Tragic Accident at Starfield Concert
Please pray this morning for Chris Nichols and the band Starfield. Chris is a Cross Pointer who manages this band. Late Saturday night I received an e-mail from Chris stating that something had gone terribly wrong at the opening concert of their new tour in Abbotsford, B.C.. Here’s part of the email that he sent.
Plan A was going so well. The biggest Christian tour Canada has seen in a few years. Four consecutive sold out shows to start the run. A milestone in the band’s career and perhaps mine, too. Like Joseph, I know God is with us in this. I’ll keep you posted on developments. I’m so thankful for the support of my church family.
He is asking for us to remember the band, which is pretty shaken up, but more importantly, those that are still recovering from the accident. Forty people were injured and two seriously. I’m asking you to remember Chris in your prayers as well as he attempts to hold things together and deal with the fallout of this tragic accident. He’s in the midst of a Plan B, but God will lead him through.
The video below is a news report out of Canada which also includes home video of the floor collapsing. It’s amazing more people were not injured.

the enemy is a punk – he’ll do anything to hurt, disrupt, deceive and stop God’s ministry – he, especially, can’t be happy with Christian musicians and their ministry…
prayin’ specifically & often,

God is so amazing. In the midst of what could have been the loss of many lives, God’s protection is so evident. He is always there.

Yeah, this was crazy! I am originally from BC, about 30 minutes from that church, but I am currently attending school in VA. My cousin is a youth worker and took her kids to the concert. I believe 10 of her kids were hurt and one, as of the last I talked to her, was still in the hospital. It is unfortunate that it occurred, but God is good in that nobody died. I will be praying for the kids, the band and all the people involved in the event.

Hi! I saw your video about Todd and Angie Smith, and then found your blog via a link on their site. Their story – Audrey’s story – GOD’S story is absolutely incredible. What a remarkable family.
I live really close to that church, and have been there a number of times for worship concerts. I was always a little creeped out by the floor there, as it felt like a trampoline at times. Scary. I used to sit right in the section that collapsed.
Thanks for posting about this. It’s tragic and really scary, but thank GOD there were not more people hurt. Thanks for asking people to pray.
Blessings to you!

While we have the gift of life, it seems to me that only tragedy is to allow part of us to die – whether it is our spirit, our creativity, or our glorious uniqueness.
