twitter” click HERE. Warning: My life isn’t really that exciting.
If you’re wondering why you should twitter, you should read Michael Hyatt’s post from earlier this week. Michael is the brilliant president & CEO at Thomas Nelson Publishers here in Nashville. CLICK HERE to read.

Hey Pete,
You know I just recently started following people and to be honest I’m not reaping much reward from it. Probably because the people I follow are internet friends and not personal friends.
Any thought on how to make my twitter experience more valuable?
(Not that following you isn’t valuable).

What’s next? A camera in your bathroom?
hey, i already have a camera in my bathroom! twitter rocks
Great point Ryan. I have found it most useful with people that I already know. It’s kind of like text messaging but in mass. I really just do it for fun!
Brian A. you know the routine. I do it, and then you make fun of me, and then you start doing it a week later. Kind of like you did with facebook and then blogs
Yes and that is why I skipped that step and put a camera in my bathroom. HA!!!! Beat you to it.
I’m “going” live now @ http://brianalexander.wordpress.com
Twitter rocks! I’ve only been tweeting for about 6 weeks now and I’m definitely addicted. My 8yo daughter even asks when my phone buzzes who is twittering now. LOL!

Awesome!!!
I joined the Twitter Litter about a month ago. Love it!
yes sir! http://twitter.com/betterthanblank
oh and by the way, I’ve been meaning to tell you that is one sexy pose you hit there on yer pic to the upper right! And I say that in the most ungay way possible.
Awesome video! But my answer is NO. I honestly have to personally draw the line somewhere. You can get addicted and lost in the sea of all the available social networks and personal platforms. Hey, but if you have the time to Twitter – rock it out!
Sure do!

My family thought I had some kind of disease when they saw that I was “twittering” on my facebook page
Hey I am a church planter in Columbia, SC. We launched 15 months ago. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your post over at http://www.chrisreeder.com. Great Stuff. I posted one last week on there and have one coming up on Thursday. Thanks again
I do too. http://www.twitter.com/brianhowe
3 wedding bands bro? Buddy has lost his fair share as well so I guess I don’t feel as bad. The tatoo is a good idea.
Unfortunately the addiction is so bad it is the first website I log into…I start reading updates from my last post. It started out slow, but now that I am following several people and I have several followers, it has become really fun…the video is true, you discover stuff that you would never know from a blog.
My wife understands my blogging, but she doesn’t get my twitter habit. I’ve asked her to be a twit, but its not for her.
Answer is YES – I twitter.

I’m the wife of a senior pastor and have a pretty interesting career going. Why do I Twitter? I’m really just “kicking the tires” right now. I’m enjoying following those in the ministry. I find many times that it helps remind me we’re not alone out there doing this thing.
Like you, loved M. Hyatt’s post on twittering. I started a few weeks before I read that post. It’s been great for following my hubby, too. He’s turned into “King Twitter”. Especially while you guys have been in ATL, I’ve had fun following many of you! All with different experiences at the very same place!
For now, I’m still in. Keepin’ it real is the key for me. Travel safe, Pete and team!
Tam, PLEASE don’t encourage Brian A. It only makes things worse
Funny how the meaning of words change over time! “Twitter” used to be something a bird did while bathing in the dust OR what your heart did as it began to fall in love!
i’m still on the fence with twitter…already have a blog and facebook…do i really need to twitter???
To all the comments: If you do not have Twitter, try it out for 15 days, if you don’t like it, get rid of it, if you do, dive in head first. My guess is you’ll be taking a dive.
I agree that one of the coolest things about it is all the new people you get meet.

Jon, my personal opinion is to dump facebook. I’m considering that myself. I’m tired of getting poked and being offered drinks.
you should try summize.com next! it lets you search twitters. you can search yourself and see who’s twittering about you!!!
trying out twitter myself…www.twitter.com/callmelinds

Yes, I twitter. Yes, I’m addicted. And I will soon twitter you to say, “Dude, your comment on Anne’s KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT blog made me laugh out loud.”
Now, a question. Among my friends and church crowd it has been discussed that the phrase “Hey, twitter you later” or any phrase involving the word twitter just sounds a little, um… strange. But I’m all over it.
YEP. Love it!! Fun to see what’s going on in the daily lives of those I know….and even some I don’t. I’ll have to admit I thought it was bit obsiessive the first time I heard one of my Pastor’s talking about how he could twitter. Now, I am hooked. Imagine that.

@ Pete you said “I’m tired of getting poked and being offered drinks.”
You talking about Facebook or a Bar???
I’m glad I don’t twitter. Blogging, e-mail, and Facebook is sometimes MORE than enough to keep me distracted.
No twittering for me. It sounds “ouchy”. I think a different word would sound less painful.
With my blog, facebook, e-mail and MySpace…I’m good…maybe too busy already on the web.
Love your blog!
